Kyle Seager
As it stands Seager's contract is under water 3M thats if you think he will bounce back to what steamer projects and the reduce by .5 fWAR over the remainder of his contract. Instead of trying to package Seager with Haniger I would prefer the sox look to get Mallex Smith, best case scenario we're looking at a 3fWAR leadoff type worse case he can be a valuable 4th of on a contending club. I would consider a package like this: Seager & Smith to the sox for Carson Fulmer, Steele Walker & Laz Rivera with the sox picking up all 57M of his contract

Baseball America Top 10 Prospects
I personally think BA and Fangraphs phoned it in. Walker is a solid prospect in his own right but a switch hitting + defensive outfielder already at AA as a 21 year old is beyond a stretch.

Mets looking for catchers
Id rather trade Castillo as catching is so thin and sign Ellis to back Narvaez with Seby down in AAA. I think a Sanchez + Castillo for Jon Gray is realistic.

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
I get that but even steamer is only projecting him to be half as bad next year, defensive seasons are such small sample sizes. In the larger trend Harper is a slightly below defender in right field, i'm more inclined to believe that trend will continue when he is focusing on just RF and his contract season is off his mind.

Your Offseason Plan
I like the idea of targeting Kyle Seagar as a distressed asset (2019: $19M, 2020: $19M, 2021: $18M 2022 Team Option: $15M) from the mariners if they're really going to sell off. Maybe something like Burger + Flores with cash coming back from the Mariners

thanks, if Donaldson could come cheaper even better. Additionally id sign the likes of AJ Ellis and Drew Pomeranz to minor league deals with real money and invites to ST

Your Offseason Plan
Here is my updated thoughts, this will continue to evolve as the off season drums on. Sign Harper for 330M AAV of 33M, with opt outs at 4-5-6 and front loaded to get the opt out after 4. Sign Donaldson for 54M AAV of 18M, have him start at 3B and if need be in the future transition him to 1B/DH Sign Kikuchi for 40M AAV of 10M, Trade Sanchez & Castillo to the Rockies for Jon Gray. Both Sanchez and Gray have three years of control Castillo has one with a reasonable option. This is a classic both teams dealing from depth trade. Trade Matt Davidson & Nate Jones to the rockies for Raimel Tapia & Breiling Eusebio. Davidson has 4 years of control left and could be a cost effective monster in that park. Tapia appears to need a change of scenery and has 5 years of control. Jones for a non ranked interesting arm seems to be the going rate. Non-tender Avisail Garcia DH - Palka* (PRE) C - Narvaez* (PRE) 1B - Abreu (16M) 2B - Moncada# (PRE) SS - Anderson (1.4M) 3B - Donaldson (18M) LF - Jimenez (PRE) CF - Tapia* (PRE) RF - Harper (33M) C - Zavala (PRE) IF - Rondon (PRE) UT - Garcia# (1.9M) OF - Cordel (PRE) SP - Rodon* (3.7M) SP - Lopez (PRE) SP - Giolito (PRE) SP - Gray (3.2M) SP - Kikuchi* (10M) CL - Burdi (PRE) SU - Fry* (PRE) SU - Hamilton (PRE) MR - Bummer* (PRE) MR - Burr (PRE) LO - Frare* (PRE) LR - Ruiz (PRE) Roughly 70.9M for the starting line up, 3.4M for the bench, 17.9M for the rotation and 3.5M for the pen for a total of 95.7M. 96.7M when you factor is Peavy's million. for some context here is the sox recent total payrolls 18 - 71.8 17 - 86.3 16 - 129.7 15 - 118.8 14 - 89.2 13 - 111.7 12 - 108.9 11 - 130.6

Your Offseason Plan
I think when you look at everything, the angels, phillies and cards all fit the bill for having the money, not being up against the cap and the need. Sox fit that bill as well but maybe Machado finds the those other options and their windows more appealing.

Your Offseason Plan
I would love to see the following happen, especially since it appears Moncada is moving to 3B Sign Harper - 10/300, multiple opt outs and front loaded Pollock - 4/68 17M AAV Grandal - 3/40.5 13.5M AAV, possibly a 4th year with a mutual option 5M buyout. Pomeranz - 1 year 8M club option with 2M buy out Trade A. Garcia + Castiilo (+4.5M) + Rutherford/Basabe/Gonzalez to the Rockies for Jon Gray & Colton Welker 25 Man Roster DH - Palka* C - Grandal# 1B - Abreu 2B - Sanchez# SS - Anderson 3B - Moncada# LF - Jimenez CF - Pollock RF - Harper* SP - Rodon* SP - Lopez SP - Giolito SP - Gray SP - Pomeranz* C - Narvaez* UT - Rondon UT - Garcia# OF - Engel CL - Burdi SU - Fry* SU - Hamilton MR - Bummer* MR - Burr LO - Frare* MU - Jones

Jose Ruiz to come up Tue
My bad I didn't realize the de-escalation of his option.
-
Jose Ruiz to come up Tue
I just don't see it, He hasn't been healthy and his option is more than the purposed bullpen (4.6M), his buy out is 1.2M. I'm more inclined to believe they either buy him out or trade him

Jose Ruiz to come up Tue
How could you forget Bummer? Sox pen is going to be exciting next year; could be something special. Hopefully Burdi gets healthy down in the AFL ready to break camp at the start. CL - Burdi SU - Fry* SU - Hamilton MR - Bummer* MR - Burr LO - Frare* LR - Ruiz next year's whole bullpen should cost roughly $3,745,000. and that doesn't take into account Covey / Fulmer / Danish / Guerrero as well

2019 OD Roster Thread with a focus on Eloy
If there were odds given for Machado vs. Harper, I'm with you I'm more inclined to believe Manny comes here. Keuchel will be 31 by opening day, on the other hand Corbin will be 29 for the majority of next season. I'm not against getting a vet for the bullpen but Kimbrel is going to command a lot of money for an area the sox have shown an ability to excel at. Narvaez is certainly becoming a dude but his defense and framing(104th) are so bad, his arm is solid but thats about all he has going for him behind the dish; I view him as a luxury as a back up but a suspect as a starter. With such a young staff across the board focusing on someone like Grandal would be a boon, top 3 in framing and offense.

it should but it wont. Having said that I would hope that the white sox spend big this offseason, we're going to likely have a protected pick and our opening day payroll should be right around 18M before ARB for Abreu, Avisail, Rodon, Yolmer, Leury & Xavier. I want to see the sox go after Harper or Manny and land one of them. Additionally I think Corbin and Grandal should be high on the list all told add about 70M in AAV to the payroll.
