You gotta love it when it is illegal to talk on a celluar handset in your car, and you see a cop talking on her cellphone while driving in her squad car.

So where's Jay been?
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) This is funny, from Scott Reifert's blog this morning: "Our favorite columnist took to the airwaves on WSCR earlier this week to explain that he is, indeed, on vacation. During the interview, he again criticized me (imagine that) when responding to a question from North about his contact with the team. North quoted from a recent article in the Chicago Reader that mentioned "emails" that had been sent to me. To clarify, the columnist has never sent me an email. His preferred method of communication is voicemail, and I have received some strong ones over the years (imagine that). Many probably wouldn't get past the MLBAM censor to be posted here, but there have been a couple recently that we have debated making public, solely to show everyone just who and what we deal with when it is not vacation season. We might have that debate once again ... During his interview, the columnist also criticized the Chicago Tribune's media writer for not calling him or his editor before writing articles about the issue. I can't speak for the general public, but I sense some irony here. Is he asking the Tribune writer to talk personally to his sources (in a sense to "show up")? Is that ironic or is it just me?" This is one vote for releasing the tapes. Blow the lid off of the fraud.

Happy Birthday Gene Honda!!!
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) Happy Birthday to the man who brings both a wealth of Sox knowledge and also some serious funny to Soxtalk. One of the All-time Great Soxtalkers. (Sure, that's like being King of the Dips***s, but what are ya gonna do?) I want to quote this, just because it is better than anything I would have said. Happy Birthday to one of hte most dedicated Sox fans out there

Fields and Sweeney not available
No big surprises there... Who is really going to want to help the World Champions, who already happen to have the second best record in baseball? The only chance the Sox have is to try to catch a team who decides at the last minute to just dump all of the salary that they can and play for next year. Otherwise the Sox are going to have to way overpay to get a guy they like. The 06 trade market is going to be another Geoff Blum kind of year.

Something From Yahoo
Pure speculation. It would solve the OF problems for a decade, but I don't see it happening.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) I'm not sure why you'd start a new one. With over 4000 posts it has gotten a little long and can take longer to load. To be honest it was just an idea...

Get rid of the penny?
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) I think this belongs in the pile with all the other crap that Congress is moving on that ISN'T WORTH THE TIME. I wish they'd put this much thought into more important issues, like, I don't know... poverty, the environment, crime.... Once those are fixed or on the way to fixed, then worry about the penny. EDIT: Also, while we might save $40M, there will be all sorts of costs we take on as well. Think about all the administrative costs of dealing with the weird rounding rules, differences between cash and credit purchases, etc. That alone will be a cost burden on private businesses well in excess of $40M. DING! this is a complete waste of time. IIRC this same guy has introduced this bill for years straight, and it hasn't gotten anywhere. I mean if you all don't want your pennies, I have a baby who is going to need every one for a college fund, feel free to send all of your unwanted change my way Also another little known fact is that the US loses money on the nickel as well. One more FYI, is that the mint was never intended to be a money making (as in a profitable) venture. All it was meant to do was to create and supply a universally recognizable and trustworthy monetary unit for US citizens. The other side of the coin (pun intended) is that the mint is make a ton of money off of all of the coin redesignnings by people taking this stuff out of circulation. Think of all of the new quarters and nickels as examples of that.

Just out of curiousity how many people still read and respond to this thread? Is it time to retire this version and start a CAAT 2?

"Beyond Awful"
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) You have to admit that this claim has much more creedance than those did. Teh Widge brings very little to the table. He is also a back up catcher. AJ plays 120-130 games a year, so we are talking about a minimal sample here. I know Widger hasn't been good but geesh.

Rally Crede
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) '08?!?!? The Rally Crede tells Washington when the elections are...it doesn't wait for them. Rally Crede in '06!!! The Rally Crede doesn't need elections. He just tells the Bilderbergs and the Tri-Laterists what to do. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) The only thing more powerfull than the Rally Crede is....................CHUCK NORRIS Chuck Norris once got invited to pitch BP to the Rally Crede, and pissed down his leg as he was walking to the mound.

Rally Crede
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 06:36 AM) The Rally Crede doesn't need a bat to hit a home run! He uses his mighty forearms to scare the ball over the LF wall! Hail the Rally Crede!!! The Rally Crede gave birth to both Ribbie and Rhubarb, and the conception was immaculate and beautiful at the sametime. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:12 AM) This is sad and lame. Hey its really hot in Chicago, can you quit raining on parades here and try it in the city instead?

Tsunami hits Indonesia.
If I understand it right, this is all still on the same plate that ruptured the day after Christmas in 04, right? Either way the amount of activity down there is just CRAZY, there have been tons of earthquakes and volcanic activity throughout that whole region.

Soxtalk's no tolerance policy
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) Just let it go guys. Respect other posters, dont instigate fights, and argue the post, not with the posters. If your typing a response and ask yourself "Should I say this?" or "Is this questionable?" than 99.9% of the time, you shouldn't. Just use common sense and everything will resolve itself. An even better question to ask yourself would be "How would I react if someone said this to me."

Is this the year that the Sox have a 50 homerun hitter?
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) I think he'll reach 50 if he stays healthy. As was mentioned earlier, he's due for one of his patented hot streaks (and it might have kicked in if the AS break hadn't come along ... 5 dingers in July). I predict 52. Just remember, Yankee Stadium and Comerica Park have nice short RF porches...
