  1. So far I have actually like the way ABS challenges have worked. They haven't materially slowed down the game, which was my primary worry.
  2. Honestly, this is probably into the billions range. It is absurd to think this isn't about a ballpark.
  3. Maybe not the 1st part, but the latter is exactly what is being said. 100%, no doubt about it.
  4. Castillo value was upside down because of his long term deal being worth more than he was. NOT taking on 10s of millions of extra dollars has a prospect value.
  5. It is the contract that drags down the cost for Castillo. Picking up more of that sunk cost is where they would have saved.
  6. We bought the Disney timeshare program (Disney Vacation Club) about 4 years ago. We have stayed at Riviera at WDW, and the Aluani resort in Hawaii so far. If you travel to Disney on a regular basis, it is a great deal and gets you ahead of everyone else for reservations. Man was it expensive though.
  7. Even if you push the cost down from say Boston Smith to someone in the mid to late 20's, that's something.
  8. And if it serves my memory right, the Cubs picked up his contract, no? This is exactly what I am talking about.
  9. It's the returns, not the players. Anyone with half a brain knew guys were going to go at the deadline, but the question is what we got for them, not that we traded them. For example, if the Sox didn't need to dump Dominguez to save a few bucks, they could have sent a lessor prospect than Smith.
  10. Thank god for that.
  11. Yeah there is way the Sox leave their current site in 2029. This might be an 8 to 10 year timeline to get EVERYTHING done with all of the complexities that need to happen before a ballpark can even start.
  12. In either scenario the Sox should have picked up the contract and send a lot less in return.
  13. They were obviously hiding him and didn't want to use him and kind of ran out of options with the early exit of Martin.
  14. Kitty was my first favorite player as a kid. He's also a legit Region Rat.
  15. He's also got a pretty solid history of being bad. I think this is more likely regression to the mean. He's also not alone.
  16. The Yankees just had a PE firm buy into it. It is happening everywhere.
  17. It's a business at its core. Some companies are poorly run and need new ownership. It happens.
  18. Right or wrong, it sure seems to be a possibility.
  19. I wonder how that affects a potential suspension for Davis?
