It was shocking to me how down Hawk seems on the White Sox organization.

The Sox used 6 starters in 2005. It was a major league record.

Hawk didn’t go into specifics but does seem to not be a fan of Brooks Boyer. Said JR used to be a man of his word but that all changed when Brooks came in. Also said he thinks JR should sell the team. At the end, on a sadder note, said Carlton Fisk is not in good shape health wise.

This game means nothing. The intensity level has to be as low as it can go. The team has been named, the game doesn't count. I hate Clevinger, so I'm glad he's getting lit up, but again, it means zip.

It wasn't all LaRussa, but it was a huge part of it. Hopefully, the lingering damage he did will be reversed. One of the all time worst hires.

I just don't know the upside. He was the worst hitter in baseball last year, and generally a below average player in a best case scenerio. He isn't going to be flipped for anything. He isn't going to show your young players how to play. Unless you are tanking and want to lose, it's the only appeal to have him on the roster.

He was so awful last year, I bet he's going to have to play minor league baseball if he wants to continue his career. With $11 million coming to him the next 2 seasons, and probably no paydays after that, he may be done.

Now is he not on the roster because he's being released, or is he not on the roster because they are going to IL him?

So far, I like Pedro. I hope the emphasis on fundamentals pays off this season. Haven't quite seen it during the games, but most of the time there were not the major leaguers playing when I watched.

He’s been pretty bad except for 1 season the past 5 or 6 seasons.

LaRussa must be in shock. Leury had some big moments. Han paid him handsomely for them. Hard to believe he gave him 3 years. It was the exact same mistake he made with Keppinger. I doubt his replacement will play much better than he did before last season, but if Leury is what he was last season, he needs to find another line of work.

I get the point, but he is no worse than the others at the end of the bench, is LH, and can hit a homer every now and then.

It does fascinate me how we all, I am including myself, are so into who are going to be the last guys on the roster every year. Always refreshing, don't want to get the news 30 seconds later than I could, then 2 weeks into the season, hope they are all DFAd or sent to Charlotte.

The only way Billy should be on the team is if Colas isn't the RF and I like Billy. But they aren't going to take Benin10d or Robert for defense, and they are telling us Colas is a good enough defender to perhaps back up in CF. Billy would be yhe worlds greatest PR, especially in extra innings , but a roster spot is too valuable for that. OtOH, Tony isn't there to fall in love and start leading him off.

Probably, but at this point every team is figuring out their final spot or 2, and it seems doubtful to me if the Sox told Alberto he wasn’t making the team and he had an out, that a team would find a spot for him on their opening day roster. He’s over 30. Look at his numbers. The fact is no team thought he was worthy of a major league contract.

Does anyone really think Alberto, if he has an out in his minor league deal, is really going to be coveted by teams based on spring training stats? He’s going to the minors most likely anyways.

Funny thing is stretching can decrease speed and power. There is a fine line and you cannot expect the athletes to know exactly what their line is. I doubt Eloy was missing any stretching sessions. The strength and conditioning guys stretch the guys out or at least supervise. Injuries are going to happen. I don’t fault the trainers or conditioning guys or players. Most during the season go through the same routines. Some never get hurt, some seem always injured.

To say he was hurt because he didn’t stretch out enough, is actually a stretch. A lot of hammy problems around the league, especially last year. Players are going to get hurt. It’s part of what happens. Some guys never seem to get hurt. Some guys always seem to be hurt. Unfortunately, many of the Sox players seem to be the later right now. Hopefully it can change. Luis Robert is a workout warrior. No one is more cut than him, and he might play less than Eloy. As John Kruk once said, you can’t pull fat.

I read somewhere where the Bears still HAVE to spend a ton of money.

That's what I would guess. Personally, I would take Haseley over any of them,

If the Sox lose any of them, oh well. There's a reason no team would give them a major league contract.

I take spring training stats with a grain of salt. 99.9% chance these guys are what they have always been. I expect Leury to make the team, as not one of these guys is significantly better.
