  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) That would cause most people to black out and go to the hospital with alcohol poisoning. Hmm, if enough people participated, we might be able to make up for the social security and medicare shortfalls, because not many people would live to an old age.
  2. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) Has anyone heard about the possibility of a derivatives tax. Someone here on the CBOE said Pelosi is trying to pass a tax on every derivatives trade because Wall Street cuased this mess. One more reason she is clueless. The only part of the system that operated properly was the exchanges. Chicago did not cause the problem. Durbin and Obama should be all over this, and I do believe they would have our back on this one. Its true. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=new...id=a5UhcbI4jecU
  3. I was actually looking at an old Brandon Allen jersey yesterday. Very cool.
  4. I have had great luck in Cleveland, and that was back in the old days where they sold out everyday. I went up to Detroit years ago, but it was a game with about 1000 people there.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) So I guess the question remains, if what we did in 2005 worked for us so well, why has both Ozzie and the team in general moved away from that approach? The dirty secret is that they have been trying to for a leadoff man for a couple of years now, ever since Pods got hurt and worthless. Kenny has tried trading for a couple of guys, but it hasn't worked out. Instead of standing pat and doing nothing he has made whatever incremental improvements he could, and the guys available just happened to be mostly plodding powerhitters. Its not like Kenny has no clue we are weak at the top of the order, but knowing it, and getting a deal done are two different things.
  6. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) MILWAUKEE (AP) - Joe Biden has met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili (sah-kahsh-VIH'-leh) in Milwaukee. Photographers took pictures of the pair at the start of the meeting, but reporters weren't allowed into the session. Phil Walzak, a spokesman for Barack Obama's campaign, calls it a private meeting between the Democratic vice presidential candidate and a head of state. Earlier this week, reporters were initially barred from meetings between Biden's Republican counterpart, Sarah Palin, and world leaders. But the restriction was later dropped. Walzak is rejecting any comparisons between the two situations Waiting for the MSM revolt........ I really wish Biden would get the same type of examiniation that Palin is. The guy is a walking mistake machine, but no one seems to notice or care. At least with Palin you can say she is new and could get better. Biden has been around for decades and he is STILL making this stupid mistakes. He has gotten a completely free pass while the media has Swiftboated Palin at every turn. Its unbelievable.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) Is that just a hunch? I would predict he'll pitch if it's a save situation. Its a hunch. He pitched in 3 innings last night. That's 34 pitches, plus three innings worth of warm ups.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) and Lee isn't pitching fo the Indians Here is the line-up I would throw out there for all four (hopefully 3) games and say get it done you are all veterans Swisher-Cabrera-Thome-Dye-Griffey-Konerko-Ramirez -AJ-Uribe Bullpen for all three games Dotel - Thorton - Linebrink - Jenks, that's it. Jenks isn't going to be available for at least tonights game.
  9. And I am sick and tired of everyone saying this year was a failure dispite all of the good things that happened this year. In 2008 we found not one, but two front of the rotation pitchers. We found an MVP for left field. We found our SS for the next few years and we spent less than five million dollars total to do it. We had prospects emerge out of our farm system that look like they might actually help this franchise in the next couple of years, including three minor league teams that made their playoffs. We were in first place for over 150 days this year. Our attendence stayed steady so we won't have to cut payroll in 2009 I know many people wasted the good times worrying this year about what bad was going to happen, and totally missed the good, but it was there. Its all perspective.
  10. Here was my response

  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) So, does the loser of the debate donate their webpages to the poor kids in Africa? Nice work
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) While OC made what I believe to be some valid points, one being they should win some games before they start, there are a couple problems with his comments in my mind. Players prepare themselves for games differently. Some must focus for hours, some play cards, some joke around. Everyone who is on a major league roster, even if they suck, are excellent baseball players and have gone about their business most likely the same way for many years and its obviously been successful. Why, if you're a leader, do you call out your teammates on a sports radio show? Why not face to face? I know some will say how do I know he hasn't done that. Reading Ozzie's comments, its rather obvious he has not. And, if you're such a leader and you don't like how your team goes about their business, why is it you don't say anything until the end of September? OC is a whiner. Ozzie doesn't like him because OC thinks Scoscia is a better manager than Ozzie. Of course every baseball person not named Hawk thinks exactly the same thing. OC perhaps had valid points, but his timing and venue of his remarks were terrible. I'm sure the Sox spin will be 24 guys + 1 guy. After building him up all season, they will say he's addition by subtraction. I hope they are right. One question. Do we know Cabrera didn't say anything months ago?
  14. I will guarentee you that the exact samething has been done on the Obama side of things, it just hasn't leaked out.
  15. Just remember when this plan ends up being a disaster, these are the people who were voting on it... http://mobile.washingtonpost.com/detail.js...p;p=1&all=1
  16. I am going to predict that Brandon Allen is one of the guys traded this off season. Call it a hunch based on history.

  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) Yes, you're right, they should keep spreading lies. Sounds like the normal McCain stance, so I don't question why you would back it. Lies = good for America So you'd be OK with McCain's camp trying to have everyone shutdown that spread all of the Palin lies?
  19. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 03:35 AM) Am I the only one that thinks 30 rock is very overrated? It's not terrible, I just don't find it that great. IMO it's no where near the office. I don't like it because in general I just don't find Tina Fey funny at all. Every once in a while there is something funny, but generally, it is too forced.
  20. Steak on the grill...
  21. QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Seriously. In '05 on my birthday was the day Sizemore missed the ball and Berroa scored. It needed to be your birthday for the last three days
  22. I actually have respect for him for delivering this message. Everyone else has been too busy acting scared of Minnesota. Besides Ozzie, he is the only guy I have heard call out this team to step up and win some games. Good for OC.
  23. 52 people so far on the first day! Excellent! Welcome in!
