  1. Limited roster spots would but a damper on that. If money wasn’t a factor, more teams would at least attempt to compete, and fanbases with little hope would have a bit more. When money wasn’t a factor teams like KC and Pitt and Cincinatti were always good. Now they usually have little shot: the best thing, and I know it will never happen, isn’t spending less, but evening the playing field more. Pay the players, but divide the money up, and only give money to teams that spend it.
  2. If DJ Moore were a Bear the last 5 seasons and put up the exact same numbers, he would be their all time leading receiver.
  3. Giolito with only 2 strikeouts in the 1st. What a bum.
  4. Orioles were really good last year. I bet they take a step back this season.
  5. League wide, it looks like oblique strains are the injury du jour.
  6. Especially this early. You really want him in midseason form now so he can dominate games that don’t count?
  7. People putting a lot in a March 5th spring training appearance. It is beyond amazing. It happens every year. Both ways.
  8. Former White Sox pre game host, and llongtime Rays radio voice, has died. He was only 58. He was great on the pregame, sometimes calling fans drillrods. Many were hoping he would get a White Sox pbp position some day. Apparently had heart issues.. RIP
  9. I've been waiting for this. Might as well, especially with a guy like Gallo, who if he hits it in the air, its either a routine play or gone. If the Sox can get the 2020 Luis Robert in CF back, they could do this a lot. I suspect if this happens enough, and teams don't get burned bad, they will change the rule so the work around will be illegal as well.
  10. He has a $12 million contract correct? If he gets suspended, that drops, and his paydays decrease in the future.
  11. If she made the whole thing up, I apologize profusely. The thing is, it's probably pretty slim she made it all up. But its a he said/she said, so it's pretty tough to prove unless there is a witness. Odds are overwhelming he did something. Something so bad, the mother was willing to risk her child's portion of his millions of baseball earningsl to make public, and be held accountable.
  12. The longer it drags on, the smaller his punishment will be IMO.
  13. If they were able to send him to the highest bidder, they get more, but how much. ? I think doing right by him may pay off more for them in the long run.
  14. 2nd rounder that could turn into a 1st round pick if the Rangers make the conference finals and a 4th rounder.
  15. The fact of the matter is by this point, they should have one.
  16. They didn't throw 100. Back when the game was played more rapidly, 92-94 was considered pretty quick. Now its mediocre. I do think the pitch clock is the best thing that has happened to the game in a long time.
  17. From what I read, the velo stayed about the same. Of course most of the guys throwing around 100 aren't in AAA, unless they are very young, which you think would mean less recovery time needed. I think the veteran max effort guys are the guys to watch for injury and/or velo drop.
  18. I imagine he will be at some point.
  19. The treatment could be as long as 6 months. He probably is doing the one that is 3 to 4 months. It kicks your ass. It’s great that he is with the team and throwing, but he’s probably nowhere near full strength and probably has at least another month or two getting treated. You have to figure it will take some time after that to get to full strength. Hope he comes back in the second half, but don’t count on it,
  20. My wife's line is a bunch of uneducated men in silly costumes, running around in dirt, trying to hit a ball with a stick. It so great.
  21. I would think if it was close to wrapping up, they would have had it done before they would have had to go through all this. So I expect it to drag on for a while.
  22. JR owes everything to Michael Jordan. Without him, he would be known as one of the worst owners ever.
  23. Some fluff out of RH. Nothing but great things about Romy's offseason. Nothing but bad things about RH;s offseason. Again.
  24. Not without command. Look at Rodon after TJ. Look at Britton. Look at just about everyone except Verlander, although Verlander had a lot longer recovery time when he took the mound. A year out, most of these guys kind of suck. Some continue to suck, but many get a lot better with more time.
  25. Youll see. He won't be the Crochet he's been. He'll throw a little softer with less command. 2024 he should be back.
