QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) THE IDEA OF SOX FANS TURNING INTO CUBS FANS IS PROVEN BY YOUR STATEMENTS HERE... no

alright after going to the game today I gotta say what a dumbass I was for starting this thread
-
ugh just got back from the game our team looked ugly out there today, and thats the bottom line playing with no heart, there is no edge or skill to their play. all the hitters looked like they were swinging for the fences (judging by the popups that went up), and every time they had a rally going, they failed to execute

pablo ozuna would make a more worthy catcher than widgy right now

the whole season it's been about how were still better than the Tigers, how were the defending world champs ect... well this past stretch, and especially today should be a big slap in the face to the team that they aren't Mr. Incredible I hate to think it, but I get the feeling from our team (pitchers mostly) that the don't care as much as last year, and they just think they can cruise along right back to the world series Ken Harrelson kept saying how the series was good for the psyche of the Tigers, well now their riding on the top of the world after winning the series, and the Sox are trailing behind now that we've gotten a taste of losing, we should start to realize that we need to step it up to keep competing in the AL so I think this loss will actually help our team get back together and hit a stride for the rest of the year

well said I'm going to boycott espn until we get back in shape though, because I don't want to hear their "expert opinions" on this spiff -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) No offense to whoever started it, but this "spiff" era is quite annoying. I wasn't looking at the keyboard and accidently spelled that instead of spiff -

to any widger lovers, think about it you might want to say that the team just happens to miss their spots more when he starts, but any way we look at it, he's a worthless piece of spiff who needs his ass sent back to the softball leagues -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) We cant talk about relievers overcelebrating. My boy Bobby does his little shimmy and shake when he gets a big strikeout, no matter if its a save situation or not. not right there -

Could This Be a Solution to the Pitching Problem?

I agree with the idea maybe even Mccarthy and Vazquez could split games -

I'm actually going to the cubs game tonight, but I'm praying that Javvy shows up and pitches well tonight for me, a win or loss isn't what's important, it's the starting pitching coming together and showing some results c'mon Javvy, step it up -
what awesome irony in Jay asking to be called before he is written badly about

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
GoRowand33 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
a nice win, but I didn't gain any satisfaction out of it when I see Javier Vazquez and Freddy Garcia pitching well again is when I'll start feeling good c'mon Javvy, it's time to step it up tomorrow -
about time someone in the organization outwardly recognizes that our starting pitching is in trouble

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) thats not true. a batter can be out on a flyout EVEN if the fielder drops the ball in transition from glove to hand. he just needs to have possession IN HIS GLOVE. I umpire as well for my city's babe ruth league and state tourney, i'd call him out. if ANY OTHER PLAYER comes over and picks up the ball out of the mitt it would be an out undoubtably. I know I already have support for my interpretation but I think what your talking about is situationally for instance if a guy makes a diving catch, writhes in pain for 5 seconds, gets up, takes 2 crow hops (all this with the ball in his mitt) then drops the ball in transition it would be a catch in an instance of the collision, there is no clear way of establishing possession until the fielder can cleanly grab the ball out of the mitt since the mitt is on the ground and not in the possession of any player, you can't call anyone out
-
I'd say I'm just a little bit worried about our pitching so far I don't have the blind trust in Coop anymore, so if something doesn't pick up fast, we have a problem
-
I umpire youth leagues in my area, so this is pretty interesting they sure don't put something like this in the rulebook lol but heres what I think to have possession of the ball, you have to be able to take it out of your mitt, so since the mitt flew off I would say that he didn't have possession and call the guy safe

I like having the announcers on the same side as us better than Chris Berman
