  1. 91 losses is still 30 full games better than the Sox. The Cubs also improved from 91 losses to 79 losses from 21 to 24, because of their half assed approach of avoiding the top of their market despite being a top tier revenue franchise.
  2. This is pretty similar to what we have done in recent years using about half to 2/3 of our budget early. According to the experts this is Paddy's last class.
  3. Look when the argument is that we have no future star, and aren't signing a future star to get someone who doesn't even fit this teams competitive window anyway, why are we trying to block the guys we need to evaluate anyway? If none of the guys being blocked are that good anyway, this signing isn't doing anything anyway. Roster filler? Sure. But rushing to sign a non-superstar years before you need them? Why?
  4. So you have nothing but insults. Cool, run along then.
  5. Look if you think Kim is Bobby Witt level, I don't see any point to engaging with these absurdities.
  6. The KC Royals had losing seasons going back to 2017. They drafted Witt 2nd because they lost 103 games in 2019. They drafted in the top 10 for six straight years because of how awful they had historically been. They also went 12-1 against the worst team in the history of baseball. Again, I would love too see the argument that the Sox are able to make up nearly 50 games in 2027 based on who they sign in 2024 with any kind of equivalency to how the Sox are similar. Hell even if the Sox made up 30 games based on the absurdity of a middle tier SS this off season, they are still a 91 loss team!
  7. I hope you aren't trying to tell me that Kim is going to be Bobby Witt than either, because if not, again, there is no need to grab anything like a 2nd or 3rd tier player. Again.
  8. Your closer doesn't cover all of those BS. How many of those were 9th inning flops last year? Most of that was middle relief, which again goes to this franchise needing tons of help, and not one guy.
  9. What FAs did they sign in 2021 who were key contributers in 2024? Looks to me like they went out and got the guys they needed immediately before the 24 season to compliment the guys they already had.
  10. Who had also spent YEARS collecting and playing top picks and sign FAs much later.
  11. And also if you have the idea the Sox are 1 player from a 30 win improvement, you need to share whatever you are on.
  12. Because they had already spent YEARS collecting and playing their own guys, including a SS they didn't immediately block.
  13. Because they had internal candidates who they had given playing time to and learn about. They weren't signing free agents at their absolute bottom. They also didn't block Witt years before, and insteadlet him play. Also the absurdity that this guy is going to be THE guy for the Sox in 4 or 5 years down the road is ridiculous. If he was that good, he'd be a 9 figure player.
  14. The whole roster is immediate need, and you might actually have the guy who can do it internally for tens of millions of dollars cheaper by the time this team has few enough holes to spend big money on immediate needs. No more half assed roster building. Take the pain now and give yourself the most chances to get it right instead of panic buying for a couple of more wins on a historically bad team.
  15. So how is guessing years ahead of time better? Are you even serious right now?
  16. If the Sox are as short sighted as you want them to be, I will 100% whine. Losing 119 games instead of 122 because you blocked your top prospect would be the height of stupid.
  17. Sure, but he won't be in his 20s when this team is even mediocre again. And you have given away all of the ABs you could have used for internal evaluations, that way when it is actually time to fill holes to win something, you know your own players and are trying to fill actual holes.
  18. While blocking players like Sosa and Montgomery, when in reality you should be looking to add to fill holes AFTER you figure out what you actually have in a few years instead of preventing that talent evaluation from happening and paying someone money to do it.
  19. They have room for about 25 above average players right now, which is the point. Pissing away the resources and playing time for one player which does absolutely nothing to help the future of this franchise is short sighted and a waste.
  20. The Sox probably won't be a .500 team in 3 seasons. You add players like that to fill holes on a team that is competitive, not to waste resources on historically bad teams and block your top prospect.
  21. No, I want them to actually rebuild this team instead of wasting resources and half assing this again.
  22. Don't threaten me with exactly what a 41 win team should be doing.
  23. For what, exactly? To win 51 games this year? And trust me they are trying to move Robert and Benny.
