  1. I am talking about window dressing on literally the worst team in the history of baseball. WTF are you talking about? Why would you waste millions on a mid term deal for a player that has no hope of playing on a winning team? It's like getting expensive rims for for 84 Cutlass sitting up on blocks in the backyard.
  2. If you are living in a trailer park are you buying a Ferrari to park in your car port?
  3. Because uprooting your family twice in six months sounds fun.
  4. Why? The Sox probably won't be even at .500 in 3 years.
  5. Which is saying something because it was always stupid.
  6. 47 instead of 45 wins. Big gains
  7. He has a nice write up.
  8. These small moves can help cut time on that path if done right. A guy like Junis should get you something at the deadline if healthy.
  9. Look having Josh Rojas isn't a problem for me in general. He was a free agent signing who cost you nothing but money. But there are two things of note here. 1.Decent organizations have all kinds of good fielding/no hit utility guys falling out of their trees. 2. These kinds of guys aren't used to block guys who need ABs during historically bad seasons for exactly the value proposition you just outlined. They are literal roster filler.
  10. This right here is the type of stuff the Sox should be looking to do.
  11. And decent organizations see their guys get past it.
  12. The Sox seem to have more faith in 3other teams 30s relievers than they do in developing their own young pitchers by their own recent moves. If they believed in their own people, why do they need other people's journeyman in another in a string of 100+ loss seasons, instead of developing their own for pennies on the dollar?
  13. Looks like he is an 18 YO Cuban 3b and ranked #33 in MLBs top 50 international prospects.
  14. It's the continued gaslighting of Sox fans who are supposed to believe that we fixed all of the drafting, scouting, and development problems in the organization with all of the new hires, titles, and the rest, while also believing that needing to bring a bunch of bad to mediocre players at the expense of recent draft picks and prospects, as well as the current arrivals playing time, because they aren't good enough to be developed into usable major league pieces. At best this is a 4-5 year process, but if this group still doesn't have faith in their own ability to train up their own people, this is going to be a lost decade until someone takes over for Jerry and puts real adults in charge.
  15. Which is why they keep blocking them and trading them away, to much fanfare.
  16. It's really scary that Sox management doesn't seem to believe in their own ability to develop nobodies either as now we are sending prospects and signing other people's nobodies. The signing part doesn't bother me as bad as giving up prospects for them. They seem to have zero faith in their own people's ability to create players, even sending out kids they just drafted.
  17. Hadn't really thought about this in terms of Montgomery, but if this blocks them from rushing him, that's at least a positive. I guess we will see.
  18. 100% this. And the quality of this signing is 100% tied to how he is used.
  19. Again this is what he SHOULD be. But recent vintages of roster management haven't looked like this. Getz has very actively put mediocre veterans in front of young players who should be playing, even those ones he acquired recently.
  20. This dude seems to be a pretty bad SS defensively, so it would not be really surprising.
  21. With as many complete unknows as we have, I am ok with guys like this sprinkled into the roster IF THEY ARE USED RIGHT*. *we all know they probably won't be used right
  22. Judging by numbers and previous experience, feels like a $3-5 million signing, maybe with an option for next year.
  23. That's never stopped the Sox before. But really he does help on defense in most spots, especially the way the Sox will use him.
  24. 2 fWAR last year with a negative offensive rating. Big time positive UZR/150 at 2b, positive Lf/RF numbers, and really negative at SS, 9 runs below average at 3b
