  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 06:27 PM) I have a feeling that guys like Hawk know what they say they believe is actually wrong, they're just too stubborn to give up on it. You might be right, but I always thought the opposite. That they have been rewarded their whole lives for believing in their own bulls***, when really, they were just good enough in some other ways to overcome it.
  2. I almost bit it on a bridge driving down lake going over rt 83. Slid for a good 200 feet.
  3. Adam Dunn batted .030 on this 10 game road trip I heard.
  4. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:26 PM) Wow, this is just asinine Diamondbacks owner forces Dodgers fans to change clothes or move seats http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...html#more-74437 Due to the high visibility of the home plate box, we ask opposing team's fans when they purchase those seats to refrain from wearing that team's colors. During last night's game, when Ken Kendrick noticed the fans there, he offered them another suite if they preferred to remain in their Dodger gear. When they chose to stay, he bought them all D-backs gear and a round of drinks and requested that they abide by our policy and they obliged. There is nothing wrong with that, imo.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 05:16 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...11649--mlb.html Quentin's twitter feed hacked...I liked the line "went all psychopathic like The Punisher" (@missnighthawk on Twitter) Granted, this is a very tame alteration, which is part of the reason why we can bring it to you, but it's still pretty funny. It's also factually correct, or at least the part about Nick Blackburn being the pitcher who's hit him the most is correct. In 37 plate appearances, Blackburn has drilled Quentin four times. That's a pretty high rate, though not as high as Quentin's batting average (.419) against him. Quentin has also homered three times against the Minnesota Twins right-hander. Three different pitchers have plunked Quentin three times. Of course Zack Greinke is the most notable name in that group for several reasons. Jon Lester of the Boston Red Sox is also on that short list. But if there was one person who should be truly watching his back, it would be Erik Bedard. He's equaled that total in just nine plate appearances. Maybe it's just me, but if a guy is hitting me every third plate appearance on average, that's the one I'd be seeking answers from. I hope quentin breaks his shoulder too. These pitchers often don't get what's coming to them. Whether Zack tried to hit him this time or not, he has certainly tried in the past.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 05:40 PM) Umm....they already own 40% of ComCast. I thought 20% of it can be attributed to the white sox? The other 20% is for the bulls no? Different ownership groups. Different teams. Different payrolls.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) It's a chance I would take given I don't think the Sox will be contenders in 2014. Or at the very best, I don't think the difference between Ramirez and his replacement will keep the Sox from contending. I think i am going to utilize the ignore function for the fist time ever. You have no idea who is even on this team or what happened in an entire year of baseball throughout the entire organization.
  8. Defensively, Beckham looks like one of the top 5 2B in baseball with or without Alexei.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 6, 2013 -> 11:08 PM) I think he'll be like Clemens and RJ, throwing strong at 40. He's just got such an easy delivery. Someone will pay him 200 for sure and I'm with you, please let it be Detroit. Who is RJ? Clemens was roided up like crazy just to stay healthy. He still got hurt some, like in the world series.
  10. QUOTE (southside_hitman @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) "Ozzie Guillen on Peavy vs. Pierzynski: "'I always say when two white guys fight, the foreigners stay away from that,' said Guillen, a native of Venezuela. ‘I just got my (citizenship) two years ago. I want to stay away from that.'" As I mentioned earlier, I do not want to engage you in any discussion here, and I won't, but it is interesting that you want to engage me. Sorry dude, you are on my permanent ignore list. I don't understand how that can be understood to definitively be a racist comment. I mean, what ozzie said was pretty stupid, but those are just the thoughts of a single individual, who said a great number of stupid things through out his life and it is posted without comment.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) We've been down this road before. You can say that he has advocated trading for the likes or BJ Upton and Juan Pierre. OTOH, Marty has spent 80% of his time the last couple of years advocating that Ramirez and Viciedo be traded, and that KW was a bad GM. Still, he has defended Ozzie Guillen, so he's apparently not against all Hispanics, although he's been very quiet about Alex Rios. Maybe it's Marty's version of a backhand compliment that he realizes both Ramirez and Viciedo have more trade value than pretty much anyone on the Sox not named Chris Sale. It just gets to seem like a pattern/trend because he's ceaselessly picking on Ramirez earning just $7.5 million this season when the likes of Dunn, Konerko and John Danks are earning considerably more... Or perhaps it comes off as an anti-Cuban bias, who knows. So I would ask the opposite. Has he ever said anything positive about a Cuban player on the Sox? There's only two cubans on the team. You can't make a pattern out of two. In my mind, marty pretty much hates the white sox as they are whether he knows it or not and who he decides to pick on is pretty inconsequential.
  12. Just a note for anyone that cares - tomorrow on the score robin ventura, chris sale and rick hahn will all be on macneil's show.
  13. If I ever go to a spring training game please remind me that the cameras follow the people all break long.
  14. Wow awful awful bad dive there.
  15. QUOTE (jhonnydanks @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 03:47 PM) any chance this galifianakis guy is going to start at 3rd? ground rule double, sox up 3-0. seems like all he does is hit. I'm sure he could play himself into a mostly starting role during the season. Konerko singles another one home.
  16. This is awesome. First baseball I am watching this year.
  17. Last year, one of the cards games. In 2008 the play in game, but I ended up seeing people I know. I think another sox game last year too. Might have been the year before. I was enamored with some girl and I planned on meeting her later that day in the city so I figured I would go to the game then to see her. Didn't work out so well. Got too drunk. Sox got smoked by the indians. edit - it was 2011
  18. If he is worth signing I suspect our o line coach would know.
  19. The white sox roster is usually quite dynamic throughout the year, so I don't blame pectora for messing it up somewhat. Some years, however, make no sense at all, like 2006.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) Even if they had slg or obp it wouldnt be on that card.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) You're a bulls fan who doesn't miss the Jordan era? Look at screen name too. Lol, just lol.
