  1. I have to imagine there is a not much above zero chance of his being on the opening day roster.
  2. My absolute favorite is Freakonomics. I am almost finally caught up on all 500. Past that, it fully depends on what you are into. I am listening to the FutureSox broadcast on the top prospects and Latin American signings.
  3. The thing that is going to annoy me is you know Lester is going to be a slam dunk HOF guy because he pitched in Boston and for the Cubs, meanwhile the guy with remarkably similar numbers in Mark Buehrle struggles to get to 5%.
  4. Let me C/P this again The incentives are all at the top, and at the bottom, but if you can't get to the top, that's when the problems come in.
  5. It's not the penalty for a winning team, is the penalty for a mediocre team that is the problem. The incentives are all at the top, and at the bottom, but if you can't get to the top, that's when the problems come in.
  6. Literally everyone knows this. As long as there is a lockout, no one cares because there is no reason to care. Heck I already spent the money I was going to spring training and getting tickets for next year with. It's hard to care when there is no reason to do so. Thanks Manfred.
  7. It always changes to whatever we don't have. When Soxtalk started, it was people would give up everything for a title. Then we got it, and it turned into we need multiple playoff appearances. Now we did that, and it is on to the next thing.
  8. Honestly, it feels like the dirtiest answer possible, so I fully expect it to happen. That being said, I won't pretend to know him or the situation, which I asked to see if there was any actual material reason to fear this could really happen.
  9. So is this a situation where Pullian just ends up getting hired? Does he have any desire to still do this job, or is he really going to "help".
  10. And if the prices are being set at the top, the rest of the universities set their prices based on their peers and schools in the tiers above them. So if the upper level is fixed, effectively all college pricing is fixed. But let's hear again how the student loan program is A-Ok.
  11. No one really cares about a "win". They care about the game, keeping it healthy, and keeping it going at its normal times. Sure it would be nice to see better equity, but the primary wish from fans is the game itself.
  12. https://www.audacy.com/wbbm780/news/local/lawsuit-top-chicago-universities-part-of-admissions-scheme?fbclid=IwAR1MQGvc9_1RrOZQtDvqlff0r9SrfcWJOCV4g5TMqtsIk9bFeGeOHSWCDM4
  13. In an era of the crashing of workforce participation like none other in modern America, which has literally come to be known as The Great Resignation, this is an interesting take.
  14. Unrelated to the Sox, but since the Sox were so close to Juan Soto, it is interesting to note that the Nats are going to sign his little 16 yo brother.
  15. I can't put Eddie Jackson on the GM. The dude was a superstar when he extended, and then kind of quit trying.
  16. Part of drafting is not wasting draft capital, and he wasted a ton in all of his trade ups. This is a team that needs depth all over the roster, and he was steady giving away potential depth.
  17. Well, hopefully this means the Sox didn't have 750k left over this year.
