I went through the city after listening to the traffic reports. There was one "big" backup through the construction on the Ford and a bunch of little ones on the tri-state. It took about 1:15. I came home 294 after seeing a 10 mile backup into the city on the Kennedy. Took about 1 hour to get home.

No, I don't have IPASS. Think I'm crazy and want the government tracking my every move? I know distance wise it's shorter through the city. Myself, I always fly out around 6am and back around 10pm. I can make it in about 1:15 then.
  3. I only respond if the e-mail calls for some bs action. Like the time our office manager sent one to the entire company that said Al Qaida stole a shipment of UPS uniforms, etc. She had to stick her tail between her legs on that one.

First poll in a while. I may have screwed this up. I have to take my Grandmother to O'Hare for a 10:30am flight tomorrow. Coming from Indiana and leaving around 8:15 (Have to get my 2nd grader off to school first) I haven't been through the city or on 294 in a while. How's the construction, etc. at that time?
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) That is enforcement, which is a different discussion. Congress cannot ENFORCE laws directly, they rely on agencies to do that for them. Once law is written, if people are breaking it or not following it, then enforcement action should be taken. This argument could literally be applied to any law on the books. Most of them do not go into detail on exactly how to enforce it - they might state specific penalties, but that is usually it. This whole argument is ridiculous, not because the fear is invalid (its very valid), but because its ire aimed at the wrong place. I understand. I'm just pointing out the concern, and it's a legitimate concern. It's illegal to hop the fence at the border, but they're still getting through - enforcement is the answer. So, we have to create a new agency - woohoo! :/rolleyes
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) The latest bill I have seen has a specific clause exempting illegals from coverage. Why do people keep ignoring this? Now, if that disappears and the bill does indeed cover illegals, then I'm with you on the concern. But nothing, other than fear-mongerers yelling unfounded B.S., indicates that would be the case. I'm alive! I think the concern is that there are not enough checks in the bill to stop illegals from accessing healthcare. They won't have it officially, but will easily gain access.
  7. How about the welfare state? Other than that I'd say Maine. It's way the F**k up there and it's not even spelled correctly.

My 7 year old loves Shark Week already. Tuesday morning she woke me up asking, "What channel is the shark channel?" And then last night she was pissed, saying, "I want to see the ones where they bite people." She saw Jaws when she was about 4 (Only the end part, after the normal people get attacked) and now every time a movie with ocean scenes come on she says, "Ooo, is this Jaws?"
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Blazing Saddles. I cannot turn it off if it comes on. When I was a teen I had that on VHS and I swear the tape was transparent by the time my buddies and I got through with it. My cousin got me it on DVD for Christmas a few years back.
  10. They still haven't come close to bettering "This Land is Your Land," but this is close.
  11. I give mine about $5-$7 per hour to watch 4 kids. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We also give them a $50 gift card at Christmas.

Just ask for a Mutual Release. If it's a potentially small commission and she's doing very little like you say, it shouldn't be a problem. I'll guarantee she doesn't genuinely believe she's doing all she can to market your house. And like Tex said, open houses do very little to sell your house. Agents get more buyers than anything. We try not to do them, because they're mainly a waste of time. We'll do them upon seller request, though. In my short time in the business I've had 2 open houses and haven't had a single person come through. But, a Broker Open House would do some good to show other agents the property.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 09:21 AM) I'm surprised nobody has agreed with my scenario. It's called "The Honor Code", Milkman. Know it. Live it. Love it.

  15. Did they announce an AL Pitcher of the month for June?
  16. I've sat first row behind the Sox dugout on opening day, but the best seats were about 8 rows back behind the visiting dugout in 2000. The Sox were beating up on Seattle to the sum of about 19-4. Graffanino hit a grand slam that day even. Well, Piniella kept going out to get pitchers and after going to talk to one in about the sixth he's heading back to the dugout. Of course, we were all giving it to him pretty good. He looks up at us, throws his hands up in the air and shrugs his shoulders, like, "What can I do?" Awesome!
  17. Rick Springfield? Hair rock? OK.
  18. I like this one better anyway.

    Pert Plus for me.
  20. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) On Mully and Hanley this morning, Don Cooper was saying that it's all mental and that going to a place, like the Nationals, might be good for him. Also, he said that MMac has a bad "case of the yips." He's bad at golf too?
  21. QUOTE (Soxy @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 07:27 AM) Nope, I've worked enough s***ty jobs to not do it. Amen!
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) Before anyone responds with a definite answer, I think you should sit back and think of reasons why a professional sports team would allow the opposing team to pick their hotel when they have a staff of several people whose job it is just to select hotels and rooms in hotels. Well maybe not a specific hotel, but maybe a list of "choice" places.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) I can't imagine the city experience is very good at Comerica... I know it wasn't for us! We stayed in Windsor and I like to gamble.
  24. We enjoyed Miller and Comerica. I may have an in for a Miller Beer suite for the Friday game this year. (Keeping fingers crossed)
  25. Do the visiting teams pick their own hotels or do the home teams "provide" one? By "provide" I mean the visiting team still pays, but the home team selects. If the Rays pick the hotel, I think this is a brilliant strategy - get Ghost Hunters to come out and declare the place haunted, etc.
