QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) Couric: What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with? Palin: Well, let's see. There's, of course in the great history of America there have been rulings, that's never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but … Couric: Can you think of any? Palin: Well, I could think of … any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But, you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a vice president, if I'm so privileged to serve, wouldn't be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today. ------- Unreal. The video should be floating around in the next half hour. EDIT- Hear It Is http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4493093n BARF That's not as bad as it was being portrayed. I was hearing that she couldn't name ANY landmark Supreme Court cases like Marbury v Madison, Brown v Board of Education, etc. Asking for decisions you don't like is tougher to answer.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 01:32 AM) I believe that is his original "power". Anyways, really interested to see how this season plays out with him and where they go with Sylar and Peter. It's Heroes. Nothing has to make any sense.

I might feel bad for him if some other player made the error, but it was his fielding screwup that led to the hit/error...

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 07:04 PM) He split the refs lip open. You are seeing the follow through I watched the video of it. If he actually did make contact he must have just grazed the ref with his shoe/sock. -

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) *BAM* He either whiffed or has extremely weak kicks, because it had no effect on the ref other than startling him. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) Hopeful but not optimistic. Hopefully Rick Rubin owns a time machine. It can't be any worse than St. Anger.

Yeah, my company uses Google Analytics. We formerly used WebTrends, but that costs $$$$$$$$$. Free is good.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 12:58 AM) It keeps giving me songs from bands which I've already added to my station. Yeah, I like the songs, but I'm looking for new stuff I usually start a station with 2-3 bands as seeds. When it starts to get a little repetitive, I replace one of the seeds and quite often I will get a few dozen new songs popping up.

Ohio town split over teacher accused of preaching

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 01:19 AM) I guess he won teacher of the year too, which was brought up in the interview, but not the article. I think one of the main issues here is that he keeps a bible on his desk. If you check out the report made by the HR firm (here), it appears that the 2 things mentioned most in the media, the Bible on the desk and the cross burned into the arm, are two of the LEAST relevant things that occured. The burned cross appears to be a lot of media hype ("Teacher burns cross into student's arm!"). While putting crosses onto students' arms is inappropriate and causing minor electrical burns is just farkng dumb, the students did volunteer and there was no indication that the teacher intended to cause any harm. The red marks disappeared in a short period of time for most students. One student involved had some kind of bad reaction to the process and his mark lasted for weeks rather than days. That kid's parents made a complaint. The teacher's supporters keep talking about the Bible on the desk in an attempt to make it seem like it was the only reason he got into such hot water and that he is being persecuted (omg secularists!) for his beliefs. In reality, his personal Bible was by far the most benign element of his religious beliefs he brought into the classroom. Some of the other highlights: 10 commandments and other religious posters displayed in the room Bibles in the classroom for student use, not his personal use Inappropriate leadership in student prayer group contrary to school policy Taught Creationism/ID in the classroom Repeated insubordination after being told to not teach Creationism/ID Distributed (and recollected) handouts to students from "All About God Ministries" Assigned extra credit for students seeing a movie about Intelligent Design Was a poor science teacher overall (teachers in subsequent grades complained his students didn't understand even the basic concept of science) Had a discussion with students about Easter/Good Friday/the Resurrection Had a discussion with students about the evils of homosexuality -
That second fight was really heavily edited, so I'm guessing the full 15 minutes were not as great.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) Her acting is just as terrible as both of those F4 movies. She is no redeemer anymore, that movie was bad all around Her value to that movie is not related to her acting

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 01:35 AM) No, that's totally wrong. The action in this movie was SO MUCH MORE over the top than any of the other three combined. In The Last Crusade, he shoots through like 4 German soldiers on a tank. In the new one, they drive a car into a tree, which lightly drops them into a river. In The Temple of Doom, he rides in a rail car. In the new one, he survives a nuclear bomb by hiding in a fridge and being thrown half a mile in it. This movie was nothing like the others. In Temple of Doom, Short Round kicks a guy in the shin. In the new one, Mudd swings across dozens of jungle vines leading an army of monkeys which attack the bad guys.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) Concious? Yes. Coherent? Debatable. He took a couple of really good shots at the end there, he looked like he was more than a little bit loopy. He even pushed the refs face away when he was being restrained, he didnt look like he knew where he was for a second He was certainly loopy, but considering the quality of punches Kimbo was throwing at the time and the significant leeway Kimbo was given at the end of round 2, Thompson deserved better.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) Theyre attempt to make Kimbo seem unbeatable until they were ready to go for the blockbuster fight took a big hit. I think it seems apparent if he fights one of the top wrestlers he is going to be in trouble unless he lands some early punches. That guys ear wanted to make me throw up. Im exactly sure what they can do about something like that but I would hope they could drain it somehow. Kimbo is EliteXC's moneymaker. They'll keep feeding him cans. Thompson is like a D-level fighter and he won the first two rounds and if not for a series of calls that went against him (standup while in side-control?, no stoppage at end of 2nd, early stoppage in third), he may have won. Kimbo's ground game is really bad and even his power has to come into question now based on how many punches a Glass Joe was able to take from him.
-
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) I don't mean just the Kimbo fight, because I known there are other possible reasons for that. But the middleweight and the women's fight seemed to get a quick stop, too. And what's the 'hierarchy' of these leagues? Is UFC>EliteXC, vice versa, about equal? UFC is the best organization right now. It is lacking in the heavyweight division though, with a lot of big name guys not around (Fedor, Barnett, Couture, Sylvia, etc), but otherwise, it's got the best guys. EliteXC is on a much lower level. There were a lot of questionable stoppages.

Carano-Young was just about the only good fight of the evening. A championship bout turns into a no-contest due to an accidental eye gouge, and a questionable ending to the main event. Not a great first MMA event for network television.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 31, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) I can see why to a point. Theyve kind of been making things up as they go along in an attempt to make her famous. Having a girl that is that attractive in a sport is a huge benefit. However, unlike people like Kournakova and Danica Patrick she is actually very good at the sport. It's more because not making weight is very unprofessional, and this isn't the first time it has happened.

People in MMA are starting to hate her now.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) A lot of people in here really missed the entire point of Signs. The title alone has two meanings. Signs = crop signs, Signs = things with greater meaning. No one misses the point of Signs. The twist was so heavy-handed and ridiculous that you can't miss it. HEY, LOOK AT THIS! THE WIFE'S LAST WORDS ARE SAVING THEM! THE DAUGHTER'S OCD IS SAVING THEM! THE SON'S ASTHMA IS SAVING HIM!
