  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Jeremiah Tilmon arrested for minor in possession, yikes. Brilliant
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) I think that once Frazier is traded, Davidson will be the everyday 3B with Delmonico at DH/occasionally spelling Abreu at 1B. I think once Frazier gets traded, Yoan comes up and becomes a starter at 2B. Then Yolmer becomes a roaming utility guy filling in all over the IF.
  3. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) I think Larry on SSS said it's like middle of July, which kinda sucks. Sox won't bring him up before then as I don't think they want to have to send him down for a couple weeks later in the year to prevent Super 2. The Sox aren't big fans of guys going up and down. I think they want to get past the deadlines and call these guys up for good.
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Not too difficult, since this is the last year Yanks have to pay ARod and Sabathia. If they plan on making a run at the 2019 free agents, planning is important.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) Ahh, ok...I thought it was right around now. It is based on service time, so typically it is around now, but that is for guys with no other roster experience. Because Yoan got around 30 days with Boston last year, you have to add that on to whatever the deadline is.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) When is the Super 2 date? My guess would be mid to late July for him. Mid to late June is normal for guys with no MLB roster time previously, + the days he spent in Boston last September.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) Anyone think we may see Yoan? My guess would be another OF. Engel makes more sense.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Apparently, according to Sherman's article, they are expecting to even be facing a 40-man crunch soon...so there is more reason for them to "cash-in," as you say. Which could mean there could be deals to be had on those sorts of players. Maybe the Yankees look to do quantity over quality, or at least fewer top prospects, but maybe more B/C level guys in order to either free up the roster spots, or to move them before they hit the Rule 5 draft.

  11. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) I'd be down for something like this Frazier or Rutherford Sheffield Adams or Fowler or Andjuar Florial Id prefer Rutherford over Frazier and Fowler or Andjuar over Adams to be fair though That would be a great structure to a deal for the White Sox, though i get the feeling the return will be significantly lighter.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 09:51 PM) Hey Lipman, What's the word on Avi the personality? is he a gamer or a loafer? You mentioned his being out of shape for a couple seasons and that got me to wondering if he's not a hard worker. I always thought Tank was the loafer and Avi worked hard and hustled but I have no inside knowledge as you do. Have you not paid attention like his entire career?
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) You do realise that Eddy Alvarez didn't play college baseball at all and has put up above league-average lines at EVERY stop (including his current one, with a .345 OBP and a below-average BABIP with improved power and good scouting reports on defence)? I hype him more out of how incredible his story is than his MLB future (I think his peak is a utility infielder, and his demotion was not a good sign for what the Sox think of him), but he stands a hell of a lot better chance than Hickman imo. Looking at the laundry list of players in front of him, he really has zero chance at major league time with the White Sox.
  14. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) Let's make a bet. 3 hours of future minimum wage* says Alvarez spends more time on the active roster than Hickman when all is said and done. *should be $100 minimum under President Sanders in 10 years. My bet would be that neither makes it.
  15. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) Whatever about where he was potentially viewed by some observers before a surgery (based it would seem on projection rather than any sort of college performance, which was seriously mediocre and actually regressed from 2014 to 2015), he is now a nearly 24-year-old (albeit with age caveats) throwing 90-93 in single A striking out 3.3 per 9. I don't see him as any sort of prospect without serious improvement. Writing someone off based on their velocity and K rate for their first 3 starts pro surgery is more premature than a virgin on prom night.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) Yeah, I am certainly open to that discussion. Just don't expect it to happen, irregardless of what he does over the next 6 weeks. Realistically, the expectations I have are that the free agent crowd gets dealt, as well as Q and Robertson. After that, who knows.
  17. QUOTE (turnin' two @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:25 PM) I have to say, I don't quite get all the Hickman love. I know he is a great story, but he has made, what, 3 starts? I saw people saying he was a better prospect than Danish at one time. Danish is younger and performing pretty well in AAA. Stephens has been injured this year, but he was fairly dominant last season at WS. I don't see how Hickman is in the same category of prospect as Stephens. I have to plead a bit of ignorance on him, does he throw 98? Plus plus slider? Plus command? Why is everyone so high on guy that took 2 years to recover from a TJ surgery who is now a 23 year old in the Sally? He doesn't seem to K guys at a high rate (now, or at Iowa, and at Iowa he really walked guys at an alarming rate) and doesn't have a huge history or pedigree. Sorry if this came off snarky, I don't mean it that way, I am just legitimately curious and likely uninformed. Hickman was looked at as a top 3 round pick before he was drafted. The injury and surgery pushed him back, but there is a decent amount of upside there.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 07:44 PM) What is the magic date when the Super 2 is not a consideration? It is about this time of year for guys who had no major league experience. You would need to tack on additional days for any guys who were September call ups.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) I don't know...I think these GMs are looking at the same stuff we are and wondering what the hell is going on here. What do you think a suitable offer would be for you? The potential has always been there. 30/30 was talked about from day one. Some guys realize their potential later than others. It is an interesting connection that the other guy being talked about by the Cardinals is JD Martinez, who followed that exact path. If I am Hahn, I am looking for at least a top 50 player to start the deal, but I am looking for 2-3 top 100 players, and/or some raw potential that isn't quite there yet. You don't get a Top 10-20 guy for him, but someone in that next tier is a reasonable start.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) I don't think anyone is unwilling. But would you move him, for, say, one top 75 prospect? Not really, but I also don't think the offers will be nearly that low unless he absolutely collapses in the next five weeks.
  21. QUOTE (skooch @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Honest question: don't teams care at all about post-season seeding? Are they content to win the division by 8-10 games and finish with the fourth best record in the league? In MLB as long as you are not in the 1 game play in, it doesn't matter as much.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) He definitely seems like someone that needs the pressure to succeed. And regular work.
  23. You absolutely have to be willing to deal Avi. He only has two more years of control left, and is about to get really expensive. If this season even close to keeps up, he should be jumping into the $10 million club.
