  1. Nothing about how he has conducted this season has shown he is operating on any level that is close to his Hall of Famer person reputation. This team is still making many of the same dumb mistakes it has been making for years. We have also yet to see any of those brilliant strategery moves that Tony is famous for. I can excuse player performance's from the manager as it is hard to tag Tony for Grandal hitting .120, as much as it is hard to tag him for Rodon having a 0.50 era. When I look at the line up preparation, the substitution patterns, bullpen usage, and in game strategy I am struggling to think of instances where I was blown away by how sharp something that is directly attributable to Tony really was.
  2. Two of those four OFs are out for months (a sizable majority of the season, maybe even all of it), again meaning our margin for Managerial Error is much smaller than usual. The 3rd of those guys who is D2D is a guy who regularly suffers injuries. The 4th is a completely unproven guy who should be providing defense and depth and not being a #1 OF. There are plenty of other unsustainable starts from other players on the upside as well. Leaving games behind early only opens the door for teams like Cleveland and maybe even Minnesota if we can't bury them early. It is harder to do so when your manager has no clue what is going on.
  3. We are leading baseball in run differential and yet we are only 4th in overall winning percentage. We are 2 games behind our pythagorean number. We could have been putting away teams with this hot streak, yet we are only a half a game ahead of a team that has $100,000,000 less in payroll than us. While you point to downside flukes, you didn't mention that guys like Yermin, Rodon, and Cease aren't likely to keep up their fluke seasons either. These things will balance out. If we have a manager giving away games with his ignorance of the game in 2021, the team needs to be all of the more better to make up those extra games. Look the whole idea behind Tony is that he would come in here and be a motivator, and he wouldn't make stupid mistakes. Even if you don't believe Soxtalk on this topic, when you have NATIONAL writers mocking Tony's abilities AND reporting that the players themselves are wondering WTF their manager is doing, you SHOULD be able to open up your eyes and see that this team is winning in spite of their manager, and they could be doing even better with a capable MLB manager.
  4. I love takes like this. When is the last time you saw a real OF dealt in the 2nd week of May? It just doesn't happen.
  5. Are you paid by the post? Blink twice if you are being held against your will.
  6. So you are saying they are just making this stuff up?
  7. The Yankees are now worth $5.7 billion and the Cubs $4.1 billion, is $1.6 billion that impressive when compared to their peers?
  8. This entire thread of responses is full of terrible takes. Of course we learn more and improve our techniques for medicine and pretty much anything else. If you really don't believe in modern research and technology, you need to be living in an Amish community or something to stay consistent with this line of thinking. I would expect what we do in 2021 to be an improvement over what we did in 2010, 2000, 1990, etc. Of course over time there are going to be things we replace as we learn more. The anti-science movement is one of the worst things about modern America.
  9. Why though? When I go to the doctor, I don't expect the secretary signing me in to be able to do complex surgeries. When I got to the mechanic, I don't expect the person taking appointments over the phone to be able to overhaul my engine. When I go to college, I don't expect the financial aid department to be able to give a dissertation on multi-verse theory. When I go to the Sears Tower I don't expect the guy taking out the trash to know the physics behind the design of the antennas. So why when I listen to a baseball game would I expect the pre/post game guys, and announcers to know what the manager should know?
  10. There is literally no place for Albert to play here.
  11. This is just sad. Does Tony have naked pics of your mom or something? I mean, the fact that you are contradicting yourself within the same post just makes it worse. MLB is TOUGH, which is exactly why we can't be wasting games on a manager losing games because he still refuses to leave 1989.
  12. Our #1, #2, and #4 OFs are DL'd with our #3 hurting. Sure it would have helped to have another OF, but there isn't depth that would overcome playing your 5th, 6th, and 7th OFs.
  13. Except you take away that option when you put a pitcher on the basepaths. And that is without even considering the fact that they didn't have to have Hendriks out there in the first place.
  14. Historically, this is not true. Leury does have a history of being a solid bunter, including leading the AL in sac bunts in 2019.
  15. You are lucky, at his age, Tony's testicles probably aren't that heavy for you to carry around for him. Forget false outrage, why are you cucking a man who literally just told the world he didn't know how to do his job? Like it or not THAT is an important fact here, not your crusade to protect him like he is Brittany.
  16. Why do you keep repeating this? It was wrong the first time you said it. It was wrong the second time, and it is wrong this time.
  17. He quite literally said he didn't know the rule. So either you don't know what you are talking about, or you are accusing Tony of lying in his post game press conference. Which is it?
  18. Does Lyle Mouton know it?
  19. Coaching staff apparently didn't know either according the HOF person
  20. Adding -our Hall of Famer just admitted he doesn't even know the rules here.
  21. Tony can start being a HOF manager any day now. -He totally blew the double switch by slotting Hendriks into the slot where he would be base running with two of our best bunters coming up in Garcia and Hamilton. -Having Leury steal with Hendriks on third was absolutely terrible. -Pitching to Winker with a base open, when you could set up force outs at each base. This is the worst day of managing for Sox manager since Terry Bevington called for a non-existent pitcher from the pen. Give me back Ricky, please.
  22. No idea there.
  23. On the TLR comment, I would be a hypocrite if I said anything other than no comment right now.
  24. @DBAHO checks in every once in a while with the rest of the admin/mod team. Last I heard he was doing pretty well in his adult life.
