QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Rob Drake is horrible. On second look it was closer than I thought, but still, he's a goddamned lightning rod for close calls. First off, he was out, lay off Drake. Second of all, sliding makes it 10x harder to judge the play. It's retarded to slide head first, just stupid. Then you are gonna get tossed as a nobody first base coach throwing your hat, then he bumped him, then Piniella made an ass of himself, and bumped another umpire. Lay off Drake and don't mix in anything else that he has or hasn't done. Guy did one hell of a job.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 03:07 AM) There's no point in booing your own guys. It just creates animosity and makes it harder to re-sign them. Garland never did care for the way he was treated by the fans and may have refused to sign an extension. (California wishing aside) It may have been one of the reasons that he was dealt. There's only one time I boo anyone on my own team, and I think it's 100% acceptable to do so: Lack of hustle/effort or lack of focus. And I mean dogging that you can see, not a guy strikes out and you want to claim it's a lack of effort. If you suck it up you suck it up, no use booing that.

They did come to an agreement. Last I heard was that the channel will 'show up' on the lineup on august 15th, IIRC. I don't know any details about HD, or what channel it will be on, but I though they said it was on the extended basic cable. It won't be on a sports tier.

I just umped a baseball game with a team from Puerto Rico. Language barrier was interesting. Good thing there weren't any arguments from their side, as explaining a rule interpretation would have been close to impossible.

Crede to DL, Fields Called Up, Loaiza Released

Fields is up, will be with team tonight score -
Brawl in the cubs minor league game tonight...I think Peoria vs Dayton...17 ejections, which were reversed to finish the game. Coaches were arguing, guy comes out of nowhere and fires the ball into the opposing dugout - well i should say tried to - misses, hits a fan who goes to the hospital, chaos ensues. SC had some of the 'highlights'

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) Why isn't it? He said the outdoor game wasn't official when everyone knew it was going to happen, and now they set up the rink in the outfield the same way my picture showed and now he's saying it isn't official. If you really can't see the difference, then I can't really help you. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) Didn't he say 3 weeks ago that the game being in Chicago wasn't official, either? Um, because that's a really great comparison? Now you're grasping. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:24 AM) Media-day was today to announce it, and they showed it like that, so yes, it is official. IMO, it should move closer to home yet in the same position, so the mound would center it. The press conference was today? Thanks for the update Bettman said it wasn't official and location is TBD. Either way, there will be tons upon tons of s*** seats. -

It may end up looking like that in the end, but that layout you posted isn't official. -

Hawk ran in with his pants around his ankles to comment on those pitches to Crede.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) Hawk needs t o STFU. That pitch to Young was no way a strike and now we will have to hear about it the rest of the game. Hawk is retarded, has been for a few years now. Any time they want to replace him is fine with me. He makes people stupid as well, because they constantly buy into his garbage and excuse making. It's sad and tiring.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3481014 Don't really know where else to put this, espn.com is counting down the top 50 basketball programs since 84-85 season. It uses a point scoring system, so this is pretty objective.

$4.30 this morning. Love seeing the numbers top $80 and knowing it will last me exactly one week.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 04:35 PM) To run out of pitchers last night was stupid. There is no reason for starters to go 1 inning. Keep 1 or 2 out if there are extra innings. Every All-Star game should have a DH and a re-entry for injured players. I also got to admit the fact the Sox would get home field over the cubs crossed my mind on more than one occasion. There is no reason for an all-star game to go 15 innings. Play 9.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) Oh I agree 2002 wasn't a disaster, I was at the game and wasn't mad at all they called it a tie. I meant moreso Bud and his cronies thought 2002 was such a disaster that they put in this stupid ass rule to try and override it. I can't imagine how panicked he was tonight during the 15th with the home field thing in place. It's a shame it ended. Ok I gotcha then. This would have been the perfect game to really point out how stupid 2002 was, and we almost got it. Well really we kinda did, there will be tons of stories written about how retarded this whole night was. It just didn't have the ending where Francona walks out and says "we're done"

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 12:47 AM) I was rooting for it to keep going with all the pitchers used. I'd have loved to see Bud Selig's stupid ass left to shrug and call it a tie again, having no idea how to determine world series home field. However, it didn't work out that way and baseball NARROWLY avoids a 2002 like disaster. This game might scare Bud into changing this stupid ass rule though, almost really made him look awful again tonight. See 2002 wasn't a disaster though, who the hell cares that it ended in a tie. Nor was it his fault. I honestly didn't care, and I don't see why anyone would. The right thing to do would be to cap the game at 9, or maybe 10 innings, since it's an exhibition, and let that be the end of it. I was with you though rooting for this game to never end. Tonight would have been the disaster.

All-Star games that go 15 innings, 4:50...and count! I had to.

There's no better way to end it than Marmol giving it up for the NL

I don't have a quote, but a Texas newspaper quoted Wilson as saying he got fired up after he heard Ozzie talking s*** to him from the dugout. I have no reason to believe he is lying...so, if true, that's pretty damn classless by Ozzie. You don't need a manager talking trash to a player while he's pitching. That's pretty retarded. Can't really blame Wilson for shoving it back at him.
