Gosh darn it...
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Yea.. that's the popular choice with Zooks... everyone else in the area is a couple bucks more.. but I'm shocked to see some of the really professional websites. Sally is insured and bonded.. but some of these walkers are big time businesses with 4 or 5 "employees". I think I'm going to bite the bullet and change though. I can't be stressing about this, and the dogs have to go out. The thing is at that point their billing will also be done more professionally. They won't be able to play you both ways. They will also have people to cover if someone is sick. I'd say listen to the poor man

Daigle to Charlotte
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Daigle had more hits last night than Magglio has had on his entire rehab so far. Maggs is 1-19 between AAA and the majors this season. Money saved... roughly $74.95 million or so

Gosh darn it...
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Try to be nice to some people and they forget about it at the most convenient times for themselves... OK.. we have a dog walker. No big deal, $10 a day takes them for a walk, gives them fresh water, etc.. Usually this is just M-F but sometimes we need her on the weekend when my folks can't stop by and let them out. Soooo.. Yesterday we get home to a note asking us to pay her tomorrow if we are off on Monday... in her note she says "it's $110 (we pay her 2 weeks at a time) because I came by on Sunday for you..." So I respond.. "wait Sally... you did not take care of the dogs on 6/20 and 6/21 so that's -$20.." She just calls me and says.. "no.. you still have to pay me because YOU called me off.. not something I did." Now.. I would normally not have an issue with this.. but back in early May she had surgery and was off for 3 days so we had to drive all the way home at lunch and let them out ourselves for 3 days.. plus she was out sick for 2 days besides.. and we did NOT deduct any $$ from her. I did this because I want to have a good relationship with her in case we ever have an emergency and need her to go by on a late notice.. So much for that. Ugh. I'd be telling her where she could stick it personally. :finger Nice short term selective memory.

Paul Konerko Will Sign With The Sox???
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) Can we give them Timo and keep the beer? If we give them Timo then we have to give them Buehrle and Garland to make up for it.

Predict When the Sox clinch
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/301sd5.htm October 1, 2004: No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs.

Could Baj be on his way Up???
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) The Tigers still are screwed. They added a guy for $15 million a year for 5 years last offseason. They could have never added IRod, Ordonez, and Percival if they had that contract on their heads still. But there is no doubt the Ordonez signing was monumentally stupid.

Chicago's Sales Tax to Hit 9 Percent
QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) That house of cards is getting ready to fall. Don't look now, but is that Jesse Jackson Jr. in the wings? And has been doing much more public posturing. The Daley administration is one person turned states evidence away from falling.

Marte to the DL
QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Whats wrong with bringing up a double A pitcher... He couldnt do any worse than Walker.. When the Sox brought up Radinsky in the 90's from single A he was a great pitcher Bull isn't ready yet.

Paul Konerko Will Sign With The Sox???
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) the question is, whom would you rather have? Pauly or Lyle Overbay? Overbay will be available because Prince Fielder is coming up through the Brewers system. I think Overbay would be a better fit on this team, especially considering Konerko's inability to hit in the clutch and what I am sure are going to be ridiculous salary demands. He will ask for Sexson money; maybe more. I hate to bid adieu to Pauly, but we can't afford to have him here. We are good right now because we aren't paying any single player a ludicrous amount of cashola. PS look for Konerko to be in a Yankees uniform next year. Giambi/Martinez are not going to be the everday boys... The Brewers are just going to give us Overbay? Awesome!

Marte to the DL
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Let's see... 1.) Marte is now on the DL which means we only have one lefty in the bullpen. 2.) That lefty (Cotts) is better against righties than lefties. 3.) Hermanson may have to go on the bereavement list because of his father's illness. 4.) Vizcaino sucks. I'm pretty sure that Stanton would get an opportunity to pitch if he was in our bullpen. Yeah and Stanton will be looking at just the next 10 days of activity when he looks where to sign. :rolly Nevermind, it isn't worth it.

Could Baj be on his way Up???
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) But Mike.. they don't have any room to make changes. They are stuck with crap contracts that even if they got rid of.. they couldn't replace with farm help. Really if they were anyone else, this would have happened years ago... They wouldn't have been able to add ARod, and Sheffield and Mussina and Johnson and Matsui... you get my point. Most teams if they make a big mistake or two are screwed for years. Heck look at the Orioles and Tigers too. They strapped themselves in with some bad deals and took years to recover, basically until those contracts came off the books. In reality, if Juan Gonzalez had half a brain, the Tigers would still be screwed. That is why I don't want to see the Sox adding a bunch of 35 year olds with big contracts in exchange for prospects who could big filling postions for 300K a year, and allow us to get the players we really want signed up.

Could Baj be on his way Up???
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) And end up in the position the Yanks are in.. :rolly It's a good thing the "old timers" don't run the show. Not the Yankees, they have the money to cover up their mistakes... Think more like the Mets.

Marte to the DL
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Since when is Cotts a lefty specialist? He is worse against lefties than righties. Marte is the only guy close to a lefty specialist that we have out of the bullpen and he is now on the DL. Where did I say he was? I said he was going to be the 3rd lefty out of the pen, and even if he is the lefty specialist, he won't get much work as we already have guys who can get out lefties. Stanton will want to go somewhere where he is going to be a first or second option.
-
Marte to the DL
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Plus he was dl'ed retroactive to the 27th so that's 6 days gone right there including the AS break. And an off day on July 7th...
-
Marte to the DL
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) I would almost bet my left nut that Kenny is going to get Stanton now. What makes you think Stanton would want to come here? remember when Marte is healthy again he is the 3rd lefty out of the pen, and won't have much of a role as a lefty specialist for the Sox.

What Former Sox player should have his number
QUOTE(IndplsSoxFan @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) Would it be possible to retire Shoeless Joe's number? Well, did they even wear jersey numbers back then? They didn't have numbers then. The mid 20's Yankees were the first to have numbers on their backs, and even then the number on their backs were corresponded to their spot in the batting order.
