Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) Just watched that recently. Still as good as the 1st time I saw it. On AMC, right? I have been watching as well. I can't believe it is 20 years old already. I still remember seeing it on the big screen.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) You always have to be gentle when playing with a heyman. Posts like this are the reason I continue to visit this circular thread. Thanks.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) As far as I know, there's still one in Downers off Butterfield and Finley. If it's closed, I'm not going to be too happy. It's still there.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) I take it Aj and Damon are really tight? Some in this thread have alluded to them being decent friends. I do not hang out with either of them so I couldn't tell you.

Supposedly AJ is going to be on Chicago Tribune Live (starts in about now). Might have some insight to offer.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) Not trying to impress anyone, just feel like the Aparicio love i wanted to show may be dimmed a little bit. This is what I'll be sporting BTW http://jerseychannelone.com/jersey/mlb-chi...tml?language=en I can't wait to see a guy sporting that jersey so I can ask him why he has a throwback jersey with Vizquel's number on it.

I can't believe I missed that!
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 05:56 AM) Thanks for ruining it for me, Tex. Funny thing is, the reason I never watched it has nothing to do with knowing how it ends. The film was so hyped and EVERYONE just loved it that I suspected it was going to be a big letdown and really not that good a film beyond the special effects. I decided the chances of it being good were too low to risk wasting 3 hours of my life on it.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 03:52 AM) The only cool thing you missed was a little bit of bush and some boobs. Really? Or, are you just trying to bait me into watching it so I can be as miserable as every other guy that had to sit through it?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Sure, but THE founding principle of the Declaration and at least inherent in the Constitution and explicit in a lot of ways is private property rights and protection of the individual. The will of the people, my ass, that we're being protected as individuals today. And be sure to understand where I am and am not pointing the finger at here. Please elaborate. I know the founding fathers were a bunch of masons that didn't want to pay their taxes and bow to a king, but there were plenty of men who drew up the constitution with a more noble plan than protecting their stuff.- The Procedural Filibuster
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Yea, because it's living and breathing (uh uhhhh uhhhhhh uhhhhhhhhh) and then the libs blow up. Read the Federalist papers and understand the debates and intents of what was done and why. This government today is like the King of England on steroids with what they are wanting to do. The federalist papers were a means to persuade ratification of the constitution. Further, after ratification, there were two camps on how to implement this government, one more strict in the interpretation and one more flexible. Over time, flexibility won by the will of the people. What's funny is the constitution does not make any reference to what is or should be American policy. It does not endorse capitalism or outlaw communism. It just provides a very simple and basic framework for the government to implement the will of the people via elected representatives with a system of checks and balances to keep any of the three branches from abusing power. So, theoretically, we could elect members of the communist party to a congressional majority and the presidency. They could then nationalize all industry and crush powerful elements of the system currently in place and it would be constitutional unless the supreme court weighed in and deemed otherwise. It would be the will of the people. So when you say that a 59-41 majority in the senate and the largest victory for the presidency since Bush Sr in '88 is anything less than the people speaking, you really discredit any other argument you make in this forum. You can spin it however you want, but in 2008, the American public clearly said enough, and the pendulum swung the other direction. The Dems bungled what should be a powerful majority in 2009 in a most frustrating manner, but not one of the policies they presented were extreme or clearly against the will of the people. There is nothing noble or patriotic about the obstinacy of the GOP and their closet racist Tea Party supporters. The people spoke in 2008 and the GOP needs to accept that, just as the Dems accepted it in 2004, when Jr. was finally elected by the majority of the voters. The GOP may accomplish their goal of stonewalling the Dems and effectively shutting down the government until they return to power. However, it will be them that will be going against the wishes of the people, not the proposed policies of the Democratic Party.- Alexei Ramirez

Saw lots of good ideas here so I won't offer up any more. It is nice to see so many people weigh in with some thoughtful advice, though. Good luck and, to all the posters/helpers in this thread, . To think it all started with a common love of baseball.- The Place Name Game

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) Signing him would easily pay for itself in-terms of television interest, t-shirt and ticket sales... I'll also throw $20 into your pay pal account if you contribute those pants and the free bowl of soup that came with them... Can I at least keep the hat?- Email Johnny Damon
So, maybe we should all email KW and promise to each spend an extra amount of money on the White Sox this year in order to guarantee the funds necessary to pay Damon? Or we can just have him bill us via paypal and pay up front.- The Place Name Game
