  1. Yeah for those who are curious, here is Daigle's AAP thread. The first post is the guys stats through June 14th of 05, so very close in time to what Collaro has done. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...st&p=719367
  2. From the Joe Crede DL thread QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) Did you recently stay at a Holiday Inn Express? QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) nah. they don't have the coin-operated beds.
  3. To one of the original Soxtalkers
  4. They hired Slider as their new hitting coach.
  5. COngrats to Anaheim
  6. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:59 AM) Leo Daigle. And I don't give a flying f*** if Collaro hits .280 at Birmingham, he is a fringe prospect who will get eaten alive if he ever sees the bigs. My money is that he's a rule V choice next year and is shipped back to us next year. That's it. Thanks Mike. Collaro is sounding more and more like Daigle. I guess we will see what happens.
  7. Unfortunately someone already beat Jason to "fixing" the Sox.
  8. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:49 AM) You live by the sword...you die by the sword. Boras' model program has been waiting for the big payday via free agency. This one has bit him and his client bad. Ask Juan Gonzalez how that worked out for him...
  9. So anyone got anymore guesses on how things end? -Tony dead -Tony in jail -NY mob blood bath, Tony on top -Tony flips to testify against NY mob -Something totally different
  10. If this isn't an arguement for the death penalty, I don't know what is...
  11. 3 shutout innings for a save. How often do you see a guy even go more than one inning now adays?
  12. *Sigh* This was worst case scenario, and of course it happened. If you ask me, I really think Kenny did try to deal Joe to NYY in a Buehrle/Garcia and Crede for Arod deal. I think he also talked to Anaheim about trading Joe over there for Figgins and a pitcher, because there was too much smoke there for it to be nothing as well. I think Anaheim backed out because of their apprehension over Crede's back after dealing with McPhearson's problems. The whole world knew about Joe's back, so I doubt anyone was busting down the door to take a chance on a guy who is getting really close to free agency, has Borass as an agent, has a bad back, and refused to have surgery. How many teams do you think would have actually paid up for that?
  13. Who was the Sox minor leaguer a few years back who put up HUGE HR numbers at A ball after repeating it a couple of times, got moved up to AAA and sucked, and was out of our system after that season?
  14. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) wow, you guys must really think fields is going to be great, with all this excitement around here You would think we just got chavez to take crede's place. Crede is an allstar caliber 3b who is a clutch hitter. Fields is nowhere near crede, I am surprised that people would be excited to see our runner up gold glove 3rd baseman go down. Why don't we just call up all our farm boys, everyone here loves those guys better than the pro guys anyway. All these guys come up and have a good game or two and then the scouts file their reports and they can't hit or pitch worth a damn. Everytime we call these guys up we are at risk of not getting value when we trade them because teams know they are either not ready or they never will be ready. The grass is always greener. The best hitting coach is the one we don't have, the best 3rd baseman is the one putting up numbers in the minors, and the best QB in town in the backup. Same old story, different day. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:21 AM) So you're saying don't listen to the hitting coach? Especially the young players? Riiiiiiiiight. I'm sure that'll fly by. OK, I want to see where Greg Walker has ever publicly preached to pull the ball and try to hit home runs.
  15. I wonder if our offense is going to show up every 17 years now?
  16. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) But isn't he walking away or "opting out" of that contract at the end of this year, supposedly? In that case, the Rangers' subsidy would be gone, and I doubt the Yankees are going to give a further subsidy to unload him...if it's a typical KW deal, instead of paying the money, we'll take the money and give up talent, like we did with the Young/Vazquez trade. Essentially, the D-Backs (at least it looked like this at the time) agreed to take on a very questionable El Duque deal (I think it was between $6.5-7.0 million, w/ incentives) AND give money to the White Sox to help pay for Vazquez, but the price for that was Chris Young, which might prove a very high price to pay for the White Sox to have saved $5-7.5 million dollars. If he tells the Yankees he wants to walk away, he could force a trade to a team of his preference, giving the Yankees something in return, while getting an extention of his current deal from another team. The Yankees would much rather see something done like that so they don't lose Alex for nothing, and the odds are that the receiving team would like to make some payroll room of their own to make it easier to absorb Rodriguez. It make sense for all parties.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) The Sox started out pretty hot last year too. It was the second half of the year that caught up with them The fatigue could also go a long way towards explaining the injuries.
  18. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) What's being overlooked here is that the major refiners are spending a lot of money to upgrade and expand their existing facilities. I guess it's just that much easier to expand what you already have than it is to try and build a new facilities. For the people who are already refining, yes. But for the people who could be getting rich of it, who aren't oil execs, it makes no sense.
  19. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Why do I have a feeling Fields won't play? Ozzie is going to keep on keepin' on and playing Cintron at 3B every day. *sigh* If he is here, he is playing. Mark my words.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) For the love of God, quit blaming Walker for everyone's approach. If he truely was preaching what everyone is saying, what a leader he must be if everyone is willing to listen to him, and give up millions in potential income and piss away their careers. Disregard Fields' strikeout totals in the minors. If he fans as much in the majors or even more, I'm sure it will be Walker's fault. Seriously. Thank you.
  21. If the Knights are still in Indy, getting Fields up here shouldn't be a problem.
  22. *Sigh* Thome Podsednik Crede Erstad Hall Ozuna All DL time.
