QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) Jeffrey Loria makes payroll every month. Jeffrey Lorias wife isnt using the club as leverage in a divorce. And if Selig would approve the Fox deal, McCourt would be out of the woods as well. The excuse that he will use some of that money for personal use is hypocrital.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) Major League Baseball is already accusing McCourt of siphoning off more than 100 million from the franchise for his own personal use. Wilder looks like a pickpocket compared to McCourt and his soon to be ex wife. Jeffrey Loria spends revenue sharing money on personal things. Like it or not, I'm sure JR's private jet has been gassed up using White Sox profits.

White Sox @ Rockies, 7:40pm, WCIU

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) I honestly root for Pierre to fail now. In all my years of watching White Sox baseball, I can say I've never done that. I root for JP to fail and the Sox to win despite him every time... At the most, there are only about 82 games left in Juan Pierre's regular season White Sox career. You might as well cheer for him to do well, because at this rate, if they ever finally decide to make a change my be too late. Viciedo is due to cool off. It would have been nice having him in the line up while he's on fire. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) The players will get paid, but that doesn't mean the White Sox will. That is different. The Sox are a creditor, not an employee. The Dodgers still have a lot more assets than liabilities. The Sox will get paid. The Dodgers would basically have to fold for the Sox to be left high and dry.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) I hate to burst your bubble, because I know you are just having a great time right now, I mean, like, the most fun you've ever had, but there's a big difference between the usage of JR Smith and Jason Richardson. Really, arguing that JR Smith is a better player than Jason Richardson just shows that anyone can cherry-pick stats. Over the last four seasons, Jason Richardson (313 games played) has been the more effective player across the board than JR Smith (308 games played), despite being a much more focal point of his team's offense. Richardson and Smith are nearly identical in PER over the past 4 seasons (16.74 to 16.675, slight edge to J-Rich). However, Richardson has the advantage over Smith in FG%, 3P%, FT% (and obviously and inherently points, boards, etc as he carries more of a workload). JR Smith, despite playing 9.5 fewer MPG over that span of 300+ games, turns the ball over more than Richardson. In the end, you've got two solid, but not ideal options for the Bulls come FA whenever that becomes feasible. To just check-mate this as Smith being the better player, or better shooter, or better scorer, well, that just ignores facts. The man can shoot the ball and would be an obvious upgrade for the Bulls, and I imagine he'd also be cheaper and age better throughout the contract. I guess the reputation that comes with JR Smith scares me away, but I think that reputation is more perceived than factual as I go through the Google logs. Depending on the CBA, I'd rather Richardson in the short term, but JR would be a solid consolation prize. So you've opened my eyes a tad to JR Smith, though I don't see why you are getting so worked up, c'est la vie. No need to worry or argue. You have a better chance of seeing the Lord than John Paxson, Jerry Reinsdorf and Gar Foreman offering JR Smith any money. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) Farmer's been on the fans for this, and it goes something like "booing a guy will never help him out of a slump (it will only make things worse...)" What will his family, his children attending the game think about Chicago fans? He's a part of the White Sox family...it's our responsibility to support him. How does being negative help the situation? DJ's response was more like "it goes with the territory...when you're scuffling or playing under your expected level of performance, you know it's coming." Just have to take it an at-bat at a time and slowly put together a good game, then a good streak of positive at-bats, etc. Get back to basics, see the ball, hit the ball. Basically, the fans are paying good money for tickets and its their right to express their feelings and emotions, as long as they're not profane or disrupting others' enjoyment of the game. I never thought at any point in this season I'd be much more concerned about Dunn than either Rios or Peavy, that's for sure. Once Dunn starts performing, the booing will stop. Pitchers don't strike out as much as he does. -

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...-chorus-of-boos Bold font is my doing. I could have really scalded these two for what they said about Adam's struggles, i.e. "not giving away any at bats...100 Ks before HALF the season isn't giving any at bats away???" and blah blah blah, but then I read the next quote: IMHO - Dunn should just shield off everyone else except his captain, Konerko; his batting coach Walker, and Ozzie about anything related to hitting, and tell the rest of the league/fans/media/etc to STFU. I don't boo players except Jaime Navarro, but I do think people have the right to boo someone making a ton of money playing a game. If its too much, I'm sure Adam has made more money already this year than millions will make in a lifetime, he can go home. That said, when the game begins, Dunn is not booed. He's not booed when they announce the line ups. He's not booed when he's announced as the hitter, he's booed when he strikes out, and we haven't seen this rate of strikeouts for a long time. It looked to me like Friday night he may have something to build on, but something is very wrong. He's late on 86 MPH fastballs. He's fanned 16 times his last 6 games. He has 11 games with at least 3 strikeouts. He's only had 9 games with at least 3 plate appearances where he hasn't struck out at least once. -
Rongey with the return on the investment crap is just spewing what he believes to be the company line. He also stated that one hitter isn't going to make a difference. So I suppose he probably believes that if Adam Dunn was hitting like most thought he would instead of how he actually is, since he is only one guy, it really wouldn't matter. He can't really believe that. I bet you if you got him hammered and he was spilling the truth, he would tell you it was time for Juan Pierre to either sit down or go home.

Humber pitched a great game. The whole premise about having a starter pitch to someone that is going to be their last hitter no matter what happens, generally means you will regret leaving him in. -

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) Two of the worst offensive players in the American league batting one and two.... Go Sox! It would look nice about 8 years ago. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) So this has always been KW's decision if Guillen is to be believed. Its ultimately the GMs decision in making the roster, but most of the top GMs do try to provide what their manager wants. Ozzie can be a clown all he wants because he knows if the Sox ultimately tell him to go shove it, or if he tells them to shove it, he can go to the Marlins and his act won't get old for several years. Plus in the NL, he can bunt until Oney comes up with an intelligent comment without anyone complaining.

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:45 AM) “I don’t give a [expletive] what people say about me, I don’t,” Guillen said. “As long as I’m manager of this team and JP is here, he’s playing. You don’t want him here, well get him out of here and bring whoever they want to bring.” “I’ve said in the past, they want Viciedo here, my door is open, as soon as he’s here I’ll play him every day,” Guillen said. “Now, I make it clear, they gotta make a trade or make a decision to send someone down. I cannot play with a 26 man roster. But as long as JP is here, he’s playing. If people don’t like it….” OK Kenny, that's your queue. I know its a small sample size, but the White Sox are 4-1 in games Pierre doesn't leadoff. BTW, there is no one that cares more about what people say about them than Ozzie Guillen.

Viciedo with a homer. Hopefully his days of providing a living for Charlotte fast food establishment owners will be coming to an end soon.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) What's everyone's feeling on Beckham? I don't see a Major League caliber hitter. I'm surprised he hasn't snapped out of it, but he will. I still believe he will be the best player on the White Sox eventually. -

14-107 a .131 batting average with 51 strikeouts at home for Dunn. Even his biggest detractors would have a hard time believing those numbers. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) By the way this is Juan's line against LHP this year: .317 .446 .333 .779 This is Adam Dunn's: .020 .186 .020 .207 Yes that is correct, Juan is killing Dunn against lhp this year. And his only hit was of the scratch hit variety. Its been a struggle. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) I understand how the DH works, I just am not starting a guy with 1 hit against lhp. Id do anything else, Im pretty sure even JP is hitting lefties better. Are we just hoping for random luck that Dunn runs into one? I would venture to guess...........yes. Dunn hasn't historically been this bad vs. LHP. Chances are if I had has many reps in the cage as Dunn I could go 1 for 50.He's due. I remember Thome going up against Sabatthia a few years ago, no one giving him a chance since he really struggled previously and he took him deep twice. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Honestly the obsession with "All in" is scary. It is an advertising campaign for gods sake. Does everyone expect to see the Miller Lite Guards if you pick up a case of bud light with your strawberry body wash too? Let it go people. While "All In" is indeed an advertising campaign, it isn't something the ad agency came up with. Its from quotes from JR and KW when they signed Dunn and brought AJ and Konerko back. Quote from KW at the Dunn press conference: It's uncomfortable sometimes, but you either are all in or you are not. And if you are not, then present that message to your fans. Be straight and say, 'I don't think we are going to do very much and here's the plan going forward.' If you are in it, stand up and show you are." Then he said this: "Yeah, I make [Reinsdorf] uncomfortable a little bit sometimes," said Williams, who quipped the White Sox were looking for money under couch cushions to pay for the budget increase. "Hopefully we can continue to build the best team possible and people will get excited and support us, and then I get to keep my job." I wonder if KW really frets about job security or if it is more fake humility.

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) Juan Pierre's OPS is now below .600. To be fair, Adam Dunn might join him there soon. Maybe its just wishful thinking, but I think Dunn is about to turn it around. He almost homered last night, and they showed him on second after his double on the board, there was a big sigh of relief from him. Maybe playing against his old teammates relaxes him a bit and he can move on from there. Physically,I just don't think its normal to go that bad that quickly. Its happened, but its unusual. It has to be mental. I really don't think he's going to get to his usual numbers except for strikeouts, but I do think he'll be far more useful the rest of the season.

QUOTE (Real @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) It actually isn't very amazing if you read some of the posts here a lot of the posters here will blindly follow certain players regardless of how indefensible their actions are it's funny, AJ is widely known and accepted around major league baseball as being a jackass, a jerk, and overall toolbag. he shows up a teammate and there are people here defending him because they hate jake peavy. lol, what a joke. Or there are people who really don't know exactly what the problem who hate AJ so they just assume the problem was AJ showed him up. Do you know what was said? Seems to me you are accusing people of doing exactly what you are doing. Teammates argue all the time. We will really know if this was a huge issue if Castro becomes Peavy's personal catcher.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) Jackson probably made himself a lot of money last night. You have to think Washington is a favorite to sign him especially since they get along well with boras He has all the ability in the world. He may be the biggest tease on the White Sox. He looks so unhittable at times, then the next start he gives up 5 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. They had something on the board last night, and I don't know if its accurate because the board made no sense a few times as once they said Lillibridge had 37 hits last season then broke it down to 13 singles 5 doubes 2 triples and 2 homers. I guess he had 15 hits that were classified any of those. When Jackson struck someone out, the RF line once had Gavin Floyd 4 k's. After the next strikeout, Jake Peavy 5 k's. But it said Jackson has had 5 starts in his career with 10 ks or more, and 4 of those are with the White Sox. I'm kind of shocked he only did it once before he came here.

I was thinking uniforms last night. I think its time some team brought back the pullovers.
-
Shin Soo Choo broke his thumb. Once this service time issue with Viciedo is cleared up and Dunn starts hitting, which I believe after Friday night is soon, the Sox, with all their warts, should walk away with this pretty pathetic division.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) nothing lost nothing gained in the division Just another golden opportunity bungled. Dunn looked a little better tonight after the first couple of Ks. If he gets hot and Rios plays like the first half last season, the Sox will win the division easily. If not, games like tonight are really going to hurt.
