  1. Wait WinoDJ is a stripper?
  2. It would have been LaMarr Hoyt if he hadn't have thrown away his career for drugs. Right now it has to be Black Jack, simply because he went longer, but no doubt Buehrle will surpass him if he stays healthy and a White Sox.
  3. QUOTE(shakes @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) You are dead on YASNY. I truly don't expect Texas to be in the playoffs. It seems to happen every year. It would be interesting to see an all-time breakdown of the Rangers record month-by-month to see how much of an effect playing in that heat takes out of the players. I swear it seems like they fade down the stretch every year.
  4. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) Well done, SS2K5... I just heard the official lineups and you are right on. As you said, just swap Dye and Rowand and also Widger and Crede. Eh, I just figured you would put Widgers better OBP in front of Ozuna, instead of Crede. Oh well, I'll still pat myself on the back.
  5. That is awesome. The Iraqi information minister must have found new work...
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) They were 30 games over after 40 games. Nothing similar about it. And IIRC 3 of those losses were put on the Kitties by our beloved southsiders... But that is neither here nor there, this thread is all about basking in the glory that has been our first 70 games. B)
  7. Through 70 games 2005: 48-22 1915: 46-24 1901, 1907, 1919, 1954, 1990, and 2000: 45-25 Something to look forward to, best records after 80 games. 1901, 1907, and 1919: 52-28 1915, 2000: 51-29 1917, 1920, 1954, and 1957: 50-30 [steps back and enjoys the view]
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) Here is my line up prediction... Ozuna-SS Iguchi-2B Thomas-DH Konerko-1B Everett-LF Rowand-CF Dye-RF Crede-3B Widger-C Actually the more I think about it, flip Arow and Dye in the order.
  9. Here is my line up prediction... Ozuna-SS Iguchi-2B Thomas-DH Konerko-1B Everett-LF Rowand-CF Dye-RF Crede-3B Widger-C
  10. The Rich Daley machine has some work to do...
  11. Not a good one? That is f***ing hilarious. You can't make up stuff like that.
  12. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Did you meet Joe Vallee, the Doobies guitar tech? He was an instructor at the guitar school I went to. Joe Vallee rocks!! Maybe. The techs/roadies all went separately in the tour bus. I did work with lots of those guys during set up/tear down, but there weren't really any intros.
  13. I was glad to see the Doobies out there, anything to draw more attention and fans to the team, in a positive manner. Plus they still do a pretty good show. I am a volunteer for a local county fair group, and I always help set up the concerts. The Doob's I actually got to drive back and forth to the hotel, and they were all really nice guys.
  14. QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) I agree. Great idea. This is kind of a test for it. If it goes well we might look at a forum for it.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) And we can't forget "Yankee by Birth, Texan by Choice" We need a Texas flag smilie, bad.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) I sometimes wish it was. It is an extended cab with a full size bed. I need it for my business. Towing a 10 ton trailer takes some muscle. Down the road I may switch to a diesel. 10 miles to a gallon is tough to swallow sometimes. No gun rack. The Bush Farm and Ranch Team bumper sticker fell off when I got it. It does have a Boy Scout and Country music station stickers. And the obligatory "Proud to be Texan" sticker
  17. QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) We can't wait too long on this, now. They might be recalling their product as we speak. You gotta test him to make sure he isn't faking it... Hey Tex, they should close the US/Texas-Mexician border immediately! What do you think?
  18. I am surprised that no one has said it yet, but my all-star dream is Jon Garland starting vs Dontrelle Willis
  19. That was mighty big of Tom... *Note this will be the only time you see Tom Cruise and Big used in the same sentance.
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 05:29 AM) The sox definitely need a long man in the bullpen, someone who can eat innings, keep the team in the game and throw strikes when he gets in. Bmac makes sense. Esp as he's struggling a bit [in AAA and in the bigs]. Having him around the big league club [working with Cooper, et al, and having success a few innings at a time] could help get him back on track. It might only be a temporary thing. Then again, if it works out, having him up here throwing zeros for the club isn't a bad thing, even if it's from the bullpen With Hernandez on the DL, there is going to be a minimal need for a long guy. This is a mistake for Brandon, if we are going to go with 4 starters, we need to go with a guy who is a reliever, and let Brandon get his innings at AAA.

QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) "Speed never slumps" Speed hit .244 last year. I'd call that a year long slump. I like what Pods has brought this year, and I was skeptical for a long time. But anyone bashing Lee as abad fielder needs to pay attention, because the past 2 years he was a better fielder than Pods will ever be. Lee can throw you out. Pods cannot. I throw harder than Pods. Pods has had several plays this year where he didn't even move on a hit ball until it was way too late to make a play. Pods has brought a new dynamic to this team. A very important one. I'm glad we have it. But to suggest he's an improvement defensively, or to insinuate we lost in previous years because we had Lee is ludicrous. We lost in previous years because our bullpen sucked, our 5th starter sucked, and we played poor fundamental baseball. Nobody could bunt worth a s***. Carlos Lee is contending for NL MVP right now, and I for one am happy for him. I wish we still had him, he's a hell of a ballplayer. I wish we could have traded someone else. I wish we didn't have the dumb ass budget constraints that forced KW to jettison him in order to dump salary. Speed doesn't = batting average. Speed = 70 stolen bases.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Just because we might not have been caught doens't mean that we didn't deserve what we got when we did. Exactly. The whole, "it ain't wrong til you get caught" theory is half the problem with the country today.
  23. QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Then send him down. We're not doing him any favors by having him on the bench. He did well for 4 innings and then made a mental error in a bad situation. He'll learn. Get him out there now while we can afford for him to take his lumps. Its only two extra days, it doesn't make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things. If its me, I make Brandon sit on the bench in between Mark Buehrle and AJ Pierz, and talk about nothing but the mental aspect of pitching.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I don't see 2642 posts as something to be proud of. Most that number is just fluff, useless posts that are posted for no reason but to raise post counts. I'm not including Knightni in this or even Jabroni but there are a few people on the board lately that have been posting crap. ^Irony
