  1. Orton is the starter IMO until proven otherwise.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) For every person like this one, who is let out too early, there is another person who does their time and genuinely reforms who is kept in too long. There's a reason I dislike mandatory sentencing on all levels: sometimes, a mandatory sentence is too long for a crime committed (i.e. 3 strikes kicking in on a drug possession charge or something like that), and then on the other hand, there's cases like this, where the sentence was clearly mandated to be too short. I'm in favor of giving more power to judges, juries, and parole boards in these matters. Rather than mandating durations, why can't each one be evaluated on a case by case basis? We're already trying and imprisoning people on a case by case basis. Is it? What kind of recivitism rates are we talking about for violent offenders? For Sexual predators? For child abusers? Isn't 120 offense enough to know that this woman probably isn't going to be able to handle freedom? If not, how many times does it take?
  3. What's wrong with your wife?
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Yeah, man, thank goodness we invaded and put a stop to the torture of Iraqis. You are absolutely right. We should have stood by and let genocide happen, like we did in Africa.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) That $250 billion had to go somewhere (read: Halliburton, Exxon Mobile, etc.) to generate economic growth, come on! But forget the fact that 3,000 died in one day here. Oh wait, they're not connected. Nevermind. Not to mention the people that had been killed in between the first and the second gulf wars, or were still going to be tortured and killed, or would have been victims of Saddams next war.
  6. He should not have been eligible. Anyone with professional major league expereince, should not be considered a rookie. maybe the MLB could use the NHLs age rule to circumvent the problems?
  7. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Do kids actually do this any more? Choose up sides, four a side, pitcher's hand out at first, center and right fields are foul. Fun times, indeed. Not where I live. Its all pick up basketball.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) It is.. we have them also and have no problems. Also.. I got 2 new phones within 3 months so if you do a little complaining they will likely hook you up with just a $20 activation fee. We STARTED complaining the second day we had the phones. At first they told us that we had to complain to the store we bought the phones at. Then after the first month the store told us that we had to call the company and complain. Then after we started calling the company they told us because it was after the first month they couldn't do anything for us. They could sell us new phones for full price, or we could buy out of our contract for the full price of $150 a phone. We called them every couple of weeks to every month for almost a year, before they FINALLY offered to send us different phones a month before our contract was up, only if we would renew our contract for not one, but two years. Finally after a particularly long argueing session making it up three layers of management they offered to let us out of our contract for no charge. We took down the name of the person who told us that. At first she refused to give us anything more than her first name. She wouldn't give us her email address or a direct line to get ahold of her. Finally she gave us a last name after much more arguing. Of course when we got our finally bill, there were $300 in charges plus taxes in addition to our last months bill. So we called them back and the name that she gave us didn't exsist, and she hadn't noted our account for anything at all, except for the disconnection. And she didn't even note that she had ordered it. After a bunch of research and arguing the guy finally found her email address noted to something in our account. The guy even accidentally admitted that they don't always give their real names. After that the guy who was helping us had the gall to ask if we wanted to pay the final bill over the phone. We told him we wouldn't pay a dime until their was a new bill in our hands that had the correct totals for everything. It took them three days of phone calls to "find" the mystery woman, and it took another two weeks to get a corrected bill. I can't tell you how many hours we wasted trying to get ANYTHING done with them, and I will make sure I tell everyone I can my stories just to make sure no one ever makes the mistake of getting them for service.
  9. QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) I've never had a problem with them. We had problems from day one, and they lied to us every step of the way. Even up to the end they were trying to scam us.
  10. Our of curiousity, how do Sweeneys numbers compare to Magglios in the minors? Didn't Maggs power come much later?
  11. Signing up with Cingular was you first mistake. Call them daily and b**** about every single thing that goes wrong and try to get out of your contract. They are basically a criminal organization as far as I am concerned. Their customer service personel use fake names, so that when they tell you they are going to do something, you can find them to prove it. Don't EVER sign up with Cingular wireless.
  12. NO big suprise here if this is true. Low level military people don't just do things willy nilly. They follow orders, as they are trained from day one. You might have a rouge person or two, but when it becomes a pattern, there is a reason for that. As I said after Abu Grahib, someone told them to do this, and that person has to be found.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) See, what you do is you let her have the baby, find a good home for him/her, then shoot the mom and dump her body in a garbage dump. Simple solution really. And then charge the guy who got her pregnant for the bullet.
  14. Hey Rex, I saw a Turkish religious leader tie the French headscarf ban into all of this, any insight?
  15. I really want to get up there and see this. Hopefully I will have the time.

Someone needs to fire the IRS's quantititive accountant.
  19. I miss sandlot baseball, professional athletes being normal people who were good at a game, kids being able to play in the streets, and decent music being on the radio.
  20. Happy Birthday CC!
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Mike, I am so glad that everything went well for your wife, and that everyone involved is healthy and happy. The little one looks adorable!! We were in a precarious spot for a while - too far "down the well" for a C-section, but not much progress with the pushing. The doctor was a little unsure what to do, but then FINALLY the kid started making her way to freedom again. Still, they eventually had to get the "salad tongs" and go get my little girl out. After all that, I literally can't believe that my wife wants to try getting pregnant again... The first thing the wife said when they put the baby in her hands, was that she had already forgotten all of the pain that she had just been in. The only time it was really bad was the two contractions in between head starting to come out, and the rest of the delivery. Other than that she wasn't too bad. Especially hearing some of the horror stories.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Pitocen is a life saver to women who have a stubborn bun in the oven. It comes with it's own risks.. but between that and having to have a c-section.. I'd take the drip. My sister had an epidural and loved it. Ang had a healthy dose of pitocin as she was induced for a few reasons. I think it makes sense when you are induced, but not when it is already happening on its own from what I understand, unless something else is going on.
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) 7 hours......you just tell your wife she ( AND YOU!! ) got off LUCKY!! My favorite quote from the Mrs. while she was in labor: "Somebody get me out of here!!!" ....it about KILLED me that I couldn't respond when she said it.... OHHH, I almost forgot this part! when they gave her the epidural, they messed it up! It only numbed her left side, so they had to ROLL HER ON HER SIDE WHILE SHE WAS IN LABOR to let the epidural fluids seep over to the other side!!!! Modern medicine, my fat ass!!! The epidural was actually a life saver. She got it around the 4 hour mark, and she had been in some serious pain, and hadn't even gotten to the heavy pushing part yet. But then again our nurse saw who the doctor was on call and didn't like him at all. So she waited until he went on lunch, paged the chief of staff who she loves, and he came and gave the epi, despite it being his day off, and he was only at the hospital for paperwork. He came up and from the time he got in the room until the time he left was under 5 minutes, and he did it perfectly, with complete precesion. This was even while she had a contraction in the middle of him pushing the epi, and it was still done perfectly.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Girls are so cool And I gotta throw out the song my Dad used to play for me as a baby. This is an excellent beautiful short track off of Abbey Road.
  25. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) My wife went 23 hours, including SEVEN hours of pushing! But our little girl is worth every second of it, and YES, that is VERY easy for me to say!!! Going back I had to respond... the wife had about 7 hours of labor, total. The hard pushing took about 45 minutes. And I agree with you 100% about the last line
