  1. Like Homer Simpson's quoit about Krusty The Clown's promise of spitting in every 50th "Krusty Burger",...... "I like those odds!"
  2. It could be an inrestering race with Minnesota in it.And NUKE_CLEVELAND's right,it could keep the Sox honest in tuning up for the playoffs. But DAMN,I don't want a repeat of the 1978 Boston Red Sox!You know what happened to them.
  3. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) it's hilarious if you think thats all we need 1 bat. If he comes he will be the only guy to hit, we need 8 other hitters... its a team game not a one man show. Teams will just pitch around him, not rocket science. Yeah,I know it's one a one man show. There's 8 others guys that need to step it up at the plate. But even if we don't get Griffey Jr.,hopefully Anderson and Owens (Not T.O.!) could do what they did in the minors, plus guys like Paulie,Rowand,Crede,AJ,etc. had better improve their hittings skills soon.If that happens, then I think we got a shot.Because good pitching can only go so far.
  4. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Once the playoffs start...all bets are off. I don't care what happened during the regular season. The last three WS winners were wild cards. If the Sox can play like they did at the beginning of the season, you bet we can win the World Series. If they start playing wide-eyed and hesitant...nope, not gonna do it. And that's whether we add Griffey, Guardado, Owens, Nevin or whoever. I liked everyone on that "add-on" list, except Nevin. But you're right. The regular season records don't matter in the Post-season.Everybody's 0-0,and needs 11 win to take it all.I hope the Sox have enough gas to make that dream come true.
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...esox-navigation UGGGGHHH,IT JUST GOT WORSE. THE f***ING EXPOS?!!!!!
  6. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) obviously it doesnt translate because of different pitching, but actually the barons play in one of the biggest pitchers parks in teh minors. granted i personally think thats a good thing for slap/gap hitters like owens. You mean to tell me that a gap hit at Birmingham is the same kind of hit, maybe a homer at the Cell?Hummm, that could be a good sign.
  7. 18 18 in a row.Let the death march continue!!!!!
  8. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Haha, thats too funny. Joe Carter sucked ass. The announcers suck now too, too many long ass pauses where Brenley is just thinking what the f*** are you saying and why am I here? Brendly, why is he in Chicago. When I saw him doing a game, all he talks about is "when I was the manager of the D-Backs....." Good god, man! If he fondly remember that so much, why is he here?
  9. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) pass Same here.Wasn't doing squat in either San Diego or Texas.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) He had a no trade clause, 8 teams he would approve a deal to. I assume it's mostly West - Coast teams and we're not on it, but it's the chance to play in the playoffs for him. Let's see, aside from the Padres and Rangers, the teams Nevin will play for: (Just an opinon) 1.Dodgers 2.Giants 3.Diamondbacks 4.Mariners 5.A's 6.Rockies 7.Astros (maybe)
  11. Oakland had a nice park back in the day, before Al Davis bullied Oakland officals to put in football seats for the Raiders. Now it's just looks awful to see it on TV espically with baseball. But that's not a bad design.Yes,I agree with everybody here that it looks a little like Petco Park, but I like the LF bleachers.Looks like "The $20,000 Pyramid".
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Just throwing it out there, yeah he wouldn't be the most popular addition of all time. But he's a lefty hitter, and well yeah; Yeah, but he'll never come here.If he didn't want to go to Baltimore, what make us think he'll come to Chicago? I think his family wanted him to stay on the west coast, that's why he didn't leave the Padres when they first tried to dealt him to the O's.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) And with all of the pessimism and "The Sky is Falling" threads etc. people should just sit back, take a deep breath, and remember those days when Arnie Munoz gives up 10+ runs in a couple of innings. AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! SOMEBODY,PLEASE HELP ME STOP REMEMBERING THIS!!!!!!!!!
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Yeah Owens has lit up AA. Yeah he could be the MVP. But reading Razor Shines thoughts on him in BA's Daily Dish was something in itself, also with the way scouts feel about him. With Anderson already up, he won't be here anytime soon with about only 5 months of AA experience. But I got that sour feeling that sometimes, minor league success may not transfer to the Major Leagues, with the different pitching, ballparks and all.
  15. HA!HA!HA!!!!!! Guess that one way the NHL could get the spotlight!
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) Yep and of course don't forget about the better pitching from the White Sox from their starters AND relievers. Of course when you looked at Contreras's numbers last year and who we had in the #5 spot, it was always something that was going to be improved. The #5 Spot.I remember the bad old days when guys like Danny "Can't do it" Wright,Arnie Munoz, plus other guys called up from Charlotte would get hammered that day.Gives me nightmares just remembering that.
  17. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) I'm still on the fence. I'd like to see Owens up now to see if he can help us in Oct. I don't think we owe any loyalty to Timo. He's not good enough to warrant loyalty. I hope you don't mean Terrell Owens! I vote "Other" because sure they still have the pitching (barring a bad inning or two). But they need that one bat for a offensive spark. Can you say Griffey at DH?
  18. Humm,I would think that Houston's Minute Maid Park would be up there with the short left field "sand box"-like stands. But Balta's right. The changes to the Cell did something to the wind pattern, plus no Maggs or Lee this year. All of a sudden, the Cell became Old Comiskey as far as HR's go....except the roofshots (of course).
  19. Morrissey, telling us to clam down? A while back he was harping about the Cubs Wild Card chances. But I got to admit,he is kinda right on this one.Let's just take care of New York this weekend.
  20. Tim McCarver.Does he do Yankee games still? But when he says that he like thier chances, good god,HELP US!!!!!
  21. Welcome. Now not all Cub fans are dummies. Some are sick of losing, and wants to see a winning baseball team for a change.Coming over to the South Side is a step in the right direction. You happen to fall into that rare catagory.
  22. Guess her family aren't Tiger fans anymore, huh?
  23. They forgot the fans at Wrigley Field, they're morons 24/7! But most notiblily, the 1999 fight their idiot fans did vs. ex-Sox Chad Kruger(Sp?) and the Los Angeles Dodgers at the right field bullpen. And they didn't mention those ass-clowns?
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Here's what you Bears fans have to hope for if you're smart... Benson holds the majority of the year. The Bears offense tanks it even more than last year. The Bears wind up with either the #1 pick, or the #2 pick behind a team like S.F. that already has a quarterback. Benson signs late in the year when the Bears are 0-12 and finally pay him the money. Bears get high draft pick because of his holdout, and wind up with a new and improved backfield to start the year next year. It's not out of the question. NEXT YEAR?We can't wait that long. Boy,all Benson is doing so far is his best T.O. impression,AND IT SUCKS!
