Game threads are always brutal, it's just a matter of how bad. The discussions that take place outside of the game threads are markedly deeper and more intelligent. The problem is that it isn't that the ump is awful, it's that they have to be drug out as the "female" ump. Talk about her skill all you like, but dragging out her gender with it is crap. No one called Joe West that awful "male" ump, as his sex had nothing to do with his awfulness. True equity is wrapping on people for their relative abilities, not their sex organs.
