In January of 2006 I doubt Tiger fans had much to be optimistic about as the world champions added Jim Thome and Javy Vazquez. They wound up in the WS 9 months later. I don't think the White Sox will wind up in the WS or necessarily believe the others in the divsion will either, but I'd be shocked if Detroit goes on an AL central dominating run like the mid to late 90's Indians.

Nothing like giving guys promotions for the fine job they are doing overseeing what some call the worst farm system in baseball.

I read JR's statement and don't see anything about Ozzie not quitting other that JR giving his blessing for Ozzie to quit. He quit. He had a contract for 2012. If he was fired the Sox wouldn't have received compensation. In order to become the manager of the Marlins, Ozzie had to quit his job with the White Sox. Sorry Greg.

He demanded more from his players, he should have expected the same out of himself.

If Paterno really wanted Sandusky away from the kids in Sandusky's program and/or really wanted him out of Happy Valley, he very easily could have had it done, and I don't mean having him knocked off. To think any of the players in this scandal had anywhere near the influence Paterno had is ridiculous.

Ten years from now, that may be Paterno's legacy. He did the minimum. More is expected. If I reported something to my boss about a guy raping a kid and nothing was being done, if I had JoePa's pull, I'd make sure something was done. There is no doubt Sandusky is the criminal here, but there is zero excuse that Paterno didn't do enough, and he himself acknowledged that.
