Looking at the replay, that was a pretty awful swing call by the home plate ump.

And seriously, do we need more f***ing attendance talk? Enjoy a first place team, beating up another first place team.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) If Robertson holds them, that would be 5 decisions in 6 starts for Q. That might be the most amazing stat of 2016.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) Yeah it looked out to me. Wasn't the manager out of challenges? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) Yea Farrell shouldn't have gotten that review that is bulls*** the umpires have discretion to go to replay starting in the 7th inning.- The Offense
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) I' d be willing to bet that we do not finish the season with a team OPS of .613, considering even last year was .686. This is why people shouldn't panic over a small sample size. In an 11 day span, the Sox team OPS has gone up from .613 to .701, without including tonights numbers, as guys like Frazier, Abreu, Austin Jackson and company have started to progress towards their career norms.- Early Trade Speculation
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) Just doesn't make sense to take on a pitcher with that amount of wear and tear with 3 more years remaining on that contract. If they had it do all over again, Maeda or perhaps Iwakuma would have been the moves. We need all the marketing help we can get, so adding a Japanese pitcher would have added another revenue stream. Granted, the track record with those guys hasn't been so great, going back to Irabu, Dice K and Igawa, to name a few. Darvish settled in as perhaps the best of the bench and then he got injured. Roll of the dice. Seems the next "niche" market will be Korea with the success of a group of hitters now over the last season plus. Japanese pitchers are way more abused than American ones are.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
Look out AL, Abreu and Frazier are hot.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN

The infield is in with Abreu swinging as hard as he can.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
Great hustle and awareness by Eaton to also take 3rd on that wild pitch.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) 101 pitches thru 8. Give it to Robertson, right? That is why you pay Robertson the big bucks.- Holy crap, the site works at work today!
QUOTE (Tex @ May 3, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) I thought you were lost . . . I'm sorry. That was truly lame. To be fair, we don't expect anything else- NCAA basketball thread 2016-17
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Spike Albrecht is going to Purdue and is eligible to play next season. Good luck to Spike, even though he picked Purdue. Great kid.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 3, 2016 -> 05:42 PM) Dont go to Cleveland for a Bears game. They are horrible to you. You could have just stopped at "Don't go to Cleveland"- ESPN Defensive Player of the Month
The catch Eaton made to end the 3rd inning fits right in this narrative. He knew it was over his head from the moment he left the bad. If he hesitates at all, that ball is probably a triple.- Fun Note
QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ May 3, 2016 -> 07:04 AM) If you remove the anomaly that was 2015, Latos is 56-40 with a 3.27 ERA for his career. I don't think he'll go undefeated, but we can have some confidence that he'll put up a good year. He doesn't have nearly the same stuff now as he did for most of his career to this point. I really don't think you can assume he will be even as good as his career numbers by the and of the season.- Early Trade Speculation
QUOTE (BamaDoc @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) Since LaRoche money puts us in better position to take on a contract thus paying less in minor league talent, would anyone consider James Shields? He is due about 60 million over the next 3 years, 34 years old , 9 consecutive seasons of 200+ innings and has playoff experience. He would possibly be a 3-4 pitcher allowing Latos to become your 5 which works if you think he is due for regression etc. This team seems to be winning on pitching and defense. Prior to LaRoche retiring, we couldn't add payroll and no way SD would pay all of his money but now maybe we wouldn't have to give as much talent if we took on 10 million a year(SD pays at least half what he is owed on total contract). As he ages, he would slide down the starter slot from a #3 to #5 as younger guys move into the rotation. That was a bad contract the day that it was signed.- Danks DFA'd
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 3, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Somebody will tale a flier. It won't cost anything. As frustrated as Danks was after his last start, he might just take his ball and go home.- Finding A Trade Partner for Ryan Braun
QUOTE (Tony @ May 3, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Interesting note on the Braun contract that I don't think was included in the FanGraphs article: From the Brewers SB Nation blog. He also only has 6 teams he can be traded to without his approval. The White Sox are not one of those teams, so Braun would have to approve any deal. Braun also has an option year after those five years are up. Speculation is that Braun would try to force a team trading for him to pick up that option in order to approve the trade.- Sox attended Lincecum showcase day - Angels expected to sign him
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Go to the game thread when he dropped the throw from Frazier and Baltimore tied it up. 4/30 post #423 Nightingale was on CSN and said Lincecum really isn't a fit for the White Sox. He thinks he would be very unsuccessful in the AL. Wow, I didn't think you were really that petty. Apparently I need to lower the bar.- John Danks Appreciation Thread
I am still sad to see him go, because he is the ultimate teammate. He never once tried to blame anyone else or anything else for his problems. He always mentored pitchers as they came in, even with the real possibility is that he could have been training his replacement. At one point he was one of the steals of the century coming over here in the Brandon McCarthy deal, and providing the White Sox with some big years. The Blackout game goes without question as the high mark of his time here. Hopefully he enjoys the fruits of his labor. - 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
