  1. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Do you guys think the Blue Jays forgot the whole David Wells for Mike Sirotka mess? KW really screwed Toronto there. (even though Wells sucked ass for us). I like this trade possibilty BUT i'm not sure if Toronto will work out another trade with us? That was with their old GM Gord Ash. Im sure JP would have no problems. CWSOX45
  2. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) Why would Toronto want Mike Lowell? So that they can have Koskie, Lowell, and Hinske all playing 3b? The Blue Jays want to move a 3b, not take one on that is very expensive. SB As far as I've heard the Marlins won't deal Burnett to anyone unless they also take Lowell. Koskie is on the 15 day DL, and Hinske mostly plays first base. The thing is we don't know what JP wants to do, I've heard mixed reports that he wants to pack it in, or does he want to make a move to compete for the division? I also am unaware of the Jays financial situation... As I stated in my earlier post, I said I was basically just throwing this s*** out there... EDIT: Hinske WOULD play first base if Hillenbrand was dealt, but now that I look closer at it I see your point and I agree with you.
  3. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) maybe Hillebrand goes to Fla to take Lowell place I was thinking that, but maybe Toronto will send Russ Adams to Florida, considering if they have to acquire Lowell they would just move Aaron Hill to shortstop, which is where he played in the minors...someone correct me if I'm wrong on that though.
  4. The only way I see this deal getting done is if the Blue Jays just decide to retool for next season. Which means this deal could get done on the trading deadline. The Jays are currently 48-47 and are only 5.0 games in the East. It just doesn't make sense that the Jays would be so interested in Burnett, yet we hear all this news about them dealing Batista, Lilly, and Hillenbrand, which makes me wonder if we would be involved with a three player deal with Toronto and Florida. Florida Recieves: Contreras, Shingo, Russ Adams?? Minor Leaguer Toronto Recieves AJ Burnett, Mike Lowell White Sox Recieve: Miguel Batista, Ted Lilly, Shea Hillenbrand I'm just pulling this outta my ass, thoughts on this possible scenario anyone? I honestly don't know if this is a possiblity, just throwing an idea out there.
  5. What do you guys think about the possibility of Shingo going to Florida? How many days left before he is released? I could see Florida interested in Shingo, considering most of the National League has not seen him yet. Thoughts? CWSOX45
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Heres something to chew on. Aj Burnett = Jose Contreras What makes you say that? So far this season Contreras is 5-5 with a 4.26 E.R.A., a 1.32 WHIP, and a .228 BAA (which is damn good) However Contreras has a K/BB ratio of 72/48, and has given up 16 homeruns. Burnett on the other hand is 5-5 with a 3.33 E.R.A., with a 1.22 WHIP and a BAA of .236. Yet he has a MUCH better K/BB ratio than Contreras of 111/40 and has only given up 6 homeruns. You can say that they are similar, but I have to say that Burnett is an upgrade to Contreras, and would bolster our rotation. Even though Burnett is still wild at times, he can be down right filthy, and it gives us more options with what we can do with our pen. (Duque or Contreras to the pen) I can only hope that Kenny makes a move to land this guy, not only that Burnett is only 28 years old. We could sign him to a multi-year deal. If Kenny can package Marte, BMac and a couple of minor league prospects to get this guy than I am all for it.
  7. Sorry folks, but if we have the chance to snag Jason Schmidt, we need to do it. That bumps Contreras into the pen for the post-season. Having more than 5 reliable starting pitchers in the play-offs can do wonders for a ball club. Look at the Red Sox last year, they had Derek Lowe and Bronson Arroyo coming out of the pen until later in the ALCS! Getting Schmidt would only bolster our rotation even more, a change of scenery may also be what Schmidt needs to get him back on track. I love Brandon McCarthy but there is no way you can rely on him to be solid in the post-season, let alone in consecutive starts. We need to get Jason Schmidt. CWSOX45
  8. I can't believe I'm hearing this....this is f***ING JASON SCHMIDT. He can be down right filthy! He struggled earlier this year because he was hurt. Look, whenever you have the opportunity to get a guy like Jason Schmidt, you don't sit around and watch other contenders take a shot. It's also good to have 6 PROVEN starting pitchers come October. Hell, look how many the Red Sox had last year, they had Bronson Arroyo coming out of the pen! We need to get Schmidt. It gives us a lot more options, and in my opinion the more money JR pays to the Giants for Schmidt's contract, the less talent we'll have to give up. The last thing you want is the Red Sox, Angels, Yankees, or Orioles getting him. CWSOX45
  9. Here's a question to ponder, how many starting pitchers did the Red Sox have on their pitching staff when they won the World Series? I'd have to say it was more than 5, and the rest worked out of the pen. Wasn't Derek Lowe not even in the rotation until the playoffs? We need to get another Spot Starter/Long reliever, then I'd feel much better. CWSOX45
  10. Whoa Whoa Whoa slow down.... Politte, Cotts, Marte, or any of our bullpen guys are NOT going anywhere. Shingo and Vizcaino has shown flashes of brilliance in the past, plus you don't want to f*** with the teams chemistry. In my opinion, the guy we go for is Aubrey Huff. Huff plays LF, RF, 1b, 3B, DH. Platoon him with guys that are struggling. Huff is the guy we need, and we wouldnt have to give up one of our guys on our 25 man-roster in order to attain him. Another alternative is Rob Mackowiak. The White Sox need to look to strengthen the bench, then should focus on getting another arm for the pen. If Im Kenny, I don't trade Joe, or anyone on the Major league roster....except Timo..... CWSOX45
  11. Mackowiak or Aubrey Huff. Both of those guys play multiple positions and would make our bench a whole lot deeper, especially since Gload still isn't ready. Another arm for the pen might be helpful as well. CWSOX45
  12. Okay I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, considering the trade deadline isn't for another 2 months. However, I was talking to a friend yesterday and we were just throwing names around that could make the White Sox a even more balanced team. I know it has been mentioned here before, and it is more clear now than ever that the perfect edition for the Sox would be Aubrey Huff. Huff is struggling this year, but he always seems to turn it on. He's had a pretty couple solid seasons for the D-Rays. Not to mention that Huff can play multiple positions. (1B, 3B, LF, RF, DH). We could move him around when we have guys that are struggling, (Crede, Dye) which makes us a deeper team. So Kenny, if you're listening. Get Aubrey Huff on July 31st. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd be ecstatic. (Just don't give up BMAC or Anderson) CWSOX45
  13. nevermind, ill be listening to sox n roll radio!! CWSOX45
  14. Hey guys. I'm in DC for the weekend, and I was wondering if any of you guys know of a site where I can get free audio of the game? Both ESPN1000 and 720 say that mlb will not allow them to carry the games anymore, and you have to buy a package on mlbradio. Any suggestions? Since it's a FOX game, all of the local sports bars are showing the Yanks and Mets. thanks CWSOX45
  15. Can anyone tell me more about Charles Haeger who is pitching for Winston-Salem, he is currently 6-0 and has a good K/BB ratio. I have never heard of him, is he supposed to have a legitimate shot at making the big leagues? If anyone could supply me with any information on him I'd appreciate it. Thanks. CWSOX45
  16. I wish there would have been a Pierzynski/Widger option. I truly feel that the reason our pitching staff is so much better this season is because we have two solid defensive minded catchers calling the game for our pitchers. So my vote goes for the catching platoon. CWSOX45

    El Duque

Kenny will just wait until the Giants are out of the race and make a deal for Jason Schmidt. It's bound to happen. CWSOX45
  18. Wow I don't get it. Someone mentions how ESPN mentions us being "for real" now and all hell breaks loose. First of all, why is everyone at eachother's throats? Our team is 21-7, if someone wants to post about how the media has yet again changed their mind about the White Sox, then let them! Jesus Christ. When the Sox go on a losing streak the so-called Baseball Tonight "experts" will change their mind yet again! They will say we will fold, choke, sputter, and the Twins will catch us. I don't even watch the program, but to b**** at people who want to talk about it on a messageboard is just unnecessary. As far as I'm concerned, I don't want attention from the media. 95% of the media flip-flops when it comes to giving praise to the White Sox. ESPN, Baseball Tonight, Mariotti, (obviously), and other publications and reporters do it all the time. My bottom line is reports from the media, and attendance don't mean a damn thing. You can beat the horse to death, but it won't give you a clue about how good our team is. However, at the same time some of our fanbase may be excited that their team is finally getting national attention, so let them be excited and post about it. 21-7. That's all I need right there to feel damn good about this team. CWSOX45
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) as it stands, the umps can do no wrong and even if they do, there's no penalty. Side note: I feel good about the Sox, even with all the obstacles, they've battled and hung in every game. I think they'll come home, rest, regroup and stomp on the Tigers. This team IS a team of 'grinders'. We gotta let this series go. You're right Los. Considering we had Widger at 3rd, and Crede at Short, you can't be more than happy with the effort they gave today. I still love this team, I love the attitude, and I have a feeling the next time we get Oakland in our house, they better get ready to hit the dirt... CWSOX45
  20. Here is how I see it. It was a breaking ball that was inside, and Crede moved a little bit so the ball would make contact with his left arm. In no way did Crede lean out over the plate to get hit. Now if that call was made with regularity with the other 29 clubs, I wouldn't complain at all. However, it is the fact that Wendelstedt was behind the plate and called it. Ozzie had every right to be pissed off, Oakland had been throwing at our guys all series, he also threw Crede out for throwing the bat. If that was done every time a Major leaguer threw the bat, there would be a lot of guys tossed every damn day. These umpires suck, Wendelstedt holds grudges, he doesn't belong in the Majors if he can't call a fair game.
  21. So far the White Sox are living proof of why some people believe OBP is just a bunch of crap (HAWK) I think that OBP is a good stat, in evaluating players, however I don't think it should be the only component when evaluating players. As already stated, the OBP will go up when Rowand and Dye come around, and when the Big Hurt comes back to town. CWSOX45
  22. It's been pretty evident in the past that Ozzie may have a hard time keeping his mouth shut. However, Ozzie is paid to win ball games. We keep playing with the same mentality and intensity, then Ozzie is doing his job. Ozzie's comments about Frank were once again blown out or proportion by the media, and Ordoñez took the first shot at Oz. Most of us when faced in the same scenario, would defend ourselves just as Ozzie did. Sure Ozzie may go off time to time, but isn't it better than the managers we've had to deal with in the past? Ozzie has intensity, fire, and a passion. He won't stand for bulls***, and in my opinion is the right type of guy you want managing your team. As for Maggs, he needs to stfu and focus on getting healthy. His team sucks right now. Just my 2 cents on this whole fiasco. CWSOX45
  23. We are 8-4. Why switch the whole order around?! We've been taking 2 out of 3 from every series. I say leave the order the way it is. Sure we may be winning a lot of low-scoring games, but that's what this team was built to do. I say leave the line-up alone until Frank comes back. CWSOX45

    Thoughts

-2 out of 3 is always a great way to start the year -Pitching has been great, minus Shingo's performance today. Blown saves happen. -Defense has been good for the most part -Podsednik has been hitting the ball HARD. Even when he hasn't reached base in the past two games, he's still hit the ball hard right at someone. That's a good sign. -Iguchi has been good for the past few games. -Pierzynski has been fantastic, the game calling behind the plate has been terrific. -I like our pen, Vizcaino and Hermanson seem like solid pick-ups. I really like how Cotts looked this series too. Once these guys all start clicking together, this team could have the potential to compete with any team in the league. CWSOX45
  25. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Okay, I just don't understand how the Sox defense could be worse this season than last season... 2004 Lineup: 2005 Lineup: 1B Konerko 1B Konerko 2B Uribe 2B Iguchi 3B Crede 3B Crede SS Valentin SS Uribe LF Lee LF Podsednik CF Rowand CF Rowand RF Ordonez RF Dye C Olivo C Pierzynski We are the same defensively at 1B, 3B, and CF. We got slightly worse at 2B from Uribe to Iguchi. We got worse at C from Olivo to Pierzynski. We got alot better at SS from Valentin to Uribe. We got alot better at LF from Lee to Podsednik. We got slightly better at RF from Ordonez to Dye (2000 A.L. Gold Glove). Some may disagree with me, but I believe that we have gotten better defensively with the addition of Pierzynski over Olivo. Sure MO had a helluva a arm, but Pierzynski has the right mindset, one of the weaknesses of Olivo according to some sources was that he had trouble calling a good defensive game. We all know that we are going to get a mastermind behind the plate in Pierzynski, even though he has trouble throwing out baserunners. CWSOX45
