  1. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 16, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I agree with this 110% (keeping in mind that I am a huge PK fan when I say I agree that he needs to be benched for a little while at least). The problem is that we have no first basemen on this roster. Pauly is our 1B until Gload gets back.
  2. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 16, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) I was at the game with Brian and his family (a group of 12 total). Keep in mind Brian is not a Sox fan (I think I am starting to get him to cheer for the Sox as I can hear the game in the garage occasionally and he seems to be saying quite a few positive things about the team). During the game he looked around and said that he thought it was packed - that took a lot to come from him lol. I don't know what the attendance was yesterday as FMIL made us leave in the beginning of the 8th (she was driving his sister and us so we had to go when she said so lol). 34,030, including 8 of us, and my moms first game since 1977
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) LMAO at you and 01!! I'm sure Brian will be dialing as well. *Ahem*
  4. Has the success of a guy like Brandon McCarthy put anymore pressure on you to succeed quickly? Mike Michigan City, IN
  5. For me, my must watch shows, besides the Sox are very few. ER The Office Scrubs Law & Order and L&O SVU Fox Sunday nites...(Simpsons, Malcom, AD, Family Guy, King of the Hill etc)
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) After talking to him at SF I have to admit I am much more comfortable with him out there than I was thinking about him out there over the winter. Mike.. you have any thoughts on him pre/post fest..? After seeing him at the fest I felt 100% better about him being on this team. And so far his numbers have borne that out. He was embarassed after last year, and rightfully so. His game looks better all around when compared to 2004. As of right now, I am ready to try him out there. Besides it isn't like Dye has been doing something awesome out in the field either to say that he needs to stay out in RF everyday.
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 16, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Some jackass would start a thread about the continued downfall of Buehrle... oh wait!!
  8. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) I may one of those rare TV buffs who never really "got" Arrested Development. But I'm glad it's bad for all those who enjoy it. Personally, I'm glad "Scrubs" will be back. Now, if only NBC can stop moving it around the schedule. Scrubs and The Office back to back is the best night of comedies outside of Fox Sunday nites.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Well I never talked to him before, so maybe he just putn everybody on Soxtalk that has AIM on his buddy list. Lots of those viruses go through friend of friends lists, so that they disguise themselves.
  10. Looking at what Carl has hit, and what Dye has hit, you almost have to give it a chance.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) That's how Jim deals with me.. Yeah but that has nothing to do with the Sox
  12. There is always a period of hibernation during the winter, but you are right, there are a lot of faces, new and old, appearing around here. .
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 14, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) I would imagine the World Cup type thing would have a tougher steroid program than the MLB. If healthy could we see Frank repping the US? Hopefully they have an olympic style testing program, since it will be an internationally sanctioned event. 2 year bans could really put the pressure on MLB even moreso.
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) He was hard to defend last year when he had a 5.65 ERA over the ENTIRE season. Defend that! Mike Jackson.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Yea.. now that I am thinking about it.. I remember getting there right from work downtown in '96 and '97 and watching them. Maybe it would be something they would reconsider doing if there was fan request for it. Exactly... it was one of those attempts to draw back people after the strike.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Willie Harris True MVPs like Willie don't need BP.
  17. QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) I always want to fire a lot of people, bench some other people, and then send a lot more down to AAA. NO green required...

I actually have a list of things I want to see for once. I can't wait for Star Wars though.
  19. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) I dont know, I just have a feeling Big Frank is on a mission this year......lets hope my premonition is right Frank is on a mission every year. The question is, can his body hold up?
  20. Great thread idea guys. Enjoy this. I know the temptation is there to tear down everything for a loss or a bad outing, but realize that what you are watching so far is history. If you spend all of your time looking for something to go wrong, you will miss it. The whole time I have been a Sox fan I have seen two periods of baseball like this, 2000 and 1983. I thank god that I took each time for what it was worth, instead of stressing about who wasn't hitting, or a few losses. Enjoy this while you can.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 16, 2005 -> 06:52 AM) I think Aaron is starting to feel comfortable in the 3 hole. If only Konerko and Dye could wake up........ As many of us said, Aaron has the tools to be a solid #3 hitter. I would like to see them slide Frank to #4 when he gets back even.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) We need to get ahold of the Sun-Times circulation numbers for the whole time that Kotex-Boy has worked in this city. It would be interesting to see how much they have plunged. Actually this is way too interesting to pass up. I was googling this, trying to find the Sun-Times circulation numbers when I came accross this info about the Sun Times artificially inflating their sales numbers by 23%! http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5261421/ They were counting newspapers they had printed and delivered, but didn't sell, as sales. They were reporting 72,000 more newspapers sold per week, than they actually had sold in reality, and then they were reporting to their advertisers these artificially high rates to crank up the amount of money they would spend for ads. So to connect the dots here. Kotex-Boy uses our attendance as a way to indict us and our fans, but yet he works for a newspaper that illegally lies about its sales numbers, and defrauds the advertisers who work with the Sun Times, yet we are supposed to care what he said about our attendance? :fyou hypocrate

  24. Reply to NukeClevelands Garcia has no balls thread... QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) It's times like these I'm glad that Nuke doesn't have access to guns.........
  25. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) The question is, what kind of bodysnatcher is so patient (and can we get some more, please). B/c so far, Pods k & bb numbers are exactly the opposite of what he's done in the past (1/2 k/bb vs 2/1 in the past, 1 k per 10 ab vs 1 bb per 10 ab in the past) -- including his rookie season. It'd be great if he made solid contact more often, but all in all, I've been very happily surprised so far. I think the big difference is the team philosophy of the Sox is 180 degrees of what the Brewers was. All the Sox want from Pods is to be on base, and steal bases. He doesn't have to worry about hitting for power, driving in runs, or just trying to do too much in general. Even if he can't get on, if he works the count full in the first AB, he sets the tone, and lets Iguchi and the rest of them, see pitches, and work the pitch count upward. Pods really has an easy role this year.
