  1. Look, whoever decided this was their guy blew it. I think that Madrigal is why the Sox shook up their drafting team. But the one thing they did right was to dump him after it became clear he wasn't who they though they were drafting. You can argue about who they got back, but dumping him wasn't the mistake.
  2. If the Sox aren't going to do anything for another OF, I would rather have Elvis vs Madrigal for sure if that is all they have to spend.
  3. Neither has Madrigal, and you have to give up something to get him.
  4. Madrigal hasn't done anything to prove he is worth trading for.
  5. That isn't "success". He's hurt for 2/3 of each season, so those guys are still going to get 400 ABs, and when he has played, he’s barely been over replacement. Romy had a higher OPS+ than Madrigal did last year.
  6. I am not. What value is 200 awful ABs? We still need another 400 PAs from someone else to start with. In 3 seasons, last year was his career high in ABs, and he put up numbers worse than Leurys career numbers. He's put up 2.4 bWAR and 1.8 fWAR in 3 seasons total. We'd need like 1 WAR to be better than what Nick has averaged his 1st 3 years.
  7. Unless he is willing to spend a couple of years in MiLB the math doesn't work.
  8. Again, that is an insanely low bar. Nick Madrigal was terrible last year. In 200 ABs he was a replacement level hitter.
  9. His defensive ratings actually did tick up last year. Basically a zero arm and slightly positive ErrR, for a top 10 UZR.
  10. What part of his .588 OPS and 68 OPS+ am I supposed to be impressed by? He was trash last year.
  11. He is in his 1st arb year, hasn't been healthy or productive, and didn't sound like he made friends in the clubhouse. Not sure he is better than Romy or Lenyn, or even a healthy Leury.
  12. It's a looooooong running Soxtalk joke to have fun with thread titles. Relax. Take the edge off. No one actually cares, they are just playing along.
  13. No one doesn't thing JAZZ would be an improvement. What we think is we don't need to flush our entire farm system, or a starter plus most of the farm system to make it happen. This isn't OOTP.
  14. Round is a shape.
  15. 2nd TJS is typically 1.5 to 2 years worth of recovery time. If he had surgery in May of 2022, he probably won't pitch this season.
  16. OK, now this is how you come into a signing press conference.
  17. Here's the thing. If you transported the entire top $5 line to this era, they would all be toast, except MAYBE Tom Seaver, though I am guessing he probably didn't arm tunnel enough to hide his curve-ball enough to make it a weapon in 2023. Especially those 78 mph 1900's junkballers would be teeball fodder in this day and age.
  18. Giolito pretty much does this complete rebuild every off season.
