  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) Don't we have like a bandwidth limit or something? Sure, let's crash the server again!
  2. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) There you go, assuming that Nuke is anti-immigrant, when he is anti ILLEGAL immigrant. Do you think the laws governing LEGAL entry into this country should be erased and ignored/ Well of course Nuke hates forgeiners, that's why he signed up for the army and is in Iraq fighting for them...
  3. I get the feeling this immigration bill is payback to the corporations for the new minimum wage increase...
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 01:39 AM) Gage vs. North, eh? Celebrity boxing at its finest. More like a quasi-loser slap fight...
  5. Abbas has dissolved the government and declared a state of emergency in Gaza. The crazy thing is the fighting going on, and how just brutal it is. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,282195,00.html
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:26 PM) No, but I still think they would be around .500. Have all of the Sox's opponents been 100% healthy at the time we played them? You can turn it into whatever you want to turn it into, but to say that injuries haven't hurt this team is just wrong.
  7. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) Yeah I had read an article that Boston was targetting him in the offseason. That makes a lot more sense to me...
  8. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) The Sox need to have a discussion with Mark and come to a gentleman's agreement for 5 y 75 million to be signed AFTER the season. Then ask him if he would allow himself to be traded to make his team better for the next 5 years. If he really doesn't want to be traded but wants to come back, then extend him now and don't trade him. If he doesn't want to be traded, but will not come to a contract extension, trade him anyway. Screw the in season contract talk distraction stuff. I'm pretty sure the team is distracted quite a bit already by all of the losing. That would actually be quite illegal.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) OK Hawk. I guess it'll OK for Cub fans to blame this year's failure on Wood and prior not being healthy? The A's don't look like they aer gogin to win the division. should they blame it on Rich Harden not being healthy? Why should anybody be surprised of injuries if you build around injury prone players? Would the Sox be eight games under .500 if everyone was healthy?
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) not even close. Heroes>Lost at this point Well except Heroes wouldn't exsist if LOST hadn't paved the way for it.
  11. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) lost producers won't pull a "sopranos" ending LOST>Sopranos
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) If Ozzie loses his job because his team was the worst in baseball this year, I think I'll hate KW and JR, especially if the replacement is someone like Razor Shines. The irony is under JR, he has given three people who have been Manager of the Year with the Chicago White Sox, their first jobs. I wonder how many ownership groups can say that?
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) I wont argue that but if he's up here, he needs to play. Sitting him on the bench is only going to slow down his progression. He wasn't brought up here to sit on the bench and by Ozzie's recent comments, that might be exactly what is going to happen soon. Gonzalez isn't going to play everyday. Its obvious this was a motivational shot towards Fields. Ozzie does this stuff all of the time. Unless Fields is a complete idiot, he is going to be playing at least 5 days a week. hell he played Anderson for months before he finally benched him, and that was dispite all of the extra crap going on behind the scenes.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) He's basically thrown guys right into the fire, and when they fail at first(most young players are going to fail right away) then they basically get thrown under the bus. And it seems like it's taken a whole week before he's got tired of Fields. Ozzie hasn't exactly proven that he can be patient with young players and if we're going to rebuild, he's going to have to learn. Josh Fields isn't ready to be in the majors yet. It doesn't matter how many lumps he takes, until he fixes his swing, it will be the same results. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 09:25 AM) They can point all they want. But be sure when they do that they also take into consideration their actions as well. Their demise with the Sox was not without their contribution. No doubt, if you go out and play hard everyday, and listen to the staff, they will protect you to the ends of the earth.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 09:02 AM) No, I didn't. Thanks for clarifying. But for the record, IMO you are incorrect. I agree with you. I know everyone will point to guys like Brandon and Brian, but there are also plenty of examples of him throwing guys into key situations, and giving them plenty of chances.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) Yet again, we see a good idea executed poorly by government. Just not ours this time. But because its a good idea, I hope we don't simply abandon it because its been poorly implemented in some cases. I think that is exactly what some politicians want - take an idea they disagree with, move it forward but into a hornet's nest, then point to the failure and say "I told you so - this idea sucks!" Pisses me off. The problem is, this isn't a good idea. You cannot apply the concepts of a commodity to a gas, and expect it to work as a regulatory device. There is no way to physically limit a gas, which means you cannot limit supply. It is impossible to make something function on a supply and demand basis, when you have an infinate supply of it. It is a market imperfection. There is no way a carbon exchange will ever work.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 09:05 AM) He grew up a Cubs fan, which is why I think he would have gone there. Besides that, the Sox and Indians were expected to be two of the best teams from the 2006 to 2008 seasons, etc. I'm sure Thome wouldn't mind getting sent to a team who can finally help him win a ring. I highly doubt Thome's dream situation as he finishes up his career is to be on a team that goes into a rebuilding mode, which is almost assured of happening here. Actually you basically proved my point. Jim has other factors in his head versus just winning, or his list would have looked different. The thing all three teams have in common, was that they are all places he would be comfortable. If he was worried about rebuilding, he wouldn't have listed the Cubs as an option, no matter how big of a fan he was. If he was worried about winning a ring, there would have been a bunch more high dollar teams on that list instead.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) Thome came to Chicago thinking he could get a ring. I don't think he's too confident in that now, and he'd jump at the chance to make the playoffs. When the Phillies asked Thome about waiving his no trade clause there were exactly 3 teams he said he would accept a trade to: White Sox, Cleveland Indians, and the Chicago Cubs. He either wanted to play in Cleveland where he played most of his career, or he wanted to play at home. Winning a ring was not his big motivation, or you would have seen teams like New York and Boston on this list, and you definately would not have seen the 2006 Cubs on that list.

  20. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) So far, Ozzie has been dead right about every prospect he said couldn't play. Yeah, no one has exactly proven him wrong so far...
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) My worst case (I'm the lone other) is that we have a fire sale and f*** it up. Winner. And instead of one bad year, we re-live the bad times of the late 80's, complete with 8000 person attendence.
  22. Well I guess if you sit in front of your computer all day long, you might as well get your exercize by jumping to conclusions.
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Oh don't EVEN bring out the bagheads... LMAO! Southsider? Earth to southsider... Hell there is no Andre Roy on this team... I ain't afraid! QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) you're a real jewel... I would go with something that rhymes with jewel... QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) White Sox prospects called up this season (including BA) have combined for: .188 avg 7 HR 16 RBI in 207 AB's Yeah, injuries haven't hurt this team at all...
  24. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 07:10 AM) From MLB.com This kind of stuff always P-O's Guillen and Williams. It wouldn't surprise me if Prinz and Day go down and MacDougal and the next warm body in line come up. So we probably are going to be seeing Aardsma and MacDougal back here soon...
