  1. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) Good point, projections are pulled out of some statistician's ***, and have no basis in reality, and are definitely not predicated on factors like player's past performance. You know the point I was trying to make here. Last time I checked, they didn't hand out wins on who looks like they're going to win. They still play the game.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) This "minor move" would have add a projected 44 runs to our average to below-average lineup. That's a big deal They play seasons on projections now?
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Apparently, Hinrich to Lakers is ESPNs new odd rumor. Kirk to the LA for Morrison and Fisher. Or how about Kirk on the Cavs? For Ilgauskas. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/333394-...ls-kirk-hinrich I'd much rather trade Salmons at this point. as he doesn't fit in at SG like Kirk, and I like a Kirk-Rose backcourt for ball movement. I don't want Z. No thanks, I'd keep Kirk anyday. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Am I the only one who saw how much worse the team was without Hinrich? I think he's one of the best defenders on this team. IMO, you hold on to him until you get a deal that you can't pass up.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Well now that this is clearly not a Sox thread, shouldnt this be moved? That. It also seems that some of ST is ready to hand over the division to a team that made a minor move. Yes, it's a minor move because he won't be playing as much as some of you think he will. I like Thome too, but we need to stop acting like this guy was the second coming.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 08:27 AM) Seriously, is there a cooler player in the NBA than Joakim Noah? I struggle to find someone out there who you can tell loves the game as much as he does and loves to win as much as he does. I don't think we give the organization enough credit for this draft pick. He is playing through a lot of pain, and this quote makes me giddy. ''When you get caught up in the game, you start forgetting about it,'' Noah said of the pain. ''It was pretty painful. It just feels good right now because we beat three solid teams in a row." Not only that, one of the coolest guys to ever meet. If it wasn't for Rose or Buehrle, he'd be my favorite Chicago athlete.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Thank God this is over. I wish, but some people on this board like to beat a dead horse...
  7. QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) No Aaron Gray was my favorite Bull. I know Mhizzle will be disappointed as well. I guess my new favorite is going to have to be that Rose kid. Hopefully he turns out good. I should sue you for slander.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) Cowley: "Oz makes it official - see ya big guy. Thome will not be brought back this year." Superb. Can we close this thread & stop all Thome talk on ST now?
  9. I don't like the Cubs. I mean technically, that's a Chicago 'thing' right?
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:43 AM) <!--quoteo(post=2074943:date=Jan 23, 2010 -> 04:55 PM:name=Brian)-->QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) <!--quotec-->Any sound clips of Stacey King going off after that Rose dunk? Stacey King just made it that much more better for me.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) Why do so many pine for Kobe? Don't people remember 1997? Don't get me wrong. A couple of the dunks were nice. But he certainly didn't "wow" anybody. He's never been a "great" dunker. And at 31, I don't think he would add much to the contest other than name recognition. Because he's a name & he's won it before.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 12:52 AM) Whatever happened to the annual thread where they rate posters like most annoying poster, most fun to go to a bar with, etc? I figured this year after such a wild September I might be voted most hated poster. Sorry this is in a different section but I've been looking for the awards. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75986
  13. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) Kobe is pretty damn close, guy is golden Nope. Not hearing it. Kobe's not within sniffing distance. He can have 2nd best ever, but he'll never be the best. End of story.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) No kidding. The one he had in high school (Simeon) against my high school (Washington) when he gave that one dude (forgot his name) a facial from the CPS championship was still crazy (I'm not even counting that dunk against that white dude on his mixtape on youtube which was just ungodly) I would say however that was the best pro dunk facial he's had so far. I'd kinda place his facial on Barbosa from last year ahead of the one last night. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) Any sound clips of Stacey King going off after that Rose dunk? I think last night was just an ESPN game so I don't think there is one, but if I'm wrong...I wanna hear it too. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) With the game on the line who do I want with the ball, Kobe or LeBron, I still go with Kobe and until LeBron beats Kobe like MJ did Magic, the baton still belongs to Bryant... I hate this argument. Because if you'd like to get technical, I'm picking Robert Horry to take my game winning shot.
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) It's really a sad day when SIU and ISU plays and no one cares. If it helps any, I've never cared about that matchup. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Not that I've watched ESPN that much this year, but I do find it funny that when the Big 10 is down you hear about it non stop but this year's Pac 10 is quite possibly the worst major conference in basketball ever and I haven't heard them take near the abuse the Big 10 does in a down year and the Big 10 has never been even close to this bad. I don't think the Pac 10 deserves a single at large team. It's been discussed a little bit. I think it's also the fact that no one outside of the west coast really cares about the Pac 10 being horrible.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) You people make me sick. + 2 I may enjoy all kinds of pizza, but nothing compares to a good stuffed or deep dish pizza.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) Stats are obviously not everything. But Lebron puts Kobe to shame in just about every statistical category (standard and advanced) that there is. That just can't be overlooked, IMO. Yeah, Kobe's been around longer and he's got the four rings. But there really is no legitimate argument one can make for Kobe currently being a better player than Lebron. I was agreeing with you on Lebron being the best player in the league actually. I just had this debate with a couple of friends who are Lakers friends just 2 nights ago. QUOTE (SockMe @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) That Posterization by D Rose was the best I ever seen It was nice, but I wouldn't say it was that great. I've seen Rose do better.
  18. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) Kobe Bryant says hello... Nah I'm also gonna say Lebron is the best player in the league. On top of that I'd say if we're talking best offensive players, you've gotta throw Carmelo into the discussion IMO.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Lashley is fighting Wes Simms on the next Showtime Strikeforce card... and the sound of crickets. Well, they're handpicking his opponents. Not surprised. About Brock, I'm happy he's back. Until his interviews turned into him being so anti-healthcare for everyone. We get it Brock, you're not for it. Now that he's healthy, I can go back to hoping Mir kicks his ass this summer.
  20. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) lol - true, but I mean go to the next level, be the finisher, prime, he's going to win it all this year. When Lebron decides to start using a post game, that's when he's gonna win it all. IMO, that's the only thing he lacks.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Sorry, forgot this in the last post. It's a mostly (around 70%-80%) black school and a lot of the staff is black. In fact, in English last year, our teacher was black and one of my black friends said "Why she tryin' to teach us to speak like white people." Seriously? Trust me, a lot of them can improve, one guy could have straight A's if he tried. But to give you his mentality, last year in Chemistry, we we're working on some homework, my friend (since kindergarten, but he's changed in high school) shows up 10 minutes into class, and gets mad when the teacher won't give him extra time to do an assignment we turned in at the start of class. So he get's up and says "All you black people, watch out, because she's out to get you" and he stormed out. My best friend (half black, fourth mexican, fourth white) says "So, what about me?" "I guess I hate your feet." Same class, another girl asks if "all the black people can work together" and the teacher says "No." "Why?" "Because if a white person said it, it'd be racist" "Oooo, you right." Some of this has to do with the home mentality as well. I'm black & I speak proper, but I never thought of it as "talking like white people" until I heard someone refer it to as such.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) F*ck the Bulls. I'm so f*cking sick of these dogsh*t f*cking players. (Minus D-Rose) No Noah?
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) This might have been in the thread already, but do you guys know if Monte Kiffin followed his son to USC? I believe he did.
