  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) In regards to Robertson, that's because he's a "closer" on a team that doesn't win much. It's tied to his usage. Swarzak gets a lot of high leverage situations which ideally, on a better team or even just on a team where he was utilized more properly, David would get too. Yeah, he has gotten remarkably few save situations, and has pitched in a lot of garbage situations just to get him usage. In fact a team trading for him should know that he has pretty low mileage on him this year, which should be a plus.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 07:07 AM) Yeah I too thought it was a strange comment, although I'm guessing he made it catering to the meatball fans who wouldn't like us dealing with the Cubs. Bingo. I referred to a "Cubs Tax" that they would have to pay because of the risk of making them better pissing off a segment of White Sox fans who like to be pissed off about most anything. This is paying a toll at their bridge.
  3. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 02:38 AM) Potential. The key word there. And that guy is a single A pitcher you're talking about. For an ace caliber starter on one of the best deals in baseball for years to come. Don't like the deal. For the record - I hated the Shields deal with a passion, was ok with/mildly disappointed with no Devers inclusion in Sale deal, loved the Eaton deal, disappointed with this one. Cease already had Tommy John too. Holy s*** I like this deal less and less. Cubs robbed us I can't believe it. For the record, Dylan Cease is an Ace Calibur Starter.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) too bad they had to moth ball him a few years too late to get it. The odds are about 110% that Kenny Williams was the guy signing off on the top prospects.
  5. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 09:21 PM) 1. Jimenez 2. Moncada 3. Giolito 4. Robert 5. Kopech 6. Dunning 7. Lopez 8. Cease 9. Flete 10. Basabe 11. Diaz 12. Rose I love Moncada, but the offense tools Jimenez has are just a level beyond. It's really much more 1a and 1b, but nod to the guy who I really cannot fathom a reasonable complaint about with the bat. I don't think many people quite understand the kind of ability currently being unlocked by.Giolito at Charlotte. Do not be fooled by the ERA, he is looking better than he has in a very long time. People are buried in the Gavin Floyd comp, and while that would definitely be nice his projections (at least to me) trend much higher than that. Why do people act like Gavin Floyd is a bad thing? In his 7 years here he pulled an ERA+ of 105. He also gave us 1000+ IP in about 5 and a half seasons of work. He is the kind of guy you would love to have in the 3 or 4 slot in your rotation.
  6. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:29 PM) Hahn grew up a Cubs fan. The Quintana trade gets the Cubs into the 2017 Playoffs. I figure after a couple of years of 100 losses the White Sox will show Hahn the door. He will then be hired by Epstein working for the cubs. I always found tin foil hats itchy.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) I think we have more redundancy than that. They aren't as high profile yet but your Adolfo's / Skougs area other level and possible leaps from Gonzalez / Call / Fisher / Booker and you also have guys like Josue Guerrero. Yeah, there is a ton of redundancy and high quality ones at that.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:22 PM) That's my worry. This scenario is if ALL pan out. 100%
  9. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:02 PM) I spoke with several Sox and Cub fans around town today and to a man, every cub fan liked the trade and every so fan was madder than he11. Why make a trade that helps the cubs...in any way shape of form? Hahn had other alternatives. Every single report has said the opposite. He would have taken a much lesser deal if it wasn't the Cubs.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) No, he hasn't, but there are still many trades to be made and I'm sure those will be focused on offensive prospects. Not to mention our top-3 pick next year will likely be a position player as well. Well, we aren't getting any top flight talent out of what is left. Now it comes down to drafting and scouting.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 07:01 PM) It was the #1 system right around 2000. Scouting wasn't what it was today, however, and not many of those players turned into much. That system had no Moncada, Jimenez or Kopech either. Jon Rauch was the #1 pitching prospect in all of baseball.
  12. This is the exact opposite of what the White Sox are doing.
  13. QUOTE (kwill @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) Sure got those boys to their new teams fast. It looks like all of them are starting. I thought I saw the Cubs and Sox teams were playing each other? No?
  14. Also worth noting, the White Sox spent $50m on a 19 year old prospect, and he is only the 4th rated prospect in our system now.
  15. Remember Kenny Williams humble brag that the What Sox could have the best farm system in baseball if they wanted to? #challengeaccepted
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:03 PM) Has he played any 3B down in the minors this year? No, but Matt Davidson and Yolmer have. I would imagine one would play there while Moncada takes over 2B.
  17. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) Hahn would be crazy not to. I don't see Abreu's value being any higher than it currently is honestly. I expect him to regress to his numbers of the past two years by 2018, considering he will be another year above 30. You most definitely shop him and trade for what you can get. What value? I see none on the trade market.
  18. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) I know that, but the justification given was "Soto is Top 20", so a list that has him at 95 is a pretty strong counterargument in that case. I think Roberson, Kahnle, Swarzak for Soto, Kieboom, Fedde makes a lot of sense for both sides. Nats need 3 arms in their bullpen. He is a guy with a ton of helium right now. Lots of people ding points for people are in the lowest levels. Maitan has seen the same thing. I'd still trade for him in a heartbeat if my scouts gave a thumbs up.
  19. Haven't heard anything yet, but interesting.
  20. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) Also, didn't one of the lists barely have Soto Top 100? It really doesn't matter what the lists say, it is what your scouting think.
  21. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) Sure Things Robertson Frazier Swarzak Cabrera Spice It Up & Sell High Kahnle A. Garcia Didn't See That Coming Sanchez Abreu Miguel Gonzalez and Mike Pelfrey could be included as well.
  22. QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) Does this slow down Moncada's rise to the majors? There is no need for him to make the MLB roster coming out of spring training next year. No. As a betting man, I would bet on him taking Todd Frazier's place literally any day now
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) All I know is I feel a heck of a lot better about our prospects in the 10-20 range than I did a few months ago. I think we have decent depth now. I am going to go out on a limb and say the 10-20 guys are probably better than our 1-10 was as of a few years ago.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) Exactly. I'm really hoping the tigers end up stuck with that contract. I forget who the board member is but someone posted this morning about how the tigers next rebuild will be with a bunch of other teams and how the timing of the Sox rebuild was perfect since there's few teams in the AL currently rebuilding. Excellent points made by that Soxtalk member. Plus the Tigers have a big problem in that all of their best players have gigantic contracts or aren't cost controlled.
  25. QUOTE (ypres @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) Next year is probably going to be a tank year. So maybe by 2019 they start to add in more of the some of the younger guys, and then by 2020 try to go for a WC. Next year will be the worst year in the rebuild, no doubt in my mind. There are still a number of decent vets who are filling positions who will not be here next year.
