Angels vs White Sox - 7:11PM Start

Why is Griffey in CF? Why why why why why. Even easier to get him out of CF with LF open, but no. f***ing retarded. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) Doubt it. I've done stuff similar to this SOOOO many times. Sometimes when you're that competitive you just get caught up in the game and do something like he apparently did. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) How much money were you being paid when your temper was enraged? Hundreds of thousands? Millions? He better learn his lesson. I hear you Justin, but don't be ignorant. You can't excuse this whatsoever. This injury is inexcusable. Same thing with Tulowitzki and anyone else who's done it. Everyone on this team (any team for that matter) should learn a lesson from this.

What makes it worse is that he did it to himself by acting stupid after an at bat. That's really hard to swallow.

QUOTE (CubsSuck1 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) Get real. You seriously think that anyone in the organization is prioritizing the outcome of this game before winning the cup? The Hawks'll get to be the center of attention for a day, and the situation is being milked as it should. Last I heard, season ticket sales are up over 300%, but let's b**** about an advertisement. No, I'm not. But the ad is stupid. It's the cubification of the hawks, and I don't like it one bit. I don't want the UC to be the place to be and be seen. If this Tony Amonte thing is anything more than a puck drop and some highlights, it's an absolute joke. Come to Hull, Mikita, Espo, Pilote and... Tony Amonte night? Enough already. -
"Two members of the 2008 Jamaican Olympic track team received shipments of performance-enhancing drugs, including HGH, according to documents obtained by SI." Not really a surprise, and diminishes anything done by them. Gotta think one is Bolt, easy. Edit: Bolt wasn't named, but I wouldn't quite say he's off the hook by any means...

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) You can talk about the hitless wonder stretches in 05 all day but that team: -could hit clutch -had stellar defense -found endless ways to win by only a run Do you really think this team in any way resembles 05, besides four strong arms (that aren't as consistent this year)? I see a lot of big boppers who, when they're on, its great, but when they're not we have no answers. #1 and #2 should be setting the table for the middle of the lineup, not watching them from the dugout or standing on base hoping for that homer which all too often ends in a popup. I just do not get how people don't remember how we retooled in 05 and how radical and questioned it was. This team looks nothing like 05. This comes up now and then, and a lot of misguided people point to Pods and 'Ozzieball' as reasons we won in 05, when it's simply not true. Amazing starting and bullpen pitching and home runs won it. In 05, they were 5th in the league in HRs. 22nd in OBP. 11th in Slugging. Dead last in doubles. It wasn't really grindy ozzie ball like people want to think it was. It wasn't as easy as outing Maggs and Lee and inserting Pods on the offensive side. I'd much rather have this lineup over the 05 offense that struggled mightily at times. You don't need an entire philosophical change.

Fantastic Tenn/UCLA game to cap off the week. Tenn kicker chokes it from 34 out in OT to give UCLA the win. This coming after a furious final few minutes of the game that saw Tenn take the lead on a TD, UCLA take it back on a TD with less than :30 left, and Tenn rallying to tie it on a FG as time expired. Craft throws 4 picks in the first half and then has a great 2nd half. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 11:30 PM) Well, you wouldn't of had to throw it practically every time, and so that might have took more time off the clock, if you still had a good RB. No, they aren't. They were the 59th best "total defense" last year, while Wisconsin by 38th, Michigan was 24th, and Ohio State was 1st. Played in different conferences last year. One full of offense, the other full of s***. The last game they played was against an SEC team in the Cotton Bowl, and that went pretty well. Plus, this is a different year, and they have 11 starters back. They are and will be a solid defense, and showed many flashes tonight. QUOTE (The Bones @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) Did you watch the game? It's hard to run when a defender already has you wrapped up right when you get the ball. We've been over this, it's easy for him to point at the Illini and say 'no Mendenhall they are screwed' and leave it at that. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 11:21 PM) You said it yourself. When you guys have to face a good defense like Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, passing it all the time isn't going to work. When Mendenhall entered the draft, I knew Illinois was screwed unless they recruited some big time RB, and they didn't. If you watched the game, it wasn't necessarily the lack of Mendenhall that hurt us, at all And are you calling Mizzou a defense not up the caliber of Michigan, OSU, and Wisky? I sure hope you aren't. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) Yeah, well, their offense isn't much better. Their defense is good, they are just on the field too much. And yes, he is, but if he entered the draft right now, he'd be a top 10 pick. ESPN, last year, did a 2006 draft re-do and Hester went in the top 10. Now, Maclin is just as dynamic as a ST player as Hester was, plus he's a WR. Offense isn't that good? OK... Mizzou is a real good team. So hard to slow them down on offense, and we had some stupid mental problems in the secondary. After the long completion midway through the 4th, we burn a timeout, take a sack, and then Juice throws a bad pick by staring down a guy. We at least get the FG there, and it's a one score game. Not bad, considering it looked like we might get rolled in that 3rd quarter. Worst part of the game was the fact that we couldn't line up and run the ball very well at all. -

I noticed this too. They sure as hell weren't booing the fact that if a guy had been waved, he would have been out at home by 20 feet. It was obvious it was YOUK. It was indeed ridiculous because he didn't stop, and Hawk didn't catch it either.

Yeah, I saw that a few days ago. 1) Their 'one goal' is to raise the W flag for one game that nets us 2 points? Awesome 2) The Sox and Hawks are sponsoring each other this season, so it makes even less sense to promote Cubs traditions. 3) The Hawks don't raise a flag after any game, win, loss, or snowout. 4) Put down the baseball bats. We get it. It's in a baseball stadium. But this has nothing to do with the Cubs, or the actual game of baseball. It looks stupid. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) I always like to have the phone in case something goes wrong, ESPECIALLY after the February 14th shootings here. And I don't feel comfortable having my wallet anywhere except with me at all times because of the stuff in there. Good point on the shootings, but I think you get what I was saying. I highly doubt most of the people at other schools have your mindset, however. Wallet I really felt less safe having it going to class, it's pretty safe in my apartment IMO, but that depends on your living situation.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) Blah, I think you are reading too far into this. Was it a terrible call? Yes it was, and I'd be pissed if I were a Rays fan. It was a call that also helped us win a game. However, on opening day, a bad umpire ruling (actually more than one) was a big reason if not the main reason we lost the game. Yesterday was just a case of the baseball gods evening it out, so we should not feel bad at all. We realize we got a break, we'll take it, let's move on. No big deal. You've been around here long enough, and you've seen the stuff I'm talking about, I know you have. Also, concerning opening day, while the Crede tag was obviously a factor and missed, the OC play was not a bad ruling. But, if you want your even-out world, you got it for these 2 games. But correct me if I'm wrong, weren't you insinuating that if we missed out on the playoffs by a game, you'd point at opening day as the reason? I know you're better than that, so maybe I misinterpreted that part in some of your posts. You are one of about 3 people around here who can probably admit calls even out/there isn't a conspiracy against the white sox/calls do go our way sometimes and not always against us.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) People need their phone, keys, and wallet at all times. Period. No they don't. I never brought my phone with me to class unless it was to check a day-game score, and wallet I only brought with maybe 2% of the time. If you are getting up, walking to class, and walking back, what the hell is the point of having a phone and wallet? Unless it has a purpose, it's just more crap to lose. And the people who would get on their phone the instant they got out of class (these are the people who get hit by bikes, cars, buses) drove me nuts. You can't wait 10 minutes to get home and have this conversation. "Oh my god I just got out of class, matter of fact I'm still in the hallway, how was your 9am class?" I don't think that's you 101, but you know what I'm saying.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) The funny thing is, if he didn't go so out of his way to make contact with the guy, he never would have fallen and wouldn't have been the benefit of a bad call. There is no way you would see the play the same way if it went against the White Sox. Thank you, DA. That's the point here. Crede sticks his elbow out on an easy curve ball in 05, it's the right call, but everyone jumps on it. OC interferes at 2nd, it's called correctly, same thing. AJ gets to first on a the dropped 3rd...that happens to us and we lose the WS, people would say the WS was stolen from us. I mean people are still complaining about a missed call on opening day, and how that could cost us the season. Unbelievable. I'm sure we have never been the recipient of a missed call, all season. Oh wait. Now when we are the beneficiary of a wrong call, most try to defend the ruling, when if the opposite happened, this place would be up in arms, and we all know it. The bias is just retarded around here. What does everyone get out of it? Does it make you feel better as a fan? Everyone please stop being like Hawk. The umps aren't out to screw the white sox, and wrong calls are going to happen, on both sides of the equation. What's even better is what people 'think' the rule should be, instead of the actual rule and the interpretation of such rule. I'm as happy as anyone else that we won the game. You need breaks like that and some blown calls to go your way as well. But more objectivity around here would be great.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 11:03 PM) Yeah...let it go. This man knows more about baseball than anybody on the planet and is never wrong. Same guy that said Buehrle threw to the wrong guy on the botched DP on the comebacker...give it up...he can't help you. His work is done here. dnozzle...... Man, Soxtalk really has gone way down hill on the baseball side of things
-
QUOTE (ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Really proved me wrong with that one. Do I need to? Everyone knows AJ stuck his arm out to try to initiate something, anything, to turn that situation around. He knew what he was doing, and got the benefit of a missed call on it. If you can't see that from watching the replay, I really can't help you. It's amazing how blindly biased some people can be towards the Sox, it really is.
-
QUOTE (ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) Please try to turn around without swinging throwing your arms out. It'll feel weird I bet. AJ was turning, and had no choice but to make contact. The call was correct. LMAO
-
Ump's absolutely terrible blown call hands us the game. Where's all the b****ing about umpiring conspiracies against the Sox now? Where are all you guys? Also, AJ's not really a hero, he made a terrible baserunning mistake to begin with and got the benefit of a brutal call by Eddings. Even at full speed, it was pretty obvious AJ threw his arm out trying to get some sort of contact as he was dead and not going to run anymore.

After being DQ'd for too much injury time, a Cuban taekwondo participant kicked the referee right upside the head.
