QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) I still think they have something to say like team confidence. Aces win 20 games and they even do it on bad teams. Wins can separate an ace from a good pitcher. Peavy is not an ace. Team confidence? LOL

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 08:20 AM) But if every one of them is underperforming their contract, then what is the total team salary? Leaving the pitching staff out, that means your total team salary for your position players is $6.5 million. Meaning...you now have the money available to go out and assemble the greatest pitching staff of all time, and while you're at it, still have a ton of money available to sign a major offensive threat somewhere. Missed the point. The only thing you are concerned about is ROI on guys who are not producing at all. "Well they aren't making a lot." Well great. They also aren't helping the team win.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) And all 16,000 wish they were someplace else. Sox didn't deserve a crowd after the last 6 in Detroit. And tonight? They could be 2 up? You can't blow opportunities like tonight. They'd be right back to 2 up but couldn't beat the s***ty Twins again. Unacceptable. I'd expect the crowd tomorrow will be 5,000 to 10,000. It's like the Sox got that early lead for once and just stopped playing. Was it 3-0 or 4-0 after two innings? What a joke. I may be there tomorrow, but it should be pretty brutal. Day game + kids back in school + minor threat of rain + getting ass handed to you day before

Humber: "Soooo how'd you do that?"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Like any position, until he becomes more expensive than his production would justify. I've seen you say this many times, it only works to a point. You can have replacement level players at all 9 positions making league minimum. So they are all "worth it." You still have a horses*** team on the field, though. It's not all about ROI, it's about actual production as well.

Getting swept in the biggest series to date and being 1-6 on the road trip gave me no motivation to get to the game. I'm guessing I'm not alone, even if it's half price night. Attendance the next two series will probably be pretty bad.

Santiago to start Mon vs. MN, Sale works on pacing
IlliniKrush replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why are you skipping Sale's start Saturday? I don't agree with skipping for extended rest unless he really, really needs it. Need your best starter pitching as many games as possible unless he needs something different. Not having him pitch a whole week when we could be looking at a tie in the division after tonight isn't very smart. -

Spider, your situation above has Quintana pitching on 3 days rest (Tues/Sat). -

Actually, if they didn't make any changes, it would end up being Quintana, Peavy, Liriano, Sale against Detroit, skipping the ??? guy. -

Nice call Robin. Let's let him get smacked around hard just one last time before we call it a day. He deserves the chance to do that. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Sox aren't just losing games at Detroit, they're not even coming close to winning games there. No lead for more than a half an inning since the Dunn homer off of Valverde. The new Metrodome. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) f*** You Penn State Sincerely, The World The healing has been postponed for another week. Oh no! Man, that made me so happy to watch Ohio comeback and watch the last few minutes of the game as PSU fans had their stupid-assed faces going. I only wish the Illini were good enough to just smoke the crap out of them...I'll enjoy other good B10 teams just crushing them. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 05:18 PM) Why would a OSU fan even think about rooting for Michigan? Ever? Rock would rather shower at Penn state than root for michigan -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) Forgot to respond to this last week - I'm in the same boat. I enjoy some aspects of litigation, but not all of it. My law school curriculum was geared towards becoming an in-house counsel for a big company. But that didn't work out and litigation was the only job I could get. I'm worried that at this point, 4 years in, i'm stuck unless I head into solo practice. My wife could have typed this word for word.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Laurence Holmes #Whitesox offering $7 upper deck tix/$17 lower deck for next homestand including #tigers. whitesox.com/soxsave #nomoreexcuses I see $9 and $20 on the dynamic pricing list...but close enough I guess. Sox fans aren't making up their minds on that Detroit series until that week. So the "excuse" could be "they're 4 games out of first." -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) It's more a statement on how big the home field advantage is going to be. If you can't win a big game with how the crowd is going to be, you're not going to win any big games. They may still rack up some wins, but it won't be a memorable year. That game is massive for Mizzou. On a neutral field, Georgia's probably what, a 10-13 point favorite? I don't think Mizzou home field is worth nearly that much. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 09:59 AM) exactly. if you've lived your life and done your job such that people either love you or hate you, i think you've gone about it the right way. You've done things your way, and you've stood up for what you believed in. I doubt for one second that Hawk will have any regrets when he leaves this game. And that's all any of us can hope for in our respective professions. No. This is about as slippery a slope as you can create.
