I was in Washington State travelling to a conference the morning I heard we got rid of Baldwin and I remember it really vividly. Ruined my whole day. Good to see he's getting a shot and putting in a good performance. Hopefully he and keep it up. JB

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/news/11915527.htm And you thought Durbin had harsh words. In all seriousness though does anyone on here know anything about the Devil's Lake project. Because Canadians are very very concerned. From what I know, The Devil's Lake Project is every bit as ill-conceived as the Canadian opposition to it makes it out to be. Basicallly, North dakota is going to cut the water flow into Devil's Lake, which will send it's pollution and exotic species up to Lake Winnipeg through, I think it's the Red River. ND is pushing for a July 1 project start for fear that the science, the opposition by Minnesota and other Great Lakes states and provinces, and that fact that it violates an international treaty will catch up with them. North Dakota's Senators have some serious pull though, so they have the permits in hand and they say tthat's all they need.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) I also agree that once Gabriel left the band took a nose dive, but the complete death was the departure of Hackett. IMO Trick Of The Tale and Wind and Wuthering are still respectable releases. Trespass too, for that matter. And the transitional albums were still fairly strong too, despite my earlier remarks. And Then There Were Three still had a lot of the genesis sound (I guess that was Hacket's doing?), and even though Duke heralded the begininning of the pop monster incarnation of the band it certainly had a couple of high points.

You couldn't get Phil to just get back behind the drum kit and leave the singing up to Peter. I don't even know what Steve Hacket is doing these days. But as someone who pretty much refuses to consider any album after Lamb Lies Down as even being a Genesis album (and Selling England By the Pound is in my top 5 favorite rock albums of all time), I'd love to see them reunite and actually do something in the studio and not just a one-off live thing.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Heather Lockler. It just ain't right that she should be getting better looking as she gets older. But I stand by her being the tops. No make-up, and I am pretty sure she is still as smoking. In some closet somewhere is a portrait of her growing older by the day...

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) The origional Pink Floyd hasn't played together since around 1968, of course. Shhh... Don't tell Syd. He still thinks he's in the band. Agreed that Pompeii shows the best-known lineup of the band at their best.

Just an errant attempt at a joke.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Governor Jeb Bush is now asking Michael Schiavo to be investigated because he wants to know why it took him so long to call 911 when she collapsed. Why won't people let this go? Apparently this is the "unspecified legal action" the Schindlers' lawyer spoke of. :headshake Is there any legal teeth in investigating these events that happened 15 years ago? If so, thenthis can potentially open up a Pandora's Box of litigation – including all the people who promptly call 911 and then experience inordinate respose times that lead to death or medical complications that rapid treatment could have prevented. So much for Republicans trying to reduce the number of frivolous madical suits.

Even if you could get it to spit out the exact directions you want to take, you realize there will not be a "Teleport Me There" button, right? Boy, the over-reliance some people have on their computers... By the way, I just ordered a pizza online. Now can anybody help me figure out how to download it?!

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Don't be so sure that this is being ignored Jim. Terrible approval rates + lying to start a war that probably could have been fought truthfully= impeachment Not likely, in the Bizzaro America we find ourselves existing in today.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) I like to give mine away, because last year, I would just let them go to waste when I didnt make it to a game. More often or not, I would just want someone else to have a good game, maybe take a kid, or a friend that has never been there.....wishful thinking I guess. May it come back to you five-fold.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) I forgot to mention that they are free, but now, they gone! You're a good man!

Here is some of Durbin's commentary after being rebuked on the Senate Floor by Senators Warner abd McConnell. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5061601500.html One of the more important things he said yesterday was not in the Post article, however, but it can be heard in the audio clip found at NPR on this page: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4707429 He basically pointed out that none of the interrogation techniques he had described previously were anything NOT condoned and approved by the Administration. These are not unsanctioned abuse allegations. It's a glimpse at business as usual with the Presidential Seal on it. Taken with the emerging picture we have of a facility 80-90% filled with people having nothing to do with the conflict and you can't help but agree with Daniel Schorr and other commentators who note that Guantanamo is likely to sit right alongside Japanese-American internment camps in World War II as a shameful place in American history.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) I don't think so. Carl is making a biblical opinion, whereas Rocker said Asians were the worst drivers, etc. A little different. He also referred to Randall Simon as a "fat monkey" if I recall correctly, and I don't think that can be traced to the good book either.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Then all the comments should be stricken from everybody, including the ones about the length of time they have known each other. I proposed to my wife after 2 1/2 months of knowing each other. 11 years and later, and with 2 kids, our relationship has never been stronger in all aspects. I understand these are Hollywood folks, but sometimes you just know when something is different. Proposed after 2.5 months... wow, she must have had the goods on you for something juicy. I'm assuming the real issue is the insensitivity – very likely inadvertent (sp?) - of the boss emailing the secretary about something so mundane when she was away attending to the illness, death, and funeral of her mother. He probably should have realized she was out, or at least that's the reaction the secretary seems to have had about it.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) The "bluest" state in the nation. Yes, they are very forward thinking in that regard.
-
And the nation yawns and hits the snooze button. Credible evidence that the Administration may have lied to Congress and to the nation to get authorization and support for the war, and barely a ripple. Now, if it had been an extramarital Oval Office bj on the other hand, then everybody would be up in arms. It makes perfect sense.
