  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) Because he has a better bat than than Leury (2017 SSS be damned) and May. I was all for giving May a shot at CF, so I'm not mad about the move or anything. But its obvious he has no business in the big leagues, and probably never will. May can defend a major league CF today. His bat wasn't even AAA ready last year. It doesn't look much better in a small sample size this year.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) God, the thoughts of you as a juror are terrifying. “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” ― George Carlin
  3. Very ready for the return of The Leftovers.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) And he wasn't that good in AAA. He is showing that .662 AAA OPS wasn't a fluke.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) Have you all apologized to Shields yet? The thing about Avi has always been the exit velocity, dude hits the ball hard as hell, just can't elevate. If he starts hitting the ball in the air you have to take him seriously. As much as I want to see Vintage Shields, dude has a 1.69 era and a 5.28 FIP. That walk total has to come down by like half if he is going to be decent this season. EDIT: just saw that was only his first two starts, and not including today. My guess is that five hits and three more walks isn't going to help that FIP at all.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Matt Cooper have a shot at big league time this year? With all of the pitching in front of him? I really doubt it.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Definitely. Like you said, he's been hot before but definitely not THIS hot so that's at least eye opening. Still, I just don't expect it to last. I don't mean to be debbie downer here in the winner thread as it's definitely been fun to watch so far but I just don't expect it to last. Prove me wrong, Avi. I think the difference is in the past when he gets hot, he would seem to get a lot of cheap hits, couple of ducks over the 2B, etc. He is just crushing the ball right now. I don't know if the new swing plane is it, or what, but dayum.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) If that inning doesn't convince you that Hawk is not the same I don't know what will. Yeah, there is no doubt he is nearly blind now. It is sad really.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) So...what if Avi's finally figured it out? The Rick Hahn will be smiling ear to ear.
  10. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:35 PM) Fun to watch Avi play right now. The ball is just jumping off of his bat right now.
  11. 0 goals in 120 minutes.
  12. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) People were too quick to dismiss the injury and performance risk with Quintana. Even the most consistent pitchers have a ton of risk associated with them. His peripherals are awful too, so you can't even say he's been unlucky. The only positive is at least his velocity isn't down. On the bright side, we way underestimated the Avi turning into an MVP risk.
  13. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Maybe something that juvenile should be discontinued. No, by all means nitpick and be petty. That isn't juvenile at all.
  14. Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 2h2 hours ago The #WhiteSox (4-4) rank third in the AL with a +11 run differential (35-24). Their starting pitchers own a 2.50 ERA since Opening Day. 0 replies 1 retweet 8 likes

  17. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 05:15 PM) Does that include Giolito's struggles? If anyone is expecting everyone to be successful from these deals, they are sorely lacking in the reality of the odds for these kids.
  18. Baseball Reference‏Verified account @baseball_ref 32m32 minutes ago Tim Anderson hit his 10th HR in his 107th game. Only three @whitesox middle infielders have hit double-digits faster http://bbref.com/pi/shareit/5MfGq …
  19. Ian Rapoport‏Verified account @RapSheet 3h3 hours ago Per @MikeSilver, Marshawn Lynch and the #Raiders have agreed to terms. Now the ball is in #Seahawks court for a trade, which will happen.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) I am such a petty Sox fan. It has brought me a lot of joy to see the Pirates terrible start out of spite. Just because of a couple Pirate fans on social media that have gushed over their team being sooooo awesome and them giving up any of their top prospects for Q would be ridiculous because of their great potential is just too valuable for a guy like Q. I know its early but like I said, I am petty. A sort of terrible start is the best thing for the Sox. Good enough that they still think Q would help, but bad enough where they think they need him.
  21. The one thing that sucks here is that we also have to add Smith back to the 40 man roster, so we lose that slot.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) Yankess RHP James Kaprielian is getting TJS. Yeah, so far there have to be a couple of teams kicking themselves at this point.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) Just to stir the rumor cauldron, you think it's possible the Sox cut bait with Frazier and give 3B to Davidson? Frazier doesn't really have value at the moment and he hasn't looked good at the plate. At this point ( can't believe I'm saying this), Davidson just might be more productive now and in the near future than Frazier. We know there's no future with Frazier but there is the slight possibility of Davidson having a future with the rebuilding Sox. Not the I'm holding my breath. Cut him? No way. Hasn't been great, but he hasn't been that bad.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) I will take lotto tickets for Holland and Shields no problem. An org's top 10-15 range A ball high upside guy. Just need to fill out the system with depth now. The top end talent is there. So will Rick Hahn.
  25. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 11:16 PM) I see the teams outside of Charlotte are just awful for the 2nd straight season. Might indicate continued issues with org depth; AAA is skewed a bit because of all of the AAAA players, but the lower levels have a higher percentage of prospects. With 7 new prospects that would work out to exactly one per team in all of our minor league system. It actually is worse because 3 of them are at Charlotte, and another 1 at Birmingham, and another 1 hasn't played yet.
