How I learned to keep worrying
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) I started this thread? I understand my post is the first in here and somebody has to be the one who "started" this thing, but I hope this thread doesn't make me seem like more of a b****er than I'm already seen as. Please note, I have not b****ed at all in this thread. It wasn't anything personal, it just seemed to be a good spot to start cutting. It could have been any number of people, that just happened to be where I decided.

How I learned to keep worrying
All right guys, I am splitting this whole arguement out of the *GAME* thread. Can we rehash this for the zillionth time somewhere else, or even better, not again?

the new headset cell phone law
Its pretty stupid actually. Studies have shown that it isn't really the act of getting the phone, it is the talking on the phone distracting you from driving that is the problem. A couple of studies have shown that talking on a cell phone makes peoples reaction times equivilent to being moderately drunk.

Sox @ A's 7/1 Game Thread 9:05CT
It gives me the chills to go into Oakland with them streaking. I get the feeling I am not going to want to even read a bit of the crap that some people are going to be posting if this series goes how I fear it will.

Define Small Ball Please
No one believed people who said that the Sox were going to hit a lot of HRs this year, and now everyone seems shocked that they are. Why? All you had to do was look at the line up to know that at least half the starters weren't going to be bunting.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I just went to make my pick to click and it is locked already. I noticed a few picks were Podsednik. Whoops. Im going with Rowand, I think he is going to snap out of his funk now that he has been dropped in the lineup. I'll put this post in there... You're in.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) An inanimate carbon rod can save a space shuttle full of astronauts and be the employee of the month at a nuclear (pronounced nuke-you-ler) power plant. It could surely out pitch Kevin Walker. And it could also be used to bash Walker in the head, thus rendering him unable to pitch.

Cubs Jokes
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) I've been playing the new Transplants disc non-stop, I can't peel myself away from it..... Seriously, I was trying to hold off from posting until the "Tidal Wave Of Negativity"TM about the team with the best record in baseball washed away a bit. Don't want to whine about it, but I didn't really feel comfortable with the overall tone, so I just stayed away for a while. Lurked a little bit, because I'm addicted..... I missed you soooo much, and then I tried calling but you never returned my calls, so I paged you, but you never called me back, so I tried driving by your house, but all the curtians were closed and I couldn't tell if you home or not, so I tried calling again on my cell phone, but you didn't answer, so I went up and rang your doorbell, and someone peaked out of the window real quick but closed the curtian right away, so I knocked and knocked and knocked, but still no one would answer, so I tried knocking at the backdoor, but you must have forgotten to take your dog back in when you left (because if you were home you would have answered) and he bit me, so instead I tried the front door again and the cellphone, but I got no answer at either one, so then I camped out in my car in your driveway and got out the wifi laptop, but you weren't on Soxtalk so I sent you an email, but you never responeded, then I tried finding you on AIM, but you weren't on there, so I went up to the door again and rang the bell somemore, but no one answered again, so then I thought you might be hurt so I called 911 and had the police come, and I told them about how much I tried getting ahold of you and would you believe it they arrested ME?!?!? So anyways if you get this message could you come down to the Cook County Jail and tell them this is all a misunderstanding, and there really is no restaining order? Thanks

FYI, since the game hasn't started yet, people who did not make Picks to Click can still make them until the first pitch. Only 22 people have picks in, and the standings are VERY tight.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Pods had 12 in 2004, and I think it's probably 1 of the biggest reasons he hit .240. Last year he was swinging too hard on every pitch (much like everyone else in our lineup), and because of that, he hit a ton of popups. Because he wasn't hitting the ball on the ground, he had no chance for his speed to manufacture hits for him, like he can this year. He hit 9 in 2003 when he hit .315. So yeah, he's due. But honestly? I wouldn't care at all if he didn't hit a single HR this year. I'd rather have him focusing on putting the ball on the ground. Every at bat. His job is to get on base and run, not to hit the ball over the fence. And he has done a great job of it. I almost hope he doesn't hit a HR all this year, because it means he has stayed within himself all year.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Excellent "stuff". Good K/9 numbers, atrocious BB/9 numbers. But, then again, some say we shouldn't look at minor league stats. So, I guess we need to look at his 'makeup'? He could probably use a little blush and eyeliner.
