They do Independence Day every year and did Veterans Day last year. This complaint is ridiculous.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 21, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) The Aliens weakness is water. They are smart enough to travel across entire galaxies and they come to a planet where pretty much everything is 70% water??? I was actually enjoying SIGNS up until this. Dude, the birthday party home video was the best part of the whole movie.

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 4, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Okay, so I'm moving into first place post-college next week. I'm looking at buying my first HDTV, and I needed a bit of help from the fine folk of Soxtalk. I'm not completely blind to HDTV, as I've had family and roommates with HDTV over the past couple years. I'm currently planning on getting a 40' Samsung LCD. My question is conerning the HDMI cords: The store I'm looking at getting the TV suggests this cord; however, I have found this one online. Is there a difference in these two, outside of the price? Audio/Video cables often have HUGE markups and you can ignore Monster's nonsense about diamond plated phase harmonic inducers that improve signal quality. Go to Monoprice.com and get one for $10.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 01:08 AM) Im not being a complete hater and Im not saying shes nasty, but Paris Hilton on this list? That makes it lose all credibility. I see girls everyday walking down the street better looking than her. You can say she's nasty. It's fine.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Your Soxtalk membership should be revoked. Wrong. It's awful.

Did anyone catch UFC 83 last night? The last minute of Quarry vs Starnes has to be the funniest moment in MMA history.

QUOTE (vandy125 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) This is probably one of the best things that ID has done for science, it has pointed to some holes, which has lead to scientific exploration and even more discoveries (filling some of those holes in knowledge). Can you give an example? This may be true, but it is not the point of the movie. Expelled is about the idea that ID is a valid scientific theory and that supporters of that theory are routinely discriminated against in the scientific/academic community for no good reason.

QUOTE (vandy125 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 04:38 AM) Now, wasn't that exactly what I was talking about? Have you seen it? I have not (didn't see the other ones I talked about either. I am one close-minded bastage). I'm wondering if we have any first-handed accounts of it and what you thought. Are you saying that it is impossible to judge a movie without seeing it? Or that the many people who have seen it are not reporting on it accurately?

QUOTE (vandy125 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 05:17 AM) Wow, interesting to see the discussion. Has anyone actually seen the movie, or is everyone just going to dismiss it outright? That seems to be a big point in the movie from what I have read about it. All of the ideas are preformed with defenses built around them even amongst people with "open" minds. I'm sure that someone will say, I don't need to see it, I already know what kind of crap is going to come out. I have a feeling that some who are saying that also were offended when they heard someone else say the same thing about a Michael Moore film or even Al Gore's film. Those people had obviously closed their minds. The content of the movie is already well-known. It has been reviewed extensively.

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) Say what you will about the movie, the central conflict here is that schools are funded by tax dollars in this country and only 12% of the population want an evolution-only curiculum. 55 % want all three of ID, creationism, and evolution taught while 23% want creationism only. Given who is paying for the schools, people of faith can make a strong case that creationism and ID should be taught alongside evolution and if secularists have a problem with that, they can always home school. Or we can do away with public funding of education. It's a hard argument to refute. How many people in that poll do you think could even define the terms evolution, Intelligent Design, and Creationism, much less have an in-depth knowledge of the relevant scientific fields? I would prefer the people designing school course content to know something about the topics in question. The "majority wants it" argument probably won't fly with the courts either, who have repeatedly ruled against ID/Creationism.

All reviews so far point to this movie being an F- in content and delivery.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) Is he claiming that middle America embraces religion because they lost thier jobs and the economy is hard? it sounds an awful lot like he is saying that religion is the opiat of the masses, and the only reason people focus on that, and gun rights, etc. is bacuse they are in hard economic times. Are you referring to the video athomeboy posted? Obama said that people vote on things like gun control and religious issues because they don't believe the government can ever do anything helpful about economic issues.

Probably because this "reverse speech" system is a bunch of nonsense promoted by one guy who will sell you some reverse speech interpretation courses so you can become a "reverse speech analyst" for only a few thousand dollars. This guy might as well reference the time he used his Ouija board to contact a ghost witness who saw Obama eating a kitten. -

The self-tip was the most impressive dunk of the night (behind the backboard second best). Superman and The Cupcake were most entertaining.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) I say "washed up" only because he was one of the first notable names in the UFC His record was 8-6 before he lost 7 of his last 8 decisions, so I know he's never been any kind of unstoppable monster. He was always a one-trick pony knockout guy and his quick fade was inevitable because he's never been in shape. There were also a lot of cans in those early UFC days.
