GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Gordon Beckham never put up 3 consecutive seasons that averaged 4.0 fWAR/162 Moncada was an above average player from 2019-2021. What happened to him this year, nobody knows. He's either injured or sucks.

It's really too bad he had all of the injuries.

Next four months…keys to survival that won’t cost as much
There is no reason to waste minor league talent to supplement this team. If they're going to win, they're going to have to do it with what is currently in the org. -57 run differential, bottom 10 in baseball. If Moncada and Grandal don't get their shit together, the Sox are going nowhere. I went into this season wanting to be more optimistic, but that ended pretty quickly. They have to earn it with their play on the field.

There's no reason to be buying anything this summer.

Moncada + Grandal
So this is the unanswered question: Is Moncada injured? If he is, then he needs to go on the IL, and so does Yaz.

Moncada + Grandal
Everybody is like "Trade Moncada!" without telling us who is taking that contract.

6/4/22 Sox @ Rays, 3:10 pm
Please.....tell me who is taking Moncada's contract? He's not getting traded unless he gets his shit together in a big way. Also, remember what I said about outliers in ST? Yeah.

TLR 2022 Thread
I don't see any difference between losing in the ALDS and missing the playoffs. In fact, losing in the ALDS is worse than missing the playoffs all together.

The Sox are the Phillies with a couple playoff appearances.

Retooling / quasi-rebuild
There are only two choices: Stay the course or full rebuild. The only players with trade value are those that you want to build around in a retool. The guys that you'd want to trade, the best that you'd get is some salary relief, and that's only if the team paid half or more of the contracts. I don't have any answers, but if I were making the decisions I'd fire everyone and blow it up, hope that some of the players having bad years rebound next year and trade them too, if there is value to be had.

White Sox @ Blue Jays 2:07 PM, Cueto (0-1, 2.41) vs. Manoah (5-1, 1.77)
Silver lining: Moncada showed signs of life his last 2 PA.

- White Sox @ Blue Jays 2:07 PM, Cueto (0-1, 2.41) vs. Manoah (5-1, 1.77)
Tell me, what team is going to take Moncada's contract?- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
The ball doesn't come off his bat the same since 2020. Even when Moncada was struggling in 2017-18 the ball just exploded off his bat.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
I don't believe this. I don't think he's not trying/doesn't care, I think he's just lost it.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
If that's the case then the Sox are stuck with him because nobody is taking $47M(2 yrs 43M with a 5M buyout of the option) over 2 years without a contract at least as bad coming back.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Is it possible Moncada has just lost it? Like whatever he had been doing to have success the last 3 years has been figured out by the opposition?- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Do you bring him back? I honestly don't know what to do with him if he's still performing. - White Sox @ Blue Jays 2:07 PM, Cueto (0-1, 2.41) vs. Manoah (5-1, 1.77)
