  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) As I understood it, companies needed to be able to pass the stress tests before paying it back. That only makes sense. Which was the biggest problem... they were imposing new standards after forcing companies to take the money in the first place.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) They had some good moments, but they were also terrible in spots AJ strikes out. Leiter: "oh dont throw the bat down, thats just wrong. You should never show frustration like that, there are kids in the stadium" Apparently he ignored the frustration showed by the Yanks when they K'ed? Like when Arod got in the face of the umpire after a wide strike three call?
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:31 AM) When did that happen? Everything I've seen so far is that these funds could be paid back whenever. Many firms already have. Now, there were some firms that were encouraged to take it even though they didn't need it, to a point of bullying even. But I haven't read anywhere that a bank wasn't allowed to pay it back when they wanted to (unless it was some small or regional bank that was insolvent or in protection/receivership or the like). The fed government forced all companies to wait for quite awhile to pay them back after practically forcing them to take it.
  4. blow the damned thing up.
  5. After the flack he recieved as a big time overdraft, it is nice to see him putting up some great numbers. Hopefully this means our scouting and developmental changes are really starting to payoff.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:24 AM) The key factor here is the whole TARP aspect. If GS, ML and others are paying out big stupid bonuses, I have zero issue with that. They want to bury themselves and lose mid-level employees who get frustrated, then fine. But, in this case, WE (the taxpayers) now are key stakeholders in the business. That's where it gets bad, and where they shouldn't be allowed to do this as long as they still have government funds. If they pay it all back with the intended interest, then from their on, they can do what they want. But if it is found that while they were still on the government dole, and were doing this, while laying off thousands, then I hope Congress b****-slaps them and uses the muscle built into TARP to kick out the executives (again) and bring in a new team, rinse and repeat, until some management team finally gets it right. To me, its the equivalent of... I'm on a board of directors of a firm that is in bankruptcy protection. If I find out the high level management gave themselves giant bonuses, when the company is still struggling, I push the board to can their asses. Even in cases where companies weren't allowed to pay back funds?
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) It was a really wide strike zone, but it was being called on both ends that way, so I think a nice GMAFB is called for. I didn't get to see AJ's slide, I heard it on the radio. Was it dirty? It wasn't dirty at all. He slid very late and forced Cano to throw around him, or to throw it through his face. Cano went around him and threw it away. He didn't even roll Cano. His take out the other day in Minny was much more "dirty".

  9. Hurricanes should not get male names. Really, is there anything more scary than a bloated angry female?
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 08:44 AM) It just keeps getting better! The Red Wings have been getting away with this s*** for years... Like I said, it is totally obvious that there are bitter feelings left out there and that is where this is all coming from.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:39 AM) IRC is a security risk as deemed by our host so it won't go on our server. Otherwise the whole site gets kicked off by the server company.
  12. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:38 AM) We didn't like foreign entanglements so much then. They had the chance of compromising some of our values. Well publicly anyway. Behind closed doors Roosevelt and Churchill were trying to figure out a way to get America into the war.
  13. Of course the plan that they get from Communist China works the best
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:00 AM) A small part of me hopes that O-Cab gets traded to the Twins just so we could see how far Joe Cowley's vendetta will go. Did anyone read some of his tweets about Swish during the game? Like this one? Swish is probably digging himself so much right now he doesn't know what to do. Maybe he could put more gel in his faux hawk.about 1 hour ago from txthttp://twitter.com/cst_sox Is this really necessary? Is this anything more then petty and vindictive? Cowley's been doing this s*** for years, and he's yet to be called on it. Not liking two players who had a difficult time here is perfectly logical. But continuing to harp on them even after they leave the team, offering nothing conducive to intelligent conversation is ridiculous for a guy who wants to be respected in his profession. Its been mentioned before. It makes it impossible to get anything out of him, because instead of being informative, it becomes cheap. You could get what he gives from pretty much any blogger on the street.
  15. QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) BOOOOOOOOOOO I won't be using the chat until it's back to IRC. You won't be using chat then FWIW.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:54 PM) Zumaya officially done for the season This is going to be a battle of attrition in the central. Tigers have lost Zumaya, Twins have lost Slowey.... It is going to be 83 wins for the post season.
  17. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) Not funny lost, my Mom has one leg. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) You already did this today, you have to wait until tomorrow before you can do it again. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Okay. But Kyle works at IHOP........just sayin. Excellent work boys.
  18. Happy Birthday
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) I glued my f***in fingers together. Military intelligence at its finest
  20. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) Personally, I enjoy the long, agonizing wait. It'd be even funnier if they released one name, once a week, to make sure they grab the headlines. You group them all together, as others have pointed out, it takes away from the circus. Some will escape criticism. If it were me, I'd purposely release the name of a player who had a good week. Or even better, wait until a team is in the World Series, THEN release a few names. Anything to make people embarrassed. Hell, it's not even that I care about steroids or HGH -- I just love watching people complain in baseball. Its the perfect payback for the game that purposefully drug its feet while gaining all of the benefits of this crap.
  21. Scott Reifert Ozzie on Alexei: "He's fine. This kid has no meat. He's all bone." Guillen indicated that he hoped Ramirez would be back by Sunday.
  22. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) White Sox call up Lillibridge in case Ramirez goes on the DL July 30, 2009, 3:55 PM By: Bruce Levine The Chicago White Sox have called up Brent Lillibridge from Triple-A Charlotte to wait and see if Alexei Ramirez has responded from treatment or must go on the disabled list. Ramirez injured his left ankle in Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. He had an MRI today. Results are unknown at this time. As of 3:50, Ramirez walked into the clubhouse and was being checked out by the Sox training staff. That doesn't make things very clear... Has Lillibridge been recalled, or just flew up to Chicago just in case Ramirez goes on the DL?
