Soxtalk Softball Part II
QUOTE (mreye @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) Damn, you're quick! And the plan is for a giant tailgate, not the patio party? What lot is the tailgate? I'm sure I'll forget all this and have to ask again before then. THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! Yeah the patio party was too expensive for the college crowd so we are going to gather and tailgate. We haven't planned where that will be exactly, but we will figure it out and get details to everyone.

US Olympic Basketball Team
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) They'll still struggle when opposing teams slow the pace of the game down to a crawl, and play nothing but zone, forcing the likes of Wade to jack up 3's. That's the only reason Michael Redd's on the team BTW. In that case you have three damned good post scorers on the roster to collapse the middle and open up the driving lanes.

Don Imus doesn't get it
QUOTE (Soxy @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) I'll be honest, I haven't had cable in about 7 months, and I don't miss tv at all. It's odd, because without the really biased news I am better at catching biased reporting in printed sources. Without the constant barrage of that bulls*** you get a lot better at sifting and thinking for yourself. If it wasn't for baseball and history, I could easily do with out cable myself.

Where is Alexei's Future on This team
Alexei has really surprised me with how well he has hit this year. I didn't figure he would be ready for major league pitching this early, and I have been totally wrong. There is the chance that it could be a fluke right now, but he really doesn't swing and miss many pitches for as big of a strike zone as he gives himself. The $5 million we gave him is going to be a STEAL.

Don Imus doesn't get it
QUOTE (Soxy @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:50 AM) The problem is that the "backlash" just gives him more and more free press. If we would just ignore these types of bigots and idiots, well, they'd be more likely to go away. Instead we give them a career boost. Mostly because there is an entire 24 hour news industry that exists just to express outrage about things, so that people watch them. Its a sad little circle.

Don Imus doesn't get it
QUOTE (Soxy @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:33 AM) That he can stay crap like that without any repercussions? And guess what he is back doing again... Imus gets it all right.

Mariotti cowers when writer confronts him at Wrigley
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) Why even start a thread if you are not going to give the whole story? True or not why bother! Do a google search. It was in yesterday's Trib.

US Olympic Basketball Team
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Paul - Bryant - James - Bosh - Howard is probably the best team USA has put out sine 96, but still not comparable. I like having the more athletic big men to cover the more versitile players of the rest of the world. This could be a very good team.

Don Imus doesn't get it
Why should he "get it"? Imus got rich doing this, and got his job back after saying crap like this. What lesson has he really learned?

Now RIAA considers AM and FM radio piracy...
I thought most stations paid royalites already? I know we did when I was in college.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:20 AM) Having worked on large campaigns, that probably is how it works believe it or not. In fact, I'm willing to bet that the campaign didn't actually send the fundraiser letters but rather had its friends who control those lists send them out, at least initially. Obama has been well funded, but is far behind on general election cash. As of last month, he only had 10 million on hand for post convention election procedures which kind of puts them in money vacuum mode. Does the fact that letters got in the hands of lobbyists mean anything? No. They could sign up for the Obama campaign on the website and get a fundraising letter. Will it mean something if that check actually was accepted and not vetted? Yes. Yikes, I had no idea it was that ineffecient. You would think it would get cutoff at the frontend, not the backend.

For Dems only.
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:15 AM) Well I guess my morning can't get any worse: LOL. You do know, that I know, that you can't block an admin silly. Anyways, maybe if you ask for a little respect AND show a little respect for the opposite threads, it would happen again. I pretty much gave up when I asked for a little respect of the opposing threads from you and AHB and got none. I have no problems leaving this thread alone if I also get the same respect in return.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:09 AM) Your point? Oh, there is a point to this rant? Huh. I'll hang up and wait for your answer.

For GOP only
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:08 AM) For months I was hearing "wait till the Republicans go after Obama...what Hillary is saying is nothing". More of the same old Democratic fear mongering. Most of that was being said by Hillary herself, to try to convince people that she was a more viable candidate. The same kind of crap is being spewed now about the 527's, dispite the sizable cash advantage the Dems have there.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Maybe. It sounds like these people got a form letter because they were on a list. The real question is if they gave donations and if they would be accepted. So they didn't check the names before they put them on the mailing list when it is much easier and less messy to eliminate them, but they are going to give the money back after they receive it and have to report it, thus opening the door to the GOP and the media to prove Obama broke another campaign promise, complete with the Obama teary eyed apology and explanation including the blame and firing of someone insignificant? Sounds about par for the course.

For Dems only.
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:03 AM) At this point it seems like Dem only and GOP only is no longer being honored. It's anything goes in both threads. That's not what you guys meant to have happen, is it?

Your first place Chicago White Sox!
As I said from the first post in this thread, the whole point is to enjoy the good times. A weekend like this one should only reinforce the whole point of this thread!

Brian Anderson
QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) He's never going to amount to anything, they should cut ties now while they could still get something for him. Sure he's great in the field, I'll give him that, but I would almost rather let them DH for him and give our pitchers a chance to hit. So it is so obvious that Anderson sucks that random message board posters can see it, but not the MLB GMs who will be lining up to give us something for him? OK.
