  1. If you look at it objectively, what do the Sox have to offer that other teams don't? Even if other teams aren't willing to outspend, the White Sox system is insanely crowded right now. His path to the majors may be toughest through Chicago.
  2. I spent all off season saying exactly this.
  3. We haven't even gotten close to the meat of the rebuild yet. Only the tip of the iceberg is here. As you look down the list the Sox had 20 all-stars in their minor league system so far this year, including the two later ones from Charlotte. They are having some big years from unexpected guys, some great follow up years from guys who are top level guys and the youngest at their levels, plus rebound years from others. The minors are on fire right now. Sounds like the scouting staff is doing fine to me in the macro sense. In the micro sense, sure some specific guys have struggle, mostly at the top levels. I am still not sure why that is a surprise. Am I the only one who remembers a very similar to Moncada in Javy Baez look like absolute trash his first year in the majors, striking out at a 40% rate, and requiring multiple trips to the minors? Anthony Rizzo wasn't exactly a star right off of the bat was he? Jon Singleton was supposed to be a star, and a fool for taking an extension before even seeing the majors. Jose Altuve was a sub .700 OPS in his three season of major league action. Dallas Keuchel was terrible in his first year and a half at the major league level. Heck I won't even get into the gigantic screw ups the Astros made in the draft. None of what has happened this year is unusual, or should be a surprise. Most kids struggle when they get to the majors.
  4. I'd send greg to KC and give them international cap space.

  6. Then you weren't ready for a rebuild.
  7. Sounds like kind of an ass if you ask me.

  9. He has to be pretty close to on his last leg here, right? His previous outing Ricky let him have one batter, and then this one he left him out there to die. I see a DFA in his future very soon.
  10. He would not be here but for the injury to Smith and the suspension of Castillo. Narvaez was plan C.
  11. It really isn't that he isn't ready at the point. It is all in approach and mentality. Seeing less strikes at AAA isn't going to fix that.
  12. I imagine that the structure was contractual and that NBC just acquired Comcast's old position in the contract.
  13. Yeah, I am going to guess with the infrastructure they have in place with NBCSN already being all on the local cable networks and having staff in place, etc. the Sox stay put.
  14. It doesn't mean much. What are the Sox on WGN now? Maybe 30 times a year?
  15. Has any updated his strike out looking total? Once this gets fixed, Yo is poised to explode. The kids average exit velocity is 4 full mph over the league average. He needs to swing the bat and everything will fix itself. The coaches have been preaching this to him, he just needs to realize it.
  16. Also interesting that the Cubs might not be able to form their own network.
  17. I am a really big fan of Larson, especially White City. Will have to check out this one.
