  1. listening to the cubs broadcast they think Moncada is putting that bunt down on his own, I don't buy that for a second.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 02:16 AM) If the Sox can get Bader, plus one wildcard type prospect, I'm all for trading Avi. I like Bader a ton That to me is light. I'm not moving Avi unless its a top 50 prospect and an interesting arm or two back end top 100. Hes got two and a 1/3 seasons of control remaining, if he performs comparable to this year next he'll return a similar package next deadline and will have the track record to back it up.
  3. Just tank baby this season is lost and most won't remember beating the cubs this series but come next June all will be wishing we had the largest bonus pool and the option of choosing Singer/Turang/Beer first.
  4. Gavin Sheets 2-4 2 2B 1K Justin Yurchak 1-3 2BB 1K Jake Burger MIA
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 10:42 PM) The Houston Astros have an opening day payroll this year of $125 million and it took them 6 years to pull together the collection of talent we pulled together in 8 months. I highly doubt we'll be able to extend Moncada/Robert/Rodon below market but the rest of the core I think Hahn will go to great lengths to lock up and control future salaries. '21-'23 is when this projected core is going to get very expensive through Arbitration.
  6. man i do love me some Moncada AB's future #2 hitter in a world where George Springer bats lead off
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 08:51 PM) Easily could have had a cycle yeah if he wasn't hot dogging on the first hit it would be a double and his double could've been a triple if he hustled.
  8. Holmberg single handily making sure the tank is on and the royals don't sell
  9. can't wait to see the statcast on that catch
  10. a bunt attempt really?? f*** outa here rick
  11. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 06:30 PM) The Astros so thoroughly blew those picks and they were way more obvious decisions than Fulmer/Happ I agree, I felt like the Astros were trying to get way too cute. Rodon likely had prospect fatigue as well because of all the #roadtorodon talk etc.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) https://www.milb.com/milb/news/seattle-mari...968/t-185364810 Positional need for a catcher? Can't remember what was the basic argument last year. If we also had Benintendi/Happ, Lewis and Tatis Jr., oh well....that would have been the best farm system in the history of the game. It's a nice dream. And Happ's defense is holding down his (future) projections, not unlike Schwarber. The FO was likely debating if they could sign Rutherford with his love of the yankees and commit that he signed when he was 14 and passed, they viewed collins as the best college bat. Benintendi was their target but was off the board when they picked, nothing you can do about that and Fulmer was rushed through the minors in order to help a dying team. Some are already saying the sox have a historic farm system no one has ever had 10 ranked in the top 100 even if you throw collins and fulmer off Hansen and Dunning should get consideration. Tatis was a mistake hopefully they make less of those going forward, the good news is the latam was able to identify him. Also even the vaunted Astros aren't with out their missteps; Appel over Bryant, Aiken over Rodon and releasing JD Martinez in '14. So again whats the point of this thread?
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 04:09 PM) I think people should just save the Carson Kelly talk...he ain't goin' anywhere...not with Molina getting pretty long in the tooth. Perez would probably be more realistic than Kelly...but if I had to guess at any prospects it'd be one of their arms...and I'd start with Alcantara (which might be a long shot too). Molina isn't going anywhere he is owed 40m between '18 & '19 and still very good behind the dish even with an 81wRC+. If the cards want to cash in on Kelly now for someone like Avi it makes a lot of sense they've got a two year window before they have to "retool" again.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 12:13 AM) Going to be real interesting to see what the sox do in the draft next season. If they really like that kid Turang, then it might put Tim on notice. (or if he looks like next year's Tim, then that prospect could be trade bait down the line when the sox are ready to compete and need to add a big piece. Alot of ways it can go) I personally think Tim will be fine though. I think Tim is going to get till the end of '19 before the FO considers to do anything if he can't improve, I still think he is the SS of the present and future of this rebuild. Having said that BPA when it comes to the draft if thats Beer great, if not Singer, Turang, Madrigal or Eierman would all look good in our system.
  15. Still sitting in 3rd, Phillies won today, Padres and Giants tied in the 10th
  16. Sn Fran curently leading San Diego
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 11:29 PM) Clearly trying to market Melky as a CF Hahn trying to next level
  18. good loss, appreciate the creativity from renteria
  19. Glad Shields isn't going to let us get off track from tanking
  20. Also does anyone have eyes on Burger?
  21. rough outing for dunning as others have said likely hitting the wall, this is going to happen to a lot of guys in our system as they're entering career high in pro IP. Nice bounce back for Guerrero 6IP 7H 1BB 1K 1ER
  22. QUOTE (Username @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 05:52 PM) Sox with scouts at the Rockies A-ball affiliate. Thinking they're probably a fit for Swarzak? Maybe even Avi as a long-term Cargo replacement. Abreu would fit too but I really don't see him going. Seeing the return most relievers are getting I doubt we could get Garrett Hampson but maybe someone like Brian Mundell, both of them are 45FV guys but Hampson has gotten a bit of helium in BA's recent re-ranking of the rockies org, #10. Swarzak is projected to produce .5fWAR for the remainder of the year. After listening to Hahn's full press conference after the Kahnle trade it sounds like he isn't opposed to bundling players to get better value instead of org depth so ideally he is shipped off with Avi.
  23. going to throw a name out there for a comp that isn't Kevin Millar....Aramis Ramirez
