QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Ooops...this just in, the Twins are making more money from advanced sales of Target Field "Stadium Tours" than we are in advanced ticket sales for the 7 games on this homestand. So.... what does this have to do with the topic of the thread... that you started? Hijacking your own thread (about Sox minor leaguers... in a minor league forum no less) to talk about the Twins... again?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Can someone look up how many games back we were in 1983 at 16-24 (at that point in the season)? Right now, it's looking like it will be 7 1/2 and possibly 8. At 16-24, they were 7 games back. (That was the last weekend of May). Link to get a summary of that entire season's games, schedule, etc.

I don't know why people are reading "ultimatum" into this. He said he's going to evaluate things in a month. Every year he says you have to wait til June to see what you've got. Sounds like he's telling people worried about the team to lighten up for a month to me.

Even thought Alexi struck out... pretty good at-bat for him. I mean... how many 9 pitch at-bats has he had in his career so far? Not too many I would guess.
-
What happened to Eric Byrnes? Some bizarre behavior (in-games and out) have led the Mariners to flat out releasing him this week.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 2, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Not so good from Leesman 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, SO. Leesman had a really tough 1st inning... giving up all 4 runs... and 4 of the 6 hits he gave up. Pitched pretty well the next 4 innings though... 0 runs on 2 hits.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ May 2, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) wow what joke with that lineup Pretty much the lineup we had yesterday... only with Alexei playing SS... and Kotsay leading off rather than Vizquel.

From the article: "One major-league scout said this week that the Sox and San Diego Padres had further discussions about Adrian Gonzalez and even discussed names. It shouldn't come as a surprise because the organizations know each other's personnel so well after the Jake Peavy deal." Hmmm... let's see. I wasn't an English major in college, but I'm pretty sure that if the two teams had further discussions about Adrian Gonzalez, that means they must have had previous discussions about him. But... but... I thought the two teams didn't have discussions about him. That was just a fantasy made up by some guys sitting in their parents basements. Wasn't it??

What I don't understand in the Pierre at-bat... why let him swing away? Wouldn't a drag bunt have been the perfect play in that situation? Give up an out, but pretty much guaranteed to score the run... Gotta get creative when you're struggling offensively. Instead, we got the Pierre standard at-bat... an unproductive out.

If Pierre was a horse, they'd take him out and shoot him.

Good simple format Dan. I like it.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) As always, good stuff, Jeff. + 1 Absolutely. Very nicely done.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) Your agenda wouldn't be anymore clearer then if you just came out and said "I live to suck off the Twins."

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) Escobar's superior power/patience > Gilmore's inflated average. Superior power?? Please. Escobar has 1 more extra base hit on the season in the exact same number of at-bats (81). (Meanwhile, Gilmore has 12 more hits.) Superior patience?? Escobar has a grand total of 2 more walks... and he's struck out 4 more times than Gilmore. Plus Gilmore is 6'3" 195 lbs... Escobar is 5'10" and 150 pounds. Extremely doubtful that Escobar will EVER have anywhere near the power Gilmore does.
-
QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Eduardo Escobar has a higher ISO than Jon Gilmore. Ok... but after tonight, both have 81 at-bats and... Gilmore is batting .395 with a .427 OBP and .896 OPS. Escobar is batting .259 with a .319 OBP and .652 OPS.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) Seriously? The Sox had three straight games where they came back late to win, just this past weekend. Their clutch hitting is still bad, but did you not notice those games they just played? It's what I refer to as FADS... Fan Attention Deficit Syndrome. Symptoms: Prior wins are forgotten immediately the day after a loss; anything good a player/manager, etc. does is forgotten quickly while anything wrong they do sticks in long-term memory. Etc.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) Can't deny it any longer. Liriano is back. And our playoff chances, even in late April, take a hit. I watched replays of him shutting out the Tigers. Pretty impressive. Serious downward movement on his pitches...

CJ in a big-time slump... 3 hits in his last 32 at-bats Drops his season average to low .200's. Ouch

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Phegley diagnosed with I-T-P syndrome Says he will miss another month. Terrible situation for him. I know someone who had this. If this is the diagnosis, wow... a month might be extremely optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends his season.

Embarrassing series of throws in a game by Greg Zaun... Made me laugh. Thought I'd post it.

Saw this in a Yahoo article about fans getting hurt at games... "During spring training, Minnesota outfielder Denard Span lined a foul ball that hit his mother sitting in the stands near the Twins’ dugout." Geez. What are the odds of hitting your mother with a line drive during a game?

Good to see Salvador Sanchez doing well. He was one of the 'big 4' offensively for the 2007 Great Falls team that was so impressive. CJ Retherford Sanchez Jim Gallagher Christian Marrero and several other current Barons Pretty good pitching on that team too. Poreda Ely Anthony Carter Leroy Hunt and others I know that's only rookie ball, but that was a great summer and a fun team to follow.
