Joc Pederson: How long will he be a future White Sox?
Jack Parkman replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they don't get Joc then RF options are very bleak. -
Hogan nailed it.

I don't mind having an argument with conservatives about actual policy, but I do hate having an argument with conservatives on basic human decency. I wish we could reach the point where it's no longer right vs wrong and we could get to actual policy choices.... The problem is that all over the country we're litigating human rights instead of actual policy. Congress included.

Yeah. Ones that are free that don't cost top prospects. I want them to sign Bauer if they can get him for around 25-26M AAV. 30M is insanity for a pitcher like him. I see Bauer as a similar pitcher to Wheeler last year, with inconsistencies but sky high upside and great stuff that will get him paid around that amount. I want them to sign a guy in the Odorizzi/Quintana/Arihara tier that is a solid #3/4 and a guy like Richards/Kluber/Archer that has injury issues but high upside if they have a good year. There are not a lot of pitchers on the FA market that I'd be upset with them signing because most of them can be had on a 1-2 year deal. They all have their positives and they all have their flaws. I'd rather bet on some of the Sox young arms taking a step forward. They almost can't go wrong in my book when it comes to FA pitching unless they sign Bauer to a 30M deal, but I'd still be stoked that they got him. They better be sure he's the guy from 2018 and 2020 then.

Wasn't Hudson a back end T100 guy when they traded him for Edwin Jackson?
-
Most of JBJ's career he's been a black hole offensively. Isn't that what we're trying to solve? His typical season outside of the 3 outliers or so are a bit better than Mazara this year.

A lot. It wasn't a huge deal until the guys they traded came back to bite them in the ass.......the Sox farm wasn't that great. Then they had a string of trades that bit them in the ass starting with the Swisher deal. They traded a good portion of their top 10 for Jake Peavy. That was a huge deal in terms of money back then. Peavy was making $22M in 2009 and Jerry went for it. One thing that gives me hope......they had a lot of big contracts then. That was the last major deal that didn't bite them some way. MLB contributors that have been traded for bullshit include: Dan Hudson(Edwin Jackson) Frankie Montas(Frazier) Marcus Semien and Chris Bassitt(Samardzija) The trade that shall not be named was the last one. It seems the Sox are horrid at self-scouting and some of these guys were top 10 on the Sox prospect list when they traded them.

It's so annoying........

I honestly don't know what to think of Jerry. On one hand, I think he's a bad owner and is way too frugal, but on the other hand some of the stuff he does has logic behind it.
-
Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me. He should have negotiated a NTC if that was the case.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That's even funnier than what Ron wrote.
-
Ron for the win. LMMFAO. BTW I hope Yermin gets DFA so you'd STFU about him. You're never going to hear the end of Abreu's AL MVP.
-
idk how that would work....but ok. It was 15+ years ago and I don't remember the whole story. LOL on Walt Disney. I wish Jerry didn't have the rest of the ownership group to report to because I think how divided the Sox ownership group is in prevents him from going full Illitch. I actually think he might if it was solely up to him. This is the guy that once said he'd trade all 6 Bulls rings for another Sox one.
-
Yeah, just go full Jerry Jones at that point.
-
As he should be. I never know with these guys.
-
Yeah, I think he meant Babe Ruth's corpse and Ted Williams' cryogenically frozen body. LOL.
-
We have to wait and hope they don't trade their 2nd wave. I'm mortified because I know the Sox Modus Operandi when they're contending: They'll trade anyone for this year. If they trade Crochet I'll scream. They absolutely stole him at 11. If they trade Vaughn or Kopech they better be getting someone who has some individual hardware already and is in their prime. (MVP or Cy Young)

Like I said I think that Lynn is in the Tanaka/Sugano tier. I'd rather sign someone like Odorizzi or Arihara than trade anything more than the OP suggestion for Lynn. If they even ask for Cease or Madrigal(who I don't like all that much but haven't given up on yet) That's an immediate hangup for me if I'm Hahn.
-
I believe in spending on premium FA, but there is a point when it's just stupid.
-
He's been very good the last 2 seasons but I do not expect it to continue. If Daniels/Young don't get reasonable it's not going to happen anyway. Even trading Cease or Dunning for him would be a horrible mistake.
-
Didn't we just have a discussion about paying for future performance instead of past performance? Shouldn't that apply to trades as well?
-
Pagano has been handed the keys to a Ferrari and is driving it like a Smart Car.
-
Did you notice how soft the coverage was? That's on Pagano. It was ye olde prevent defense prevents you from winning.
-
Yep, which is why Tanaka is a pipedream. Maybe they could get Sugano or Arihara.
-
I think they have the ability to be borderline elite if they were more aggressive. On paper, when Goldman is inserted there are no holes on the D at all. This is as complete of a unit as you can get in the NFL. It should be top 5 at least. They're middle of the pack. That's on coaching. They have too much talent at too many places to be average. The only explanation for them being average is if Mack has declined and is merely good, but not an elite talent anymore and Quinn has completely lost it. Both are possible, and I've accounted for that possibility. But I'm not sure because I think Pagano is misusing both players.
