  1. As tiresome as this topic is, you should be tracking the number of news stories that have a generally negative or positive tone. Every story I read about the Cubs is filled with 'hope' while the Sox stories are generally doom and gloom.
  2. Non-US citizens do not enjoy rights protected under the Constitution.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) So you really think the Sox will win the wild card eh? The Tigers IMO are not deep enough to sustain for a full season. I think what he is saying is that "if it started today". After watching the Rangers kick our asses the last three days, I would not mind missing them in the first round. Boston/Detroit I'd take but Texas looked really good.
  4. If we can draw 39,817 (would be largest crowd, YTD, by about 2-300.) on Tuesday, the Sox will eclipse 1,000,000 fans 11 games earlier than last year. It will happen by Wednesday for sure. We are 10 games ahead of last years pace. Sox fans have rewarded Jerry and Kenny for thier efforts in the off season by comming to the ball park. This is a valuable lesson for them to remember for the future of this franchise. This is a very positive, positive.
  5. Brian Anderson's defense is invaluable to this team. He has great range and can go back for a ball better than 90% of the CFs in the game. If he didn't have that, he would be back in the minors. He has a role on this team and the bat will come.
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) I don't think anyone would deny that but IMO the best option is to play BA and let the rest of the line up pick up his lack of production rather than let Mac play and let his defense kill you late in the game. BA should come around but even if he doesn't I would rather have him in there than Mac. The offesive punch he gives you over BA is not enough to over come the defensive shortcommings.
  7. Sox should eclipse 1mil asses in the seats on Wednesday 6/7, 10 games earlier than last year.
  8. QUOTE(henry wiggins @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) Because Charlie Haeger gets a nervous twitch when anyone mentions Chicago to him? I missed the game he pitched up here. How is this kids knuckler? In a relief situation, he could be very effective to a few hitters. Going from our starters to a guy who throws a good knuckle ball is very tough.
  9. I was/am pulling for Nelson. I hope he can come back and be effective. He is our Rocket.
  10. I did notice that Bobby looked like he was about to drop a loaf in his knickers. If he is like that all the time, I have never noticed it. But his hook was dropping off the table and his heater was leaving a vapor trial as always. He struck out Botts at least once, if not twice from what I could see. I didn't notice the the umps zone as being particularly small until the bottom of the 9th. I was sitting infront of some Texas fans on Friday. Two interesting comments they guy had. 1.) He was as shocked as most of the rest of baseball that the Rangers were leading the West by 5 games. 2.) He asked if the ball park was always this crowded. I told him it was a bit light actually (32k). The enitre last home stand was sold out. They have had 13 straight games over 30k and only one game under 25k all year. He was stunned. He said the Rangers were not drawing that well even with the 5 game lead. I made sure that I was a good ambassador for the Sox. I complimented him on his team and gave him some tips on what to do while in town and where to eat at the park. I even told him when to get to the box office for the release of the VIP seats on Saturday. At the end, I wished him good luck with the rest of the season and that I hoped he enjoyed his stay in Chicago. I am pretty sure it was not the welcome he was expecting.
  11. Kudos to Dye, Iguchi, Bobby, Cliff and Neal wrapping things up. Thornton too. My game ball goes to Ozzie for putting BA in CF in the 9th but I don't get why he put Mac in LF.
  12. "Now starting in left field, number 72, Carlton Fisk." Never got over it. Hawk is an ass but I can live with him in the booth. It could be a lot, lot worse.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Ozzie didn't have one of his better games last night. Seemingly every move he made back-fired. Agreed but this one has been foreshadowed four or five times in the last several weeks. I am not a baseball genius by any means and I saw it comming. Ozzie should have too, IMO.
  14. I put this loss on Ozzie. He hit for BA in the 8th with 2 outs, runner on. Then ANOTHER ball sails over Mackowiac's head that BA would have gotten to, IMO. I was sitting in the front row of 162 so I had a pretty good angle on it. I think BA makes that play (Pretty easily actually) and we go into the bottom of 9 tied with the top of the order comming up. Mack just does not go back for a ball very well, period. Macs play in center has cost us runs in the past but last night is cost us the game. Garland pitched a good game and I hope he comes out of it with a little more confidence because he has nothing to be ashamed of for this outting.
  15. I haven't been able to find any humor in his performances of late.
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Anderson's defense saves the same amount of runs, if not more, as his offense costs the team. His defense is too valuable and he should be in the lineup, despite his putrid offensive performance. Agreed. Anderson should come around but I think we can still win the division even if he doesn't. Uribe and middle releif at this point.
  17. Wish it was the Saturday game. I have tix for that one and much prefer night games.
  18. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) I'll be in my AJ jersey Why does this seem perfect? Rabble rouser.
  19. The old ball park was broken into all the time, no doubt. But it is impossible to shoot even a high powered rifle from the RTHs into Comiskey park. The distance and wind would take all the velocity off any projectile so much so that it wouldn't even break the skin much less land with enough force to puncture a hole in a 3/8th inch thick plastic seat.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) THE RTH's (across the DR) and what's left of the section 8 homes (a block away) are not (were not) 1.25 miles away. I am not going to argue with you. It happened. Several times. The place was also broken into dozens of times, and several times there was evidence of violence (beatings, stabbings, etc) taking place IN the park over night. Broken into, sure. Not unlike any other construction site in the city. But there was round the clock security and I have have never heard of any beatings or stabbings. Please show me one credible source about the bullet holes.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) Whatever you say. It is impossible from a ballistics perspective to hit and make a hole in 3/8" plastic from 1.25 miles away without some serious weapons. It never happened. Urban legend propigated by racists.

That is factual incorrect. There were NEVER bullet holes in the seats in the upper deck.
  23. I don't care who ya are, that is funny right there...
  24. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Giving up McCarthy would be stupid and Fields looks to be coming along very nicely. With that said he just signed a huge ass contract a while ago (in years) so I don't see why they would trade him. Fields may turn out to be a great player but Crawford already is one. And we could win the Workd Series THIS year with him. McCarthy on the other hand is an already proven (somewhat) comodity.
  25. Give them Garland and Anderson. CC can hit #2 (and steal bases) and move Gooch to 6. Pods (L) CC (L) Thome (L) Konerko ® Dye ® Gooch (the second leadoff man) ® Crede ® AJP (L) Uribe/Cintron/Mac (R/S/L) We would hit them with so many lefts they would be praying for a right. Starters MB JC FG JV BM They would never do it but, it would be nice.
