  1. Maybe some of the Reinsdorf water carriers should notice his way doesn’t work.
  2. I really don’t know why people would think this is even a remote possibility. Chicago is the 3rd largest market in the country. The AL will not abandon it
  3. Yeah there is nothing more a new manager wants than the old failed manager around “helping” him out.
  4. If true, what an awful idea and slap in the face of your new manager.
  5. Here were last years projections, for what Fangraphs called the most accurate projection model. Notice the Astros had 0:5% higher chance of winning the World Series than the White Sox, and the Guardians had a 0.5% higher chance of winning the AL Central than the White Sox had of winning the WS. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/atc-2022-projected-standings-and-playoff-odds/
  6. He had 1 good season before the age of 36. This contract will push his career earnings to $75 million. Good for him. Most would have given up.
  7. As much as everyone was to blame Frank M. for it, I still think it was another TLR deal. Frank was the hitting coach when Stanton hit 59. I knw he was the hitting coach when the Marlins hit a lot of singles, but look at their roster. Tony was the guy who told Pujols to try to hit .300 instead of a ton of homers. It worked for him because he was a freak, and baseball was a little different. There are going to be guys that will be a lot better in 2023, but probably a couple that won't. Who knows exactly how it will turn out? Benin10d didn't exactly hit a ton of homers when coached by these guys. I also think the ball is going to be a bit more lively in 2023 But everyone has to admit the new staff seems head and shoulders above the last. Whether that means more wins, who. knows. But it was a better team when Tony left last year until Cleveland beat them at home in September and they just collapsed. If they stayed close, Cairo is probably a big league manager instead of a minor league roving instructor.
  8. The Phillies just made it into the WS. They wouldn’t have even made the playoffs in previous seasons. As long as you have 3 or 4 starters, and a decent bullpen capable of getting on a roll, you have a shot if you get invited. IMO, the 2020 White Sox were one playoff team with no shot at a title because they basically had 2 starters. I think the good news is if the White Sox make the playoffs enough of their players turned it around where even the current naysayers will then say , with one or two exceptions, they have a shot. The others will hold out because one team wins and they can play the chalk and say I told you so.
  9. I know you probably talk to AJ every day and he told you the exact reason he left and of course it’s because the White Sox are so terrible in every way and not worth the time and effort, even though you seem to spend hours a day telling us how everything they do is wrong. But maybe the White Sox told him he was going to be a slightly used back up, which really could have hindered his earning potential after 2023. To be honest, if it was me I still would have taken the $13 million. But that is one of many reasons he may have turned down the option. It doesn’t always have to be the White Sox are so terrible in every way…..
  10. Jason and Steve are at their best when the team is really good. They don't have to try to be stand up comedians. Steve doesnt have to rip Sox fans on Twitter who basically tweet the same things he at least hints of on the telecasts and radio appearances. They just discuss good baseball and have fun that way. They are much funnier when they don't try to fill 2 hours of the broadcast with a routine.
  11. People bitched about Hawk. Then the Sox brought in a guy whose style is exactly what they were clamoring. Now they b**** about him. It doesn't matter who is broadcasting Sox games, there is a certain faction that will say whoever it is sucks.
  12. So the Giants are going to flunk Correa on the physical but will be OK with Conforto.
  13. Jason is still doing the occasional Bulls game on NBCSC. I would imagine they will both be back. I think Stone told someone he was very close to signing, but he probably is waiting on Jason.
  14. How much can he realistically expect to play there? Curious signing iMO.
  15. Obviously, the trade will never happen, especially since Liam would be an 8th inning guy, but imagine being a Mets fan. You couldn't care less about prospects. They will just sign whatever every year.
  16. I always thought that, but then he throws a fastball 96, and I start thinking, there may be more there than I think.
  17. This must have been one of the exciting ideas Hahn was talking about when he was in San Diego.
  18. I agree. Unless they gave up something good, which is doubtful, how is this not Ok/
  19. I don't think the Sox will trade Hendriks, but I do have a suspicion they may want Escobar. Money is pretty even if the Mets take Joe Kelly.
  20. He makes sense for Baltimore at basically $2.5 million a year. He'll probably play less than he did with the White Sox, but that is probably good for him. He was always a back up at best.
  21. The reason probably is he is aware one of the teams that would maybe want him is the White Sox. Players with limited no trades many times put the teams most likely to trade for them on the list to basically give them a full no trade. Then, if they get traded there, they get some concessions. For instance, if Bryce Harper had a limited no trade, there would be no reason to put the Pirates or Indians on the list. They would never pick up the contract. But the Mets would probably be on it. And he would want something in return for waiving it.
  22. If James McCann is the answer, 2023 is going to suck.
  23. Cohen is worth $17 billion. I was reading up on him. If he loses $200 million a year the next 10 years, it doesn't matter to him. If JR risks losing $100k, he freaks out.
  24. Not only that, the contract was backloaded. If the Mets want to get rid of him, they are going to have to eat a ton of the contract and get s%*# back.
