We could get New York to give those two up. New York has already put Posada and Vazquez on the block. In my opinion, that's the only way we give them Johnson. CWSOX45

Russ Ortiz= BAD. He walks way too many guys, and we all know that walks turn into runs. Especially in our ballpark. CWSOX45

Hearing the names of Randy Johnson, Jason Kendall, and Tim Hudson sure does get me giddy. However I know better than to get my hopes up. I'm interested to know what players YOU THINK the Sox will REALLY sign or acquire. Choose three players as your prediction. If you really think we're going to get Johnson and Kendall than go ahead and put it down. I'll start: 1. Russ Ortiz (Yes, Kenny loves him that much.) 2. Turk Wendell 3. Kenny Lofton (He's available from New York. Kenny loves to bring back old friends.) CWSOX45

Pokey Reese here we come! :rolly CWSOX45

I'd take Mulder. They both have great stuff, but Mulder is a life long Sox fan. I think he's gone on record saying he'd like to play for the Sox one day. The sooner the better I say. CWSOX45

I don't want Russ Ortiz with the Sox. Period With all those walks he gives up, he'd get lit up like a christmas tree here. Getting Ortiz would be a bad move. CWSOX45

Yes. Fire the Cell. Damn hitters park. I never suggested firing ANYBODY. I still think it's too soon to fire Cooper. The only reason Loaiza had ANY sucess is because of the cutter Cooper taught him. Not to mention the fact that Jose Contreras was great for us, at least to compared what he was in New York. I think Cooper is still a hell of a pitching coach, but as I mentioned before in previous posts, if there is no visible improvement than Coop should be canned. CWSOX45

Away from Coop? What do you want me to go back when we still had Nardi as pitching coach? That stat you proposed is meaningless because we didn't even have most of the same pitchers under Nardi as we did Coop besides Buehrle and Garland. Now if you're looking for combined team E.R.A., I'm sure that could be found. However when I went to MLB.com the computer was not able to compute the teams team stats from 2003 even. I still don't think Coop deserves to be fired, not yet anyway. I know most are upset at Coop because of the way our young pitchers were handled when it was their turn to start in that 5th spot. (Cotts, Rauch, Diaz, Munoz), but that decision was not Coops alone. My example I used proved that U.S. Cellular Field is a hitters park, those high ERA's prove it obviously, and so does the fact that there were more home runs at the Cell than at Coors Field this year. If the only reason people why people want Cooper canned is because of high E.R.A.'s at home, than they really ought to think more logically. CWSOX45

I'm not sure if Cooper is responsible for the Sox pitching struggles this year, if you all can remember in April and May, the Sox were getting some attention for having four outstanding starting pitchers with pretty damn good numbers....that is until June hit. Here are the Home/Road E.R.A.'s for our starting pitchers. Besides Contreras there is a significant difference between Home and Road E.R.A.'s The Cell Away Buehrle 5.22 2.63 Garcia 5.37 3.25 Contreras 4.13 6.21 Garland 5.27 4.61 Loaiza 5.94 3.80 Schow 5.98 5.21 Based on these numbers, I have to say I can't blame Coop completely for the Sox struggles..however I think it will be interesting to see early on this season how our starters perform under Coop. I'm pulling the trigger if I'm Kenny Williams. This is Randy Johnson guys. I don't care how old he is, he's still amazing. We need a guy like him in the front of the rotation. As for losing Garland I remember hearing something about Esteban Loaiza wanting to come back to the White Sox.....does anyone know if his option was picked up by the Yanks? CWSOX45

I disagree. Willie showed flashes of being a fantastic lead-off guy in the early going. He then hit a little bump in the road and Ozzie benched him. It must have killed the guys confidence. I still have faith in Willie, as I do Crede. If you think Willie will never figure it out, I can't imagine what you have to say about Joe Borchard. CWSOX45

With Scott Boras, nothing would surprise me. CWSOX45

I don't do this trade because we have to give up Konerko and Lee. I do think that if this deal does get done, it will be a three way deal involving another team. Should be interesting to see how this goes down this off-season. CWSOX45
-
I'd be thrilled with that deal. Arthur Rhodes will help us in the pen for those late innings. I feel a lot better giving up Paulie than giving up Carlos. In my mind, Ross Gload is more than capable of starting everyday at 1st for the Sox. CWSOX45

Dick, over the past few words I've determined that the word "Beane" translates to "Three-way deal" in modern english. I can see Beane sending Konerko to another team. CWSOX45

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about him either... CWSOX45

I'd normally agree with you, however this time I don't. Here's why: I worked for the Kane County Cougars this summer (A's Low-A affiliate) I was fortunate enough to meet Eric Kubota (A's Director of Scouting). At that time he told me Beane wanted him up in the Bigs before the end of the year, and would most likely be given the closers role for the 2005 season. Sure enough he was in the Big Leagues a month later. Maybe we can get Jairo as a throw in in this deal.... :rolly CWSOX45

The A's don't need a closer. They have a young man named Jairo Garcia, he will be given a chance at the job. He has electrifying stuff... CWSOX45

Look guys, if you want the White Sox to win the World Series THIS YEAR, then this is the deal you want Kenny to make. We need an ACE. The Red Sox had Pedro, Schilling, and Lowe. They basically carried them through the sweep of the Cardinals. I know that Caballo is a stud, WE all know that. I also think some of you really overestimate Jon Garland's value. Sure he's a good number 5 pitcher, however we need Randy Johnson. But to be honest, I can't really see Garland going anywhere, IMHO Kenny would have parted with him by now. With that being said, I can see Carlos Lee and two/three prospects going to Arizona for Randy Johnson and Danny Bautista. I think this would be a fair deal just as long as we didn't part with Anderson/Sweeney/McCarthy. However, if we do have to part with one of them I'd be willing to make that sacrifice. CWSOX45

YESSS!! FINALLY! The guy I've wanted the Sox to get since last year might actually be coming to the Southside. He not only is a contact hitter, but you can't get much better defensively at short with Vizquel. WAAY TO GO KENNY! CWSOX45
-
You guys can't be serious. This is Randy Johnson we're talking about. He is AN ACE! I understand most peoples concerns about giving up the farm, but honestly guys how much did Boston give up to get Curt Schilling? Besides Fossum and a couple of young minor league pitchers...Jack s***! The D'Backs are looking to cut payroll, Sure we might have to give up one of three (Anderson, Sweeney or McCarthy.) However I think that giving up one of these potential stars is worth getting a PROVEN star. CWSOX45
-
I heard that their top catching prospect wasn't even that good. I know that we can beat the Yankees for Randy Johnson, the question is how much will we have to give up? CWSOX45
-
If we can get Johnson, another solid arm for the pen, and Omar Vizquel, I'd say that's a pretty damn good off-season right there. It's nice to know that Kenny has a plan, hopefully he can carry it out. CWSOX45

According to this article from the Daily Southtown, the White Sox are looking to acquire Randy Johnson AGAIN. It's a pretty good read, I guess that RJ actually said he wouldn't mind coming to Chicago to play for the Sox. The article also says that Kenny will pursue another #1 if he can't get Johnson. http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/241sd7.htm CWSOX45

SP 1. Radke-The guy just knows how to pitch. He doesn't walk ANYONE. He'd be the first guy I'd look at getting. 2. Clement-Numbers were pretty damn good, imagine those numbers if the Cubs actually scored for him once in awhile. 3. Lowe 4. Pavano-He'll be targeted by EVERYONE. Probably will get a ridiculous contract. 5. Lieber-Still knows how to pitch, hopefully the Yanks go for bigger and better fish and forget him 6. Perez-I can see his numbers just sky rocket coming to Chicago, he'd still be better than Grilli tho. 7. Alvarez-I wanted him last year for our 5th starter. I wanted him BAD. Dodgers got a pretty good season out of him. I'd like to see him return to the Southside. 8. Russ Ortiz-He's the opposite of what I want. When he's on he's on, but still WALKS people. He's been a guy Kenny has been targeting though, so we'll probably get him. Middle Infield 1. Omar Vizquel-Does it all. Age doesn't bother me, should come cheaply. Win-win situation. 2.Walker-I'd take him. Class act, said a nice comment about Sox in Chicago paper. 3.Polanco-I didn't know about him until someone brought his name up last week, if he's available go for it. OF 1. Beltran-DUH! We won't sign him though. 2. Drew-Stud. Previous injuries could be a concern 3. Catalanatto-Isn't he a free agent? If so sign him up. He'd come cheap, puts up pretty good numbers. CWSOX45
