2012-2013 Official NHL thread
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Here's how I'd break the trade down: 2nd line C for 2nd line C- Kane for Plekanec D for D- Subban for Hjalmarsson Why the f*** would Montreal trade PK Subban for Niklas Hjalmarsson? LOL, ok, you certainly over simplified things. Kane has still massive upside.

2012-2013 NBA thread
The problem is that none of these teams are willing to take on a pouty Dwight for one season while giving up assets. The Lakers would be moronic to trade Bynum for Dwight without knowing if Dwight will extend, because then they wind up with no center, AND Bynum has a very short list of teams he would consider an extension with - the Rockets, Mavericks and Cavaliers. This is the way of the NBA. Players approaching free agency aren't going to sign extensions just to help their team complete a deal. It's unfortunate that Dwight has handled things so poorly with his indecision - it's completely within his rights to enter free agency after playing for the Magic for 8 seasons. He's just been a child in doing so.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) We'll see what Jay can do with this offense, talk to me about this again in a year or two when this offense gets a chance to get situated I firmly believe those stats are a result of megatron and have less to do with Stafford. He's not that talented And there's a lot of flaws in QBR Big Flaws in ESPN's Total QBR Exposed After Tim Tebow Rates Above Aaron Rodgers http://bleacherreport.com/articles/889199-...e-aaron-rodgers QBR: ESPN's Deeply Flawed Made-For-TV Stat http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Artic...or-TV_Stat.html I was actually talking about Quarter Back Rating, not ESPN's bulls***. I didn't know they used the term QBR, I was just abbreviating. Next time I will say QB Rating. Oh, and Stafford was 5th in the NFL last year in QB Rating. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?arc...e&Submit=Go

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) The Lions were the #1 team in the NFL when it comes to passing attempts, and he has Calvin Johnson on his team. So that explains the big stats. Stafford ain't that good. He's not any better than Jay Cutler. Lions offense = f*** it, toss it to Calvin He was, you know, 5th in the NFL in QBR last year. That's kinda a statistic that takes into account the number of attempts/completions. 41 touchdowns against 16 INTs is ridiculous. He threw 25 touchdowns to non-Megatron players. I love Jay Cutler, but come on, his career high for TDs in a season is 27, and that came with 26 picks.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) Once again...from HockeyBuzz (and again, grain of salt). Mmmm...salty. I think I would do this trade. That's a really interesting trade. Obviously, I like Subban, and Plekanec would be a solid #2 center, but I don't see that deal being feasible. I don't see the Blackhawks trading such a marketable asset like Kane without clearly answering the goaltending situation. Add to that, the front office does oddly love Hjalmarsson - though they have been trying to turn him into more value than he is (see Sam Gagne). Add to that, the Habs have to realize that Montreal would eat Kaner alive. Blackhawks fans on the whole have become almost as meatheady as Cubs fans, and haven't cared at all about Kaner's exploits. If that went down in Montreal, that fan base would crucify him. So, I'd see both front offices/management teams saying no to that one. Personally, I would really like that trade as Subban would be such a breath of fresh air (and in his own right a ridiculously marketable player who fills a huge need for the roster) AND we'd have a #2 center who helps fill out the lines and lets us stop playing Sharp (and obviously Kane) at center. The Hawks are not short on wing depth, so I don't believe the under-performing frat boy Kane would be missed. Either way, it likely won't happen as neither Chicago winter team seems able to step up and rock a real deal!

Giving away a bike, for free
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Perfect let me know, I'm 6'1" so it should be good. I'm 6'1" and on a Large frame, as that was recommended by an expert, but again, free bike is free bike.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) Side-note: if I'm an Eastern Conference team with cap space, I'm making a qualifying offer on Lopez or Humphries to blow this s*** up. They can't be traded once that happens, meaning Brooklyn would have no hope of completing the deal. They'd deserve it too since they seem to be trying to give Orlando as little as possible. They gave away a lottery pick that would have been a nice piece for a pending free agent, and they used all of their contracts to acquire Joe Johnson. I wish someone had some balls.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) I disagree when action occurred is relevant, this game is for the FANS and that game was a waste of money for anyone who paid to see it because an ump is a joke. And this has happened before and he wasnt thrown out so stop saying its a no doubt ejection. I am against star treatment in all sports, and baseball is no exception. Grienke deserved to be ejected had it been 4, 14, 54, or 94 pitches into the game.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 11:04 PM) It looks like I'll be getting a purebred yellow lab this week. 8 months old, already 80 pounds. Is this going to be "your" dog or are your parents getting it? It seems like odd timing for someone who may/may not be getting ready to travel across the country in search of a broadcasting job in a profession that would cause you to be away from home an awful lot? If it's going to just be your parents' dog, then ignore this post, but if you are looking to get a pooch, you might want to wait until you have your feet under you a bit more. Dogs of any size are a lot of work and yellow labs need a lot of space that someone at your career level might not be able to provide. Food for thought!

The Avengers/Marvel Comics thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) Pleases me because MORE AVENGERS. Angers me because it means that the normal version will come out on Blu-Ray first, then the extended edition will be a while after that. So I'll have to wait longer to add Avengers to my Blu-Rays. As someone who was your age once and built a sweet dvd collection, all I can say is "don't bother" with the bluray "collection". There will be a time very soon where blurays are phased out and you'll be stuck with a bunch of crap you'd rather have not spent your money on - just watch the movie from redbox or streamed online for dirt cheap when in the need!

Seriously, some dumb team is always willing to jump in to make things work to create super teams. If the moronic f***ing Minnesota Twimberwolves don't s*** themselves to acquire Michael f***ing Beasley, the summer that shan't be named never happens. Now this - the s***ty Cavaliers (a team that should know better) are hopping in to help Dwight get to f***ing Brooklyn.

2012-2013 NBA thread
And with zero work put in and some risky trades, the Mad Russian has built a long-term Championship contender (assuming it goes through). I hate the NBA one post after saying I like it. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the "tentacles" of a 14-player trade involving Dwight Howard are in place and that a deal involving three, or possibly four, teams could be in the works very soon. While all the particulars are not yet known, the deal could go down as soon as Monday where Brook Lopez, additional players and multiple draft picks may be going to Orlando, Kris Humphries and a potential pick could be on their way to Cleveland and MarShon Brooks possibly entering the fray as a trade chip going to a fourth team to make the deal work financially. The deal would gut the Nets roster of players, but it would get them to their end goal of finally getting Howard in a Brooklyn uniform. Sources have also said that Magic brass are set for a Monday meeting at 9 am ET to see if this is truly the deal they want to make. The nation's Dwightmare may be close to coming to an end in short order. Stay tuned.

2012-2013 NBA thread
I think the fact that we're debating who's better between Kirk Hinrich and CJ Watson shows what a sad state of affairs the 2012/13 Chicago Bulls really are going to be. It feels like we've regressed about 5 years with this signing, but that really had already happened the moment Derrick tore his ACL. The Bulls are maxed out and built poorly around Rose and it showed in the playoffs last year. We basically became the LeBron James Cavaliers, and our star isn't as good as James was even in those days. Thank God the league on the whole is entertaining to watch, because next year for the Bulls is going to be rough. You aren't winning an NBA Championship with a healthy Derrick Rose and a 45 year old Rip Hamilton at the 2, unless you have a superstar up front which the Bulls don't. They are poorly built and need contracts to go away. Hopefully Derrick can have some longevity, but with one bum wheel already chances are the Bulls are pretty f***ed and won't see a title anytime soon.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Poor DBAHO. Seemed like Magic fans thought they'd get a lot for Anderson. Ayon's actually an ok center. As for the Hornets, that roster is starting to take some shape.
