Your 2018 Chicago White Sox Opening Day Lineup
beautox replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really like the idea of signing Chris Iannetta as a mentor and someone who can frame for these young pitchers. DH - Gillaspie# C - Iannetta - FA 1B - Abreu 2B - Moncada# SS - Anderson 3B - Davidson LF - Delmonico* CF - Garcia# RF - Engel SP - Rodon* SP - Lopez SP - Giolito SP - Chatwood / Santiago* / Tillman - FA SP - Shields C - Narvaez* UT - Sanchez# UT - Peter* OF - Garcia / Cordell / Tilson CL - Jones SU - FA SU - Bummer* MR - Clark* MR - Rule V LO - Fry* LR - Danish Trade Avisail. -
QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 09:48 PM) From reading this one would never guess that Moncada went 2 for 4 tonight with both hits being doubles.
-
Its something to build on, at times showed good command of his fastball, solid change but third time through the order they're going to start hitting you hard. I look forward to seeing what he is capable at the major league level.
-
that was s*** pitch selection, should've been a high fastball out of the zone on 0-2 after getting the second strike down broadway.
-
Hell of a fastball by Gio, wow.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) Personally...I'd hate throwing to Narvaez. I'd tell him find a place and sit your ass still....he's all over place. Seriously, it will do wonders for this young staff for the FO to spend a little money on a defensive first backstop to develop these kids going into next year. Narvaez as a back up on a contending team, sure on this team, not at all.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) For some of the people who wanted full rebuilds, the patience is amazingly short. FTFY but I agree, some fans are going to live and die with each PA and start and its going to drive them up a wall. Most prospects don't enter the league and set it on fire like Devers or Delmonico. Development isn't linear and these kids are going to need a lot of ABs and innings to make the adjustments, some will be bust, some will flame out but some will come from nowhere hopefully Delmonico and Leury and a few might actually hit their ceiling.

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 11:27 AM) I agree. I believe that when lists are out at the beginning of next year he will be in the 25-50 range and our #3 prospect behind Eloy and Kopech agreed, post graduations I think our top 5 will be Jimenez, Kopech, Hansen, Robert, Cease

QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) 22 years old Shin splints, collision with Garcia, thumb injury Less than 150 MLB AB's Been in a new city for less than a month Still holding a .320 OBP But lets completely write him off and already talk about how the Sale trade was a mistake. next year is going to be fun for some sox fans as they aren't handling the ups and downs of a team that had actual major leaguers, next year outside of Abreu, Rodon, Anderson and the few FA this is going to be a green team.

Pretty DP by the twins.
-
Delmonico is on fire now up to a 14.9 BB% & 17.6 K% and he just stole his second base, loving it.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) Not his fault, it's all on the framing Agreed, Omar has caught him 70% of the time this year and he is dog s*** at framing.

is there a reason why Narvaez always catches Carlos? his receiving is garbage.

Great news, hopefully by August of next year we can see what should probably be the future rotation. Rodon* Lopez Giolito Kopech Guerrero* or Hansen
-
Narvaez isn't smooth with the low strike at all, thats two so far.
-
Moncada OP

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Two months in AAA for Giolito isn't inconceivable if the Sox signed two guys like Santiago/Bucholz/Estrada/Chatwood as flip candidates to fill out the rotation, but I totally understand your logic. I think we see Gio up in sept, then up after they get an additional year of control out of him next year. I see our pitching staff looking like this next year. SP Rodon* SP Lopez SP Chatwood - FA SP Santiago* - FA SP Shields CL - Petricka - Jones if he comes back healthy SU - FA scrap heap SU - Bummer* MR - Goldberg MR - Rule V LO - Clark* LR - Danish

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) By the end of this season, he will have over 3 years of service time. His "cheap" window is gone. He was never a bonus baby though I think Hahn and the FO will lock him up to a 25M contract, buy out his three remaining ARB years so they have cost certainty then have two additional team options with a 750k buy out for year 1 and a 1.5M for year two.
-
In the other Delmonico thread I said I could see these three as comps Ben Broussard / Travis Shaw / Brandon Belt having said that I think his transition across the diamond looks like this LF/3B/1B/DH for the remainder of this season LF/1B/DH for '18 1B/DH for '19 when the sox lock up Abreu again and move him to DH exclusively. If the sox stumbled onto gold with Leury and Delmonico as being 2+ fWAR player it'll speed up the rebuild and take some pressure off the farm for needing to hit on everyone.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) I was at Cease's start last night, all his hits given up were soft flares, bad luck thanks for the update

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) Delmonico robbed by Cain. Yeah that was some nice range by cain, most of the time thats a double.
